Colleagues,

they had those last two hellsing episodes all along. the idea struck them at the last minute that they could pass them off as movies due to their length. and since they only had two non-repeats they could give the illusion of having just as much new movie content as last year. probably informed funi of their plans later. heheehe, the sneaky bastahs.

I'm trying to think of a reply to this that won't get me warned or banned. If you are being serious.....just stop. This is the dumbest theory I have heard in a long time. There was NOTHING to be gained from Toonami saying they wouldn't be able to air all of Hellsing.

Well I was curious what Toonami was going to do for this second run of Bleach episodes, since they didn't cut out the intro till 2014...

Turns out they kept the entire intro!

How did Eureka Seven do during its run? The fact that it kept moving to a later time slot is not a good sign. I ask that because I wonder if that will hurt Ao from ever airing on Toonami. It was pretty good, I love that Elena chick she was awesome, and the director he is was hilarious, but in my opinion it was inferior to the original, so if the original flopped, not much hope. If you thought the original Eureka Seven plot was confusing and over your heard, you have no chance of understanding Ao's plot. At least the original had a clear cut villain, if you can't understand the rest of the plot you can simplify that Dewey = bad, Ao I was never really sure were the protagonist fighting for the wrong side.

Anyway could Eureka Seven Ao make its way here?

I don't remember the ratings for Eureka Seven exactly, but I don't think that they were particularly high. Although, it probably didn't help that it had already on Adult Swim prior to Toonami reviving and I think I remember reading that it didn't do too well during that run as well. Even so, I remember that they did mention that they were looking into AO in one of their Q&A sessions, but I think that was about a year ago or so.

I only saw the first episode of AO when it was free On Demand and like the original series, it was confusing to follow along with all of the technical jargon they kept throwing around expecting for the audience to understand. I haven't heard good things about it and I didn't particularly like Eureka Seven. It had strong moments and some interesting characters, but I thought that the pacing was weak, it took them way too much time for them to explain anything, the two lead characters weren't particularly interesting and most of the supporting characters were forgettable. It had strong emotional moments, but that didn't make the whole series significantly better. I don't think that I hated it, but I just didn't care that much for it. They might go for AO at some point. I don't know if there would be a high demand for it or if I'd watch it, but it's probably not impossible for it to air on the block.

No god no, AO is a Frakenstein abomination of bad pacing, useless characters, subplots that don't go anywhere, villains with convulated motives. The whole thing is a poor mess that everyone wishes it never existed

If you really want an example of how bad Astral Ocean is, just consider the fact that Mainichi used the 2012 Summer Olympics as an excuse to cancel the show two weeks early!

...not kidding that actually happened.

Well remember, Eureka 7 was pushed back due to various shows premiering on the block over time such as IGPX, Tenchi Muyo GXP, Naruto, One Piece, Soul Eater and Sword Art Online. I don't think whether the show was doing bad ratings wise (and I don't think it was for its time slot. I mean come on, we're talking about the wee hours of Sunday mornings here) had anything to do with it being pushed back.

Anyway, I mentioned before that I really like Eureka 7 and was frustrated with Astral Ocean when it was simulcasted. However at this point, I don't see the harm in the show broadcasting for those that do want it on the block. It's just one show that only has 24 episodes, so we at least know it'll likely have a finite run on the block. So I'm not worried about something like that anymore. Personally, I'm more concerned with something like Fairy tail being on the block, partly because I'm not a fan of it but more so because between the first anime and the second anime premiering, there's no telling when it'll end. It would make for one more show taking a time slot for an indefinite period of time.

Err... They didn't cancel it, just the episodes got delayed because of scheduling conflicts with an event. It happens all the time. Besides, they aired the final two episodes as a one hour special a couple months later.

Looks like we've finally got a date for the first Funimation home release of Space Dandy. February 17, 2015 for Season One.

About $70 (preorder price of $52.49) for the standard Blu-Ray/DVD combo, or $130 (pre-order price of $97.49) for a Limited Edition BooBies pack exclusive to the Funimation website. Also an Aloha Oe pack exclusive to Amazon.

Special features include commentaries, textless opening/ending, promo videos, commercials (this is listed separately from "trailers", so possible Toonami commercials included?), and part 1 of a two part interview/documentary.

Yikes. I knew it'd be a little pricy, but even the standard release makes my wallet cry. I'd of been okay with just 2 DVDs in a release if it meant the price dropping a little bit. Will probably hold off a few years ~

I'm curious at the DVD/BD cover art - while I really do like it - it's missing QT & Meow.

-- Someone made a good comment too regarding the Boobies edition - it comes with a 2015 calendar. Depending on when pre-orders ship, all of January 2015 will be over and then half of February 2015, so it's a tad pointless as far as that goes.

Well enough about that, you don't suppose they could air Sailor Moon at the very least in the very early morning hours to test the waters. Though Sailor Moon might be very expensive to get.

If they could get Sailor Moon, I would prefer for it to air in a good slot given that the redub would warrant more exposure than being put in the early morning hours. Plus, it would probably get some good ratings given that it hasn't been on the air in years. It most likely would be really expensive for them to get though. A part of me wouldn't mind Sailor Moon on the lineup when giving the redub some exposure would be good, but Toonami does not need another long running series. They already have three long-running series premiering on the block and they potentially have Bleach reruns for another two years, unless something happens to those rights like with Naruto or they take it out for awhile in favor of a new show. They do not need a fifth long-running series on the lineup.

Remember, that's MSRP. It'll likely be $50-ish on Right Stuf and other online retailers. And that's pretty standard pricing for anime.
