At least this disproves the "Bandai has it so Toonami will never air it" conspiracy theory. This gives a chance for shows such as Outlaw Star, Gundam 00 and Gurren Lagann to appear on Toonami some day.

Yeah, I can see the ratings not being much higher than they were back in '06 and '07. I kind of wish they would have brought back Samurai Champloo. That way it could have been "Double Samurai".

That was exactly what I was thinking. Samurai Champloo was probably more expensive than Eureka Seven though.

Also, Eureka Seven won't be in HD, unfortunately.

I loved how they used the music from the "Toonami's final farewell" promo and had Tom speaking as if the block was ending again, then quickly cut to the two new shows.

Wouldn't mind getting something like Fafner in the Azure or even Zegapain if the "older but not given enough love scifi mech show" trend is going to be followed.

I'm more tempted to think it's them buying some time for Astral Ocean to finish airing in Japan so someone can get dubbing rights while at the same time subliminally promoting it. I mean, it can't be coincidence that they decide to rerun E7 the same year BONES is airing a sequel to it and this way it'll also get those who haven't seen E7 yet or in a while back up to speed.


Mind you, if AS wanted to bring back older shows for Toonami, then I'm glad they picked Eureka Seven. And maybe they can promote some DVD Box-Set sales because I'd like to own physical copies of the show now.

Actually, FUNimation already acquired the rights to E7: AO.

I was quite surprised when the promo mentioned two new shows last night. I wasn't expecting Eureka 7 to be on the block. I've never seen that show before, so I'll probably check it out to see if I like it. I'm not surprised that they chose it because it was cheap and they liked it. I don't know if it will do much better in terms of ratings than it did when it last aired, but hopefully, it will do better on the Toonami block.

Well hopefully people actually watch Eureka 7 this time. It's been about 5 years since I've seen it so I'm game.

However of all the shows they might have been able to pick up instead I've gotta shake my head at them re-airing a series that did not do well for Adult Swim the first time.

None the less, 2 hours of fresh series is a good thing. Hopefully people watch.

They are bound and determined to surprise me with this schedule.

If it does well this time, they might put AO on their radar, but it's very new, based off of a popular property, and by the time they're ready for it Funi might just be done with the dubbing, so it could be out of their price range for a while.
Not sure they'll actually promote E7 boxsets because Bandai might not even be producing anymore than the ones already in circulation anyway.

Using the "final broadcast" song in the new promo was a great troll on Adult Swim's part.

Honestly, I was not expecting Eureka Seven to also get picked up for Toonami.
Which is great, though, because I've only seen a handful of episodes and have been meaning to check out the whole thing.
And yeah, hopefully it fairs a little better in the ratings under the Toonami label.

Man, I'm tellin ya. TZ toonmai's discussion thread is a breath of fresh air, compared to the adultswim board. Most definitely. Trolls left and right. It boggles my mind how people can be so thick headed. Like there's not an ounce of decernment in their bones.

1. People complain about older series.
Just because a viewer may have seen a show in the past, doesn't mean everyone else has. Case in point, there are "still" people who haven't seen the Matrix trilogy. Go figure.

2. Wahh...my fav show isn't there.
Time and time again DeMarco has clearly stated there budget is pretty tight. Yet people still complain.

3. Finally people who claim a show is terrible as "FACT". Therefore they must insult those who do watch said show. This lack unity in the fandom is quite disheartening.

Eureka Seven is my favorite anime series along with Cowboy Bebop - I mean, I'm not even really an anime fan per se, but I love the heck out of those shows!

Hopefully it will continue directly into the new Eureka Seven series next year.

I am looking forward to Eureka Seven, the one thing I am not looking forward to is the return of those three brats, I forget there names, but you know the one's I am talking about. I like the suicide bomber kids better than those three, especially the oldest kid. Aside for them, every other character on the show I like.

AO does improve on that, making the little kid characters more likeable though they are not many of them, there only like two of them, and only one is really a regular, at first she seems like a brat, but once you get to know her, she is actully nice. Anyway the return of those three brats I have to bare it. Watching FMA the last couple of years, with adorable characters like Elysia Hughes and Nina Tucker, made me forget what brats little kids can be in anime.

Haha I always hated those kids too. Especially with the way the ending went, I was just wondering "why even bother?" I'm convinced it's because you can't have a 14 year old protagonist who's only two steps from being a whiny 10 year old himself (especially one who starts out as immature as Renton)

Awesome. Eureka 7, Samurai 7, and a reason to stay up until 1 AM. I am surprised but pleased nonetheless that they can stretch their budget this far. Even if I do have my complaints about Samurai 7 being the next choice, at least it's a show I'll enjoy (saw the first four and liked it).

Bravo Toonami. You're already exceeding my high expectation for the block.

As long as they cut the OP, blurring the rest should be rather inexpensive. Imho, it would be the perfect show for the new Toonami.
