Wow, looks like some pretty big shake up's with the schedule will be forthcoming, I'm bummed to see Eureka 7 drop down the schedule but I'm excited to see what the new show may be. It's great to see anime and action programming alive an well on Toonami!

So, looks like the new show ISN'T InuYasha Final Act. Someone on twitter tried calling DeMarco out on Final Act being the new show, and he pretty clearly said "you're totally wrong." He seemed pretty honest in his response. I had a feeling it wouldn't be, but this is pretty close of a confirmation before we see the promo announcing what the new show really is.

Well that's good news. I wasn't sure how much I would want to see Final Act on the lineup when I barely saw anything of Inuyasha and I don't particularly care to find out more about it. At least it might not be something that many people have predicted so it will be more of a surprised when the new show is announced on the block tomorrow.

If it is, I don't think many people mentioned this, but Serial Experiments Lain (which is totally to WS taste and a "golden age of anime in the US throwback" to boot) is getting a funimation re-release this month. It's short, it's well known, and it fits in Casshern's spot perfectly.

It's actually kind of dissapointing news, because Inuyasha was one of [adult swim]'s most popular anime and got great ratings back in the day, so Inuyasha; The Final Act could have done wonders for Toonami's ratings and attracting viewers to it. Hopefully the new show is something that can attract new viewers, but Toonami 2012's acquisition history has been very poor so far, so I'm a little anxious...

That's just your opinion, for me the lineup has been nothing short of spectacular and I've really enjoyed many of their pick up's aside from SBT and the continued spamming of GiTS and Cowboy Bebop. All in all I've been extremely happy with Casshern Sins, Deadman, Thundercats, Eureka, and Samurai 7.

No, I actually like the shows themselves (LOVE Samurai 7, especially), but all of them have gotten rather dissapointing ratings and continuing to get shows like them in the long run will not help the block expand and earn a bigger budget. I want Toonami to get shows that can manage to at least keep Bleach's momentum going pretty well, not shows that drop 200,00-300,000 viewers after it. I think there are a lot of good choices that can help the block perform better in ratings, but they haven't gotten such shows yet aside from Thundercats and Symbionic-Titan which cost them nothing, so that's why I'm a little worried now that it's been confirmed Inuyasha: The Final Act isn't comming to the block.

I don't know if Final Act could have given the block that much of a boost, especially when I think only the really big Inuyasha fans care about the sequel series at this point. In terms of ratings, I thought that Samurai 7 has been doing quite nicely for awhile, but coming on right after Bleach helps. I understand being anxious, but I think that DeMarco said on Twitter that the ratings are fine and the block isn't going anywhere, so I don't know if there's a need to be worried about Toonami at this point. It isn't breaking records, but it's doing well enough that it isn't in any danger of being taken off. I do hope that the new show attracts more people so that it helps the block even more as well, but I think it's fine for now. I just hope that I'll really enjoy the new show.

I would love for them to air Lain, but I don't see it. More cerebral anime that AS has aired (Paranoia Agent, for example) have tanked in the ratings.

Except your viewpoint of good and bad ratings is much different than how Demarco views it. It's part of the reason why he stresses on Twitter that people should stop thinking the numbers they are seeing is the complete picture of it all.

Oh snap I was totally thinking they should swap E7 and ThunderCats and move Samurai 7 to 1AM pairing it with ThunderCats. Those two seem like a good pairing to me. E7 has aired on AS before so I don't see it as terrible to move it so late but I suppose some people will not be happy about that. Especially people who aren't thrilled about ThunderCats airing on Toonami as is. Gonna have to update that ThunderCats promo a tiny bit maybe, if they ever play it again.

You know what slightly older but still pretty new show that would fit great between Bleach and Samurai 7? Sengoku Basara. That has some crazy sword fighting in it.

Whatever they play, I hope it's something that will hold onto Bleach's viewers.

I was looking at that 'backdoor' schedule, and noticed something about Bebop --- Episodes 9 + 10 are listed for this week, the next week and the week after, are Episodes 20-23 -- why would they be skipping 11-19?

Maybe - just doesn't make sense to me though to add the wrong title to a show that really has no real concern, especially when it appears only Bebop was tampered with. If it is a lie, it's an out-of-the-blue lie... if such a thing actually exists

I still feel like it would be weird to pull GitS at this exact moment it's in the middle of a run so anyone who's watching it will likely be unhappy if that happens. Also to comment on Lain, Jason loves the series but has said that it doesn't fit the block and I agree with him ten-fold. In my opinion Lain would get crap for ratings on Toonami anyway. I can't imagine the crowd who would be watching Toonami caring that much for it. It would be a ratings suicide IMO. Also something like Bleach, Lain, Samurai 7, Thundercats would be a really odd line-up. I will also mention Toriko here whom many have (somewhat in jest) predicted. All I can say is it would have been an odd fit between S7 and E7, maybe not so much between Bleach and S7 but either way I imagine the feel of the show would be closer to that of say aspects of Titan if anything and Toriko leading into Eureka certainly would have been odd but yeah that wouldn't happen so I'm not sure what my point is.

If Toriko's anime wasn't heavily censored in comparison to the manga, I would normally think it could work for the block but as it is right now, it would definently turn off viewers.

As for my theory since the show is in the 12:30 slot I can say with confidence it's a relatively new show and not a catalogue title they happened to pick up, otherwise it probably wouldn't make much difference when the show airs. If it's a Funimation show, I still say the two most likely candidates are Future Diary (which has already been confirmed as halfway through recording as of a month or so ago so it would have enough episodes to work with) or Guilty Crown. I could see either of them working since they have some level of broad appeal but as Future Diary is definitively the better show, I'd prefer if it aired instead.

If it's not a Funi title then maybe they were able to work something out for Tiger & Bunny since we already know the show's not Final Act.

You know what? I would take Guilty Crow and like it. Even if I'd already seen the sub. Some people may not end up thinking it's the best thing since Dragon Box DBZ but it's a fairly decent show. And the music kicks ass.
