"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Zetman would be a good replacement for Deadman Wonderland. Just as gritty and violent and same amount of episodes. Not sure on how far viz is with their dub though.

I personally wouldn't want to see Zetman on the lineup, because I find it to be a horrible manga adaption. Besides, I have a feeling that they'll put Panty and Stocking on.

Anyway, I'm hearing that Blue Exorcist got a dub . . . and that it is Neon Alley-bound. Doesn't guarantee that Fate/ZERO won't be joining it but I'm thinking Aniplex opted to throw in with Viz. Toonami really is becoming "FUNimation + Bleach".

Maybe Aniplex thinks that Blue Exorcist will do better on Neon Alley than Durarara!! did on Adult Swim.

The adaptation blasted through 60+ chapters in about 5 episodes, leaving out entire arcs.

Man. That does sound terrible. Good thing I chose to read the on-going manga instead.

Yeah, I watched the anime without knowing this and thought it was really terrible. Then I heard this and decided to give the series a second change, this time with the manga, which is pretty good. So yeah, people should just enjoy the manga and hopefully America wont get the anime >_>

Instead, to stay at seinen shows, I think it would be cool if Baccano aired on Toonami.

So a FUNimation Anime Expo panel is happening in a few minutes, I'll tell you guys if we hear any Toonami business. I already sent in a question about it to them.

From the Funi Panel

17:13:48 <bay|AX|FUNi> so yea, we got toonami back on
17:13:56 <bay|AX|FUNi> and yes, you get the fantastic anime again now
17:14:04 <bay|AX|FUNi> and so. we have deadman wonderland at 12:30 premiering
17:14:22 <bay|AX|FUNi> it'll tide you over until you get helling this fall (blod and guts)

Wonder what this means?

Sorry for the double post, but this is urgent.

Scroll down just a tiny bit. Look where she's talking about Toonami. Guess what she says is coming this fall?

I hope she's not joking.

For those of you who don't get it, she means Hellsing.

Helling is probably a typo for Hellsing, considering how I've been watching all day and there have been a bunch of typos like that...

oh ok thanks
ill look it up ive never heard of it though

FUNimation has been infamously taking forever to release the Hellsing OVAs. She's probably saying that FUNi will finally begin rolling them out this fall. I don't think the OVAs will air on Toonami. FLCL is the only OVA of its kind to ever air on Adult Swim and it follows the half-hour format except for the finale. Hellsing laughs in the face of such a set format . . . and then blows the format's brains out.

So, Michiko to Hatchin was announced as licensed by FUNimation today at Anime Expo.
If Williams Street DOESN'T pick this up, in terms of their anime pick-ups? I might lose respect for them. THIS show is technically unofficially a part the Shinchiro Watanabe pedigree, as such its directed by Sayo Yamamoto, who is more or less Watanabe's protegee; most recently she directed the new Lupin III TV Series.

i feel the same right here. it's too good not to be on toonami.

Great speech by TOM about reruns on Toonami. I loved the line where he said, "Have no fear, plans are in place to secure the future."

Just awesome.

Sketch-man has an interesting analysis on how big Toonami's acquisitions budget might be. He tweeted this last night but I felt it merited discussion here on the board.

The best case scenario is that we have two 24-26 episodes series coming later this year (which would make total non-Bleach episode count somewhere in the range of 85-87 episodes). The worst case is that we're already done.

I did like the new bumper with TOM talking about the necessity of reruns and ending it with saying that plans are in place to secure the future. I could see them getting at least one more new series after Deadman Wonderland ends. They could get another series once Casshern Sins ends its run, but it depends on what they can afford to get and if they have reached how many episodes they can order by then. I wouldn't mind if they brought back Durarara for the block if they still have the rights to it. I don't think it should replaced either Deadman Wonderland or Casshern Sins since I think that they should save those slots for new episodes to get more viewers, but I could see them putting it on at the 2AM slot after FLCL finishes up. I think that it would fit in with the new Toonami block pretty well.

I enjoyed making this:

I am completely fine with that future.:D Outlaw Star would be a good replacement for Cowboy Bebop. And I believe FLCL is replacing GITS once it wraps up its run right?

Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
