He tweeted earlier that the network doesn't have the bumps, reviews, and speeches from '97 - '08 anymore. Maybe Nick does things differently...

Actually, now that I think about it, didn't Cartoon Network post the Toonami farewell bump and the 10 years anniversary montage to their website a couple months back? So maybe they still have some of the bumps?

They must not get rid of everything. Remember those 10th anniversary Toonami bumps they showed back in 2007. They must just some of the old promos and other little odds and ends they don't consider worth saving.

I don't think so. I think they just want people to have a correct hashtag to drive up the twitter counts.

Also, during the 4:30 showing of Eureka 7 (yeah I'm having trouble sleeping) they showed an ad for Gundam Wing instead of the Outlaw Star one (they are the same ads from April). I'm guessing that Bandai is letting them show E7 for next to nothing or even free, if they agree to show advertisements for their shows on DVD. Pretty good trade in my opinion.

It trended. I was not expecting that.
Hey, even #OutlawStar trended, and it was just for the DVD commercial.
I think the only thing that didn't trend was Bleach.

Also, yes I know trending does not equal ratings, I just thought it was cool.

The new set of "Now, Next, and Later" bumps were significantly more awesome than the last set. Especially the Bleach and E7-centered ones.

If memory serves me right, the old clips used in the 10th anniversary bumpers actually originated from Toonami Digital Arsenal. I recall that TDA was contacted way back then with thanks from the Toonami staff for archiving the old promos CN had junked.

Then again, this was over 5 years ago, so maybe I'm misremembering events.

It seems that at least the 2004-2008 stuff was salvaged, since they recycled original TOM 3 era stuff for April Fools and even some of the bumpers they currently air.

Yeah, I got a good laugh from that line too. I was surprised with the Outlaw Star DVD promo. Maybe Bandai does want them to promote the DVD sets of their shows. I think it would cool if they did that more often with some of their other shows, beyond the ones they did for that April Fools bit. I wonder if they could an ad for Deadman Wonderland when it comes out on DVD.

So, Jason DeMarco tweeted that Naruto wasn't the reason Toonami was cancelled back in 2008. When someone asked him what got Toonami cancelled, he replied by saying that it's a story he'll tell when he's no longer working at Cartoon Network.

So somebody on the [as] boards had an idea to boost Toonami ratings by airing anime with its original Japanese audio via SAP (the Secondary Audio Program available on most TVs) with Closed Captioning serving as subtitles. Apparently [as] wasn't able to utilize this technology back in 2004 (stated here http://www.adultswim.com/footer/help/index.html) but that was then and this is now.

What do you guys think about this? I think it would be a pretty good idea myself, as long as there wasn't any additional and expensive licensing that would have to take place.

I will say that my friend has said that they should do that exact thing as an option for subbies but I've never really cared all that much myself.

If it changes nothing for dub viewers who don't make use of SAP then I don't see the harm unless it costs more to get billingual video from distributors. Almost seems like a good excuse to get new tapes for Cowboy Bebop with the remastered cut.

My thoughts exactly. The dub viewers are happy, the sub viewers are happy and everyone wins.

Really surprised that SGT Frog never got pitched to them. I'd have thought FUNi (and ADV before them, when they had the license) would have been pushing it on them at least as crazy as they've been pushing Panty and Stocking currently.

Sgt. Frog is a kids show. Panty & Stocking is for adults. Despite Funimation's dialogue changes, the actual content of the show is still too tame for the gross-out, shock humor loving target audience of [adult swim], while Panty & Stocking's humor is on par with what one might see on The Venture Bros.. And as far as action shows go, it's, well, a comedy. So it's not a good choice for Toonami. Neither is Panty & Stocking, which is also a comedy, but whatever.

I'm more surprised Cartoon Network didn't get a pitch at all. If it's not quite Adult Swim material, it would fit in fine with their edgier kids' shows like Regular Show and Adventure Time. You'd think it would have been pushed for somewhere on the network at some point by someone.

It was pitched to Cartoon Network, but Genon's collapse ruined any chances of a deal. And the Synder/Sorcher regime doesn't quite like anime that isn't based on toys, which is why we only have Beywheelz and Pokemon on there now, and even then, confined to only early morning timeslots.
