I hope they add another Viz show in the future and replace One Piece with it. There's not a lot of slots to go around so sacrifices should be made.

I seriously doubt that they're going to get rid of One Piece anytime soon. They seem to be happy with how it's doing on the block and while it's not one of their heavy hitters like DBZ Kai ratings wise, it's doing at least well enough. Not to mention they do like One Piece, so that probably helps it out too. As long as they can afford it and it does well enough, One Piece will most likely stick around on the lineup. While it's true that there aren't a lot of slots for them to work with on the lineup, I don't see them sacrificing One Piece just to put on another show. They still have time slots to work with for the lineup. One Piece, DBZ Kai and Shippuden have their slots locked up for years given how long those series are, but I see that as more of a sign that they shouldn't get any more long-running series rather than they need to get rid of one of their long running series.

Never heard of Akame ga Kill but usually when the anime bloggers and forum users say something is bad the show turns out to be good and vice versa. The most hated and divisive shows of the season almost always end up being the best ones. One thing that worries me though is the dub. I really hope Sentai brings their A game.

Michiko and Hatchin can go either way. You can be sure the only reason this show was picked up was due to Watanabe being the producer. The AS/Toonnami crew have had their lips on this guy for over a decade and since Cowboy Bebop and Dandy aren't on the block anymore (thankfully), they must have thought Michiko and Hatchin is the second best thing. Hopefully, Yamamoto can cover up Watanabe's stench. I haven't seen Fujiko Mine but I heard it had a lot of fanservice, so she can't be that half-bad of a director.

Sword Art Online 2 is the only exceptional anime currently on the block so hopefully these new series are worth watching.

Going forward I can see High School of the Dead being picked since it's Sentai's most popular series. I didn't like what little I saw of it but I might change my mind whenever they air it. Other shows of theirs I would like to see on the block is Needless, Queen's Blade Rebellion, Phi - Brain, Samurai Girls, Persona 4, Upotte, Log Horizon, Majikoi - Oh, Devil Survivor 2, Demon King Daimao, Godannar and Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. Michiko and Hatchin was likely chosen due to being requested and fitting in with the block. Most of the shows you mentioned are not shows that I've seen getting requested very much, and One Piece is doing quite well in its current slot even occasionally beating the shows before it.

Yeah, I can easily see them putting either Cowboy Bebop or Space Dandy after Attack on Titan ends its run, especially when I think that it doesn't cost them much, if anything, to air Space Dandy. Since 3AM is most likely going to be used as a rerun slot for the foreseeable future, it would make sense to use one of those series. They both have done pretty well ratings wise and I'm sure that they'd like to put either show back on the lineup at some point, so it just seems likely that they'll go for either one of those shows at some point.

While I haven't seen much of Bebop and I have mixed feelings about Space Dandy in general, I don't mind either one of them returning. Toonami still doesn't have a large budget to play around with, so they do need to save what money they can. Besides that, they'll be airing at 3AM, so unless you like to watch the whole block, you can easily ignore them.

Stop me if someone's already mentioned this idea, but does anyone think Toonami should remove a show currently in reruns to give Dragon Ball Z Kai a second "premiere" slot, so the series can get to the Buu Saga (and a possible Super dub by proxy) faster?

That could make Michiko a potentially more likable and/or interesting character than Revy, so that makes the show sound more promising to me.

While that would help to get them to the Buu Saga and Super faster, I think that giving one show two slots could go overboard too. I'm not sure if they'd have the financial resources to run two DBZ Kai premieres every week either.

Of course, this is just the rambling of a person who already got his fill of Kai through Nicktoons and the CW. Maybe Toonami could just do a marathon one weekend to go through a handful of episodes.

Well, that's that then. It's a moment like this that I sort of long for the days of Toonami airing 5 days a week again.

I can totally understand that. A weekday block would really help with burning through all of these long running series. It certainly would help a show like One Piece given how many episode it has and how incredibly slow the pacing can be. Even a couple of weeknight slots for new episodes could be helpful, but the ratings would probably need to be huge for that to happen.

I also don't think they'd want DBZ to take up too much of the block. If they were to air two episodes a week, the only way I can see it done would be if they got the 11:30pm slot back solely to air more DBZ, but I most sincerely doubt that it would happen.

Michiko & Hatchin will join Samurai 7, Eureka Seven and Black Lagoon as the fourth series I've seen ahead of its Toonami broadcast, this time beating them to the punch by a mere three months. Also not unlike Black Lagoon, I'll be watching it dubbed from start to finish for the first time.

I've seen a few episodes dubbed already, and I've heard Monica Rial's Michiko. I cannot wait.

Speaking of Fujiko Mine, when are we getting that on Toonami? There's no doubt the Toonami crew are interested in it considering they're big fans of Lupin. I could live with an OP shortened for content and some cropping/blurring.
