I'm gonna play Devil's Advocate here: This is an awful decision. Now we have TWO place holders for long-running shows at the start of the block, and they're not going to leave anytime soon. Just when Bleach is going into reruns, they make the schedule worse by putting in MORE reruns and pushing the premieres later into the night. That doesn't make things better; that's poking us with a stick.

Here's an idea: Why not air THIS at 5AM instead of the overplayed InuYasha? When this show aired on CN's Toonami, they at least had the decency to air double premieres because they were aware of the show's length. This is gonna be brutal at one episode a week.

Considering how they had to buy the rights to air Naruto again and it was a pretty big hit, I don't think that it would have made sense to put it at the 5AM slot, especially when Bleach is going into reruns. If they go into the filler arcs, which might be possible given what macattack already mentioned, then it won't take as long to go through the series and by the time they get to that point, they should be able to get Shippuden. It's also possible that they could get the 11PM hour if the ratings continues to improve and airing uncut Naruto would give them a pretty good chance for something like that to happen. Plus, if the block continues to improve ratings wise, they could get more of a budget to afford more and better shows on the lineup, which is one reason why I think putting Naruto on the block is a good choice. Putting Naruto right after Bleach could also help them to make Shippuden the series to replace Bleach once it finishes up in 2014. Having a fairly popular Shonen series would really help Toonami and establishing Naruto now will help it develop an audience so that Bleach ending in a couple of years won't significantly hurt the block.

I'm still not sure if I'll watch Naruto. I just have the TV on during Bleach to see the promos since I don't care to try and figure out what's going on in that series, but I don't know if I'll do that with Naruto just yet.

If this is truly going to be a long haul, I'll give Naruto another shot. It was okay when I saw it on Toonami, but nothing special. Perhaps things have changed.

I'm pretty sure Naruto's back for the long haul. Plus Viz may have given them a deal on the show since having it on TV benefits not only Toonami, but themselves as well.

Can't say I saw this coming, since I figured when they said they couldn't get Shippuden, that there'd be some kind of stipulation preventing them from getting the original series as well. While I'm not sure Naruto really needs to be at the front of the block since it's technically another re-run show, not to mention it could get two episodes a night if it were towards the end maybe, it is a popular one that is hopefully going to help bolster the block even higher.

It's been a while since I saw the early stuff too, and that was all edited (anime wise anyway), so this works for me.

Um... Bleach is still airing, just in reruns, and Naruto is airing in a different time slot.

Why would they only pick up Naruto for eight weeks? Your post doesn't make any sense.

I don't see why they would have Naruto on for only eight weeks. Considering how popular it is, it would be kind of pointless to spend what money they do have for a series like that for eight weeks.

It looks like they finally killed the backdoor schedule.

I don't think they killed it. This one is down too, as well as CN's schedule, so I think it's just all down for the time being, but will probably be up again in a few days.

The Toonami Tumblr already stated that Naruto WILL be staying when Bleach starts new episodes again. They said it will stay as long as people are watching, so it will be ratings that will determine Naruto's fate on the block.

Also, it was also stated that this current lineup should last until at least Samurai 7 ends, which also clearly shows that Naruto will stay.

Well this is good news....I guess if Naruto uncut can find a home then certainly One Piece Uncut can to.Hopefully if it does end up on Toonami they'll air the Movies

I don't know if 5AM would make sense for something they paid money for recently. The more logical thing would be to air it at 1 and have two premiere shows are 12:30 and 1:30 so they benefit from the big hits. Really, it's Thundercats pushing Samurai 7 to 2 that bothers me more than anything about the new schedule.

I'd chock that up to Samurai 7 losing to ThunderCats two weeks in a row and maybe a bit of bias from the programmers but also ThunderCats might have a future ahead of it if international distribution makes enough demand for another season while Samurai 7 is one and done. On the bright side Samurai 7 is available on AS on-demand services so it can be watched at a more convenient time after it airs and that does count toward its' success. Eureka 7 on the other hand is getting kicked around and has no AS related on-demand options. Hopefully it stays on Hulu but that doesn't do anything for Toonami.

I don't know if there's any chance for a second season for Thundercats. There's probably a better chance for that to happen than new episodes of Sym-Bionic Titan to get another season, if only because Thundercats is an established franchise, but still seems like a slim chance at best. I still think that putting GXP at 2AM would make a lot more sense than sticking Samurai 7 on that slot, especially when it was doing pretty well with ratings for awhile before the timeslot change. At least it is available On Demand, which does help out the block. I'm slightly surprised that they aren't doing that for Eureka 7 since that could help give it a bit of a boost, especially with its new timeslot.

It's probably because they don't have the rights to do so.

I also wanted to say, unlike the other anime Toonami has picked up, people aren't disappointed. People are either excited or...indifferent and probably don't like Naruto to begin with.

That's definitely possible. Airing the episodes uncut and possibly getting Shippuden in the future could really help build the block's popularity, which is one reason why I think it was a really good choice for them to make.

As for Naruto appearing on the block, while I was never a big fan of the show, it's a risk well worth taking. Given that Naruto was among Toonami's Top 3 hits, it has the potential to match, if not beat Bleach ratings. Now I could count on more than one hands on shows I would have rather seen, but there really isn't a reason to complain about it's inclusion since Naruto can only do good for the ratings.

At any rate, I'm going to give the show a second shot and at least Naruto finally fulfilled the fans cry for a classic Toonami show.

Judging from what the Tumblr page said, it looks like they asked the higher ups for more money to acquire Naruto. I think their budget is still pretty small.

Trust me, I'm well aware of the low budget. Which is why I've learned not to expect any specific shows anymore, since Toonami likes to surprise us.

Well, December 1 as Naruto re-launch date does make sense as it is the same date when the channel, Toonami, will be launched in Asia.
