"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

I think it's a old promo or something

That video game review looked awesome. Thanks for throwing some money Toonami's way Disney. Talk about ironic.

DeMarco seems to have declared war on schedule leaks which is kind of a bummer for those of us obsessed with schedules but it's better for them to reveal new shows with promos anyway. The problem is they haven't advertised what's coming next yet and 1 week ahead of time is pretty lousy.

There is something to be said for making it a total surprise but unless it's an episodic show you're basically setting up a show to fail by not advertising it before hand and letting people know what it is. The novelty to finding out what it is wears off pretty quick but the damage it can take to the shows potential ratings is something you may never be able to make up for. Clearly they make new stuff for Toonami often enough so what it too much to ask for them to have advertised the next show this week when it's only a couple weeks away? I realize these deals are sometimes not finalized until right before the show hits the air but there is no excuse for not advertising something more than a week before it airs. If you have to, delay the premiere in order to give a new addition to the line-up proper promotion before it airs.

read all of his tweets this Saturday will be glourous lol. I wonder what he means by new TOM thing? plus i think the new show its going to a bigger show it seems like he has confidence in it. and the easter egg during DST this week is just going to go great hopefully me and many others here in jersey will have cable by then.

For those who don't want to go to Jason DeMarco's twitter, here's the scoop for this Saturday:

-There will be a new line-up promo featuring the new show they picked up to replace Casshern Sin
-There will be another promo "for a little something special we'll be doing NEXT week" featuring TOM (I'm guessing another Wreak-It Ralph-like deal?)
-Inuyasha will air during the extra daylight savings hour (in between Thundercats and Full Metal Alchemist) with a special "Easter Egg" during Inuyasha

Sounds like Saturday is going to be jam packed! I can't wait!

Also he said that:
-The Toonami Tumblr (which was apparently leaked somehow) will "probably" be up by Monday
-The ratings for the key demographics are up too and that Toonami's going nowhere :)

The backdoor schedule updated and this is apparently the schedule for November 10:

11:00 PM - The Boondocks
11:30 PM - The Boondocks
12:00 AM - Bleach
12:30 AM - Samurai 7
1:00 AM - Casshern Sins (obviously a placeholder)
1:30 AM - Eureka Seven
2:00 AM - Sym-Bionic Titan
2:30 AM - Thundercats
3:00 AM - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
3:30 AM - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
4:00 AM - Cowboy Bebop
4:30 AM - Cowboy Bebop
5:00 AM - InuYasha
5:30 AM - InuYasha

Interesting... I can see this being the real schedule. Maybe this was the "easter egg" that Jason DeMarco was talking about?

So looks like Inuyasha will be returning, but it is not the new show replacing Casshern. Interesting to see GITS actually gone, when it hasn't finished it's current run, but I guess InuYasha is a stronger show.

.
If this is real I can see them bringing gits back to finish its run after Fullmetal finishes

According to DeMarco, that backdoor schedule is yet another lie. But why list InuYasha in the 5am hour at all if it is just going to be GITS as usual? Hm...

I will laugh so hard if the easter egg involves Wreck-It Ralph again with them running Owl City's music video for "When Can I See You Again".

Putting Inyuasha in the 5AM hour slot would make more sense than having an older show replace Casshern Sins. It would help to have at least a couple of brand new shows on the lineup, as opposed to only a couple with Bleach and Samurai 7. Though, if that is just a placeholder along with Casshern Sins still being on the lineup, I wonder what the real schedule for next week will be like.

My guess is that Inuyasha will be returning in that hour, but the rest of the schedule will undergo a little bit of a shakeup...

I guess we'll just have to wait 'till Satuday to see what's what, wont we?

I'm gonna take backdoor schedules with a grain of salt from now on.

I feel like Inuyasha may not even have anything to do with the new schedule after DST. I don't really see them pulling Ghost in the Shell until at least season 1 finishes again. I'm not saying there's zero possibility of it taking at least one slot if they still have the rights but i don't see that happening until one of the doubled-up shows finishes a run.

So the schedule for November 10 updated again to show this:

11:00 PM - The Boondocks
11:30 PM - The Boondocks
12:00 AM - Bleach
12:30 AM - NEW SHOW (they skipped over it)
1:00 AM - Samurai 7
1:30 AM - Thundercats
2:00 AM - Sym-Bionic Titan
2:30 AM - Eureka Seven
3:00 AM - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
3:30 AM - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
4:00 AM - Cowboy Bebop
4:30 AM - Cowboy Bebop
5:00 AM - InuYasha
5:30 AM - InuYasha

Even though Jason DeMarco said that the backdoor schedule is lying, it makes sense for Eureka Seven to switch with Thundercats and move Samurai 7 down to 1:00 AM to give the new show the 12:30 AM slot.

Moving Samurai 7 makes sense. It's better to test the new show's potential. ThunderCats and Eureka switching also seems like a good move base on their ratings except for last week. I don't like them pulling GitS though (obviously, it's my favorite show there). I don't get why they can't split the last three hours. Bebop isn't that long, it doen't need a full hour, so why not give half of it to GitS? At least so that it can have aired all its episodes on Toonami. If The Final Act is their new show then giving InuYasha the full hour makes sense, otherwise, they should've have given it half of Bebop's hour and let GitS keep its current hour. Well, perhaps it's fine since InuYasha would be "fresh" at this point.

Geez, I pity the E7 fans. 2:30 is pretty late.

Giving the new show the 12:30AM slot make sense due to how they probably want to give it more of a chance to attract an audience and Samuari 7 already does relatively well. I didn't see them changing Eureka 7 with Thundercats, but that works too. I'll have to think about if I want to sleep after Sym-Bionic Titan and watch Eureka 7 on Crunchyroll the next day. I am curious about what this new series could be. Since Inyuasha is on the lineup, although I'm not sure if it will be there past this weekend, I think that it could be Final Act, but the Twitter comment regarding that some people would be mad with it makes me question that. I don't think that people would be mad about it per say either. They probably wouldn't care about it, but I'm not sure that they'd be mad about the choice. Still, it should be interesting to hear about what show will joining the lineup next week.

So, looks like the new show ISN'T InuYasha Final Act. Someone on twitter tried calling DeMarco out on Final Act being the new show, and he pretty clearly said "you're totally wrong." He seemed pretty honest in his response. I had a feeling it wouldn't be, but this is pretty close of a confirmation before we see the promo announcing what the new show really is.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
