Glad they picked up a new series to air, I mean yeah the show itself isn't that new, but its still one that sounds enjoyable I myself have only seen afew eps, so I look foward to actually watching the whole series of Samurai 7 as it airs on Toonami!

Also wonder what they'll get to replace Casshern once it ends? Personally I'd love to see Hellsing &/or Black Lagoon, but that may be asking for too much.

- They are not going to rerun stuff they don't have to.
- They are mostly concerned about GOOD, not NEW.
- They are planning to get more shows this year, if possible.
- Durarara!! and Big O might return eventually, but not in the near future.
- Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop are not leaving anytime soon.
- They have perpetual rights to air Ghost in the Shell, and it won't expire. Same can't be said about Cowboy Bebop though.
- They will air non-anime on the block if they can.
- They hope to acquire more long-running anime
- DVRing and Adult Swim Gold also count for ratings.
- For the time being, it'll be mostly older shows.
- Deadman Wonderland will NOT get a second run.

WHERE POSSIBLE= when we can afford it. We own GITS and Bebop will not leave our air any time soon.

This makes me wonder if they only got Deadman Wonderland secured for one run.

Adult Swim Gold is a video section on Adult Swim's website. http://video.adultswim.com/gold/index.html

You need a cable account to login to it and watch the videos. It's kind of like video on demand. Usually new episodes of a show is posted the day after they air on TV.

Adult Swim Gold is a section of the Adult Swim site which has full episodes of shows the day after they air, including Toonami shows. You just need to enter your cable provider info to get to it.

Good to know they are aware of the viewer burnout. Let's hope they can get enough shows for cycling in.

The correct approach. Of course, they should try and get lighter, less dialougue heavy shows. There's a reason why comedy shows get the high ratings they do, and that's an approachable atmosphere. They should try to get more general [adult swim] audience friendly anime, but I'll take whatever they can get (that's good).

Awesome. Let's hope they do.

I don't see why they couldn't have cycled them in, but at least they're on the table for future reairing.

Not ideal. In fact, pretty disaponting. But I haven't watched a single episode of Ghost in the Shell, nor every episode of Cowboy Bebop, so I'll still be watching. Can't say the same for other people though....

Woah. Really? Ghost in the Shell will always be available to [adult swim] for broadcast? Forever, and ever and ever? Dang. But Cowboy Bebop could be gone one day? That's....an odd notion to say the least, if only for the fact that [adult swim] seems to love that show to death and to see it gone for good would just be so gosh darn jarring.

I don't really know what's stopping them now, but hopefuly they'll be able to at least access the Cartoon Network original action cartoon vault and show Megas XLR or Samurai Jack or something.

Good. I have trouble staying up past Deadman Wonderland.

Well, half of the lineup is new to [adult swim] at least, so the ratio is pretty good now. And the "older shows" just so happen to be three of the greatest anime of all time, so it's fine by me.

They couldn't afford even half-year-long rights? Bummer dude. But at least they have a replacement.

Guessed this. Still, getting a half-year anime [adult swim] hasn't aired before is pretty good. Hopefully they can get a more high profile show in the future...

Okay. So they're here to stay. Except apparently Cowboy Bebop could be gone forever one day. I wish they chose something else to play. But for now, I guess, it's okay.

Well, at least they aren't going to go into reruns for every show if they don't have to. I'm also glad that they're focused on getting good shows, rather than just something new. A brand new show would be cool, but I don't think it should matter if the show has been out for a few years if they can get it and it's good.

That's awesome. I could see them getting another show after Casshern Sins ends, although I don't know if it will be a new show for the block or not.

I'd love to see Durarara!! on the block. It would fit pretty well. I haven't seen Big O yet, but I could see that returning at some point.

I'm not surprised that neither show aren't leaving the block anytime soon, but I wasn't expecting that they had perpetual rights to air Ghost in the Shell. If anything, I thought that their rights to Cowboy Bebop would never expire considering how long they've had it and how it airs fairly often.

That sounds nice, but I don't know what kind of non-anime they can air on the block. Even something like Samurai Jack might not fit with the tone of the block, although that and maybe some DC shows like Justice League/Ultimate could work.

That's pretty cool. Maybe they are looking into One Piece and/or Fairy Tail for the future.

I don't have a DVR, but I'll keep Adult Swim Gold in mind if I don't want to say up through most of the block.

As long as the older shows haven't been too overexposed or aired on channels that not a lot of people have, then I think that won't be a problem.

I'm not surprised about that. It's a good show, but they really need to put in a new show right after it to keep people interested in the block.

No surprise there. I imagine that quite a few older shows are cheaper to get than some of the more recent series.

That sounds pretty cool. I am eager to see what the promo for the series will look like. Hopefully they'll have one this week instead of waiting until Deadman Wonderland ends to promote it.

I was never able to see most of Ghost in the Shell because this is my first time watching it so it's treat for me to see the first season. Cowboy Bebop is fine to stay at that late slot as well.

That;s some good information to know. The old Toonami cycled around shows in terms of getting new stuff so it;s interesting to know their doing a similar approach. The "good stuff over new stuff" comment has me excited and worried at the same time though. While I do like the idea of them considering quality the most important factor, it's still important to occasionally get new stuff and captalize on their popularity. I'm pretty sure it'll work out though but I think the best method to go with for new shows is one classic catalog show that may or may not have been on Tv before followed by something recent that may need DVD/Blu Ray promotion and cycle it around like that. Would be pretty cool.

Also interesting to know their interested in picking up another long runner. Guess it's not too surprising considering Bleach's dub has an expiration date and they'll need a replacement. Something like the new Hunter X Hunter could work but I don;t know if anyone's even licensed it yet(even though Viz reps say otherwise).

To clarify, DeMarco said Deadman probably wouldn't be getting a second run, not that it wouldn't at all, so there is a possibility. I'm guessing his ideal line-up once Brotherhood finishes up would probably be 2 hours of either new or retro material capped off the the GitS/Bebop hour (with GitS perhaps more flexible in going on and off the air), but if they can't do that, I'm guessing the 1:30 slot would probably end up going to Big O or Durarara and then once those shows finish up their runs if there's no new material waiting then Deadman might have a chance. Putting together a serious campaign for a second season could also help a lot, since I'm sure FUNi would want to air a Deadman Wonderland 2 on Toonami as opposed to acting like Viz is regarding Final Act.

I haven't the series before, so I will give it a try I guess. And Bleach getting back to canon should help me enjoy the series some what. Though I probably will drop anchor once it's time for Casshern and the rest of the block, just don't have much interest IMO.

Actually, it's more "postwar" than "post-apocalyptic."

Durarara!! might be back. Good. Personally, I think that show would be perfect for the block.

I think the reason why Deadman Wonderland isn't going to get a second run is because Adult Swim was only able to secure it for one run, and the purpose of the run was to promote the DVDs. If they did get the show for 2 years, it would be a waste of money just to air it for 3 months and not air it again. It's not like the ratings were bad or anything. Plus, this could have been their chance to put either Ghost in the Shell or Cowboy Bebop on a short break. Ghost in the Shell is a show that they own, so they can air it anytime. It definitely needs a break after airing non-stop for the past couple of years. I think I can understand Cowboy Bebop staying, since the rights have to be renewed, and Adult Swim probably wants to make the most of it.

Honestly Cowboy Bebop has always been "Adult Swim's DBZ" and I see no good reason that it can't hang around in that last slot for as long as it feels like it. It would be nice for the line-up to varie up a bit in the future however.

How does it? They haven't run Black Lagoon before. It's run on other channels, but so has Samurai 7, so the show's chances actually seem up (at least by next year once all the Geneon rights are cleared up again).

For some reason Cowboy Bebop doesn't have any episode title listed on the August 18th schedule. Samurai 7 I can understand since it's a new show, but Cowboy Bebop has been rerun to death. I wonder why...
