God, I hope Black Clover takes a break. In this day and age, the concept of a continuous anime production based on an ongoing manga is a dying concept, and for good reason. I'll excuse Toei for continuing to do it with One Piece (though as a One Piece fan, the glacial pacing of the anime due to their refusal to do actual filler arcs is disgusting), but Studio Pierrot continuing to do so with Boruto and Black Clover is baffling, especially when all their Shonen Jump contemporaries (MHA, Dr Stone, Promised Neverland, Demon Slayer, etc) have gone the seasonal route.
Give the source material some breathing room.
At first, I don't mind the block being shorter, but then I see an hour of Primal and Samurai Jack on after that. Why can't they be part of the Toonami line-up again?
The director confirmed this season will be 51 episodes so the series will either take a break in September or start airing filler arcs. The 20th anniversary Bleach project might be the show's replacement if they go the break route.
I can barely find any new releases of Black Clover merchandise on that Japanese website I check. There hasn’t been any new Black Clover merchandise on their website since the beginning of season 1! I wonder if this means Black Clover isn’t popular in Japan whatsoever?
I have no idea why that website you were on had no new Black Clover merchandise, but it has nothing to do with the series's popularity. BC is a very solid-selling title in Shonen Jump, ranked no. 7 (out of over twenty series) and moves over 1.5 million volumes of manga a year in Japan. It is only slightly less popular than Dr. Stone, if that puts things into context. Overall, I would say out of the hundreds of active media franchises in Japan at the moment, Black Clover would be in the top 10%, maybe the top 15% at worst.
The YouTuber Super Eyepatch Wolf gives a pretty good rundown in the below video:
I shop here.
AmiAmi [Character & Hobby Shop]
www.amiami.com
I actively look for Black Clover merchandise, but there hasn't been any for at least 1-2 YEARS now.
I also shop Hobby Link Japan, and there are only 2 pieces of Black Clover merchandise there. I do admit AmiAmi and Hobby Link Japan do cater to foreign buyers, but still one would think they would want to cater to us foreign Black Clover fans too as they do all the other anime series out there. That site seems to be geared towards foreigners, and Black Clover merchandise may not sell well enough outside of Japan to justify stocking the latest releases. I would be interested to see what a Japanese website that exclusively caters to Japanese fans looks like by comparison.
So by the time 2nd Plate ends its run on Toonami, 3rd will be 9 episodes in on HIDIVE. Yeah, seems like they will go straight into season 3 on Toonami. I heard 3rd Plate is two big arcs in one season so maybe there will be a break after the first arc completes its run?Food Wars season 3 will not debut on Toonami as Hi-Dive will get it first. HIDIVE Orders Up a Serving of the “Food Wars! The Third Plate” Dub. Considering how niche Hi-Dive is, this seems to have gone without comment from most Toonami forums. We'll probably get season 3 as soon as season 2 ends without a break, I think.
Just found out that Dragon Ball Z Kai will be airing for an hour at 8pm EST on Saturday.
Toonami Schedule
But not as part of Toonami
I don't know how Adult Swim is still airing anime outside of the Toonami block. I wonder if this means that Toonami could be expanded to link with that hour. However, Toonami stated that they don't have the budget to air a wide variety of shows.
I presume it may be due to using them as filler, like what Picard Man said.I don't know how Adult Swim is still airing anime outside of the Toonami block.
