"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Well, that didn't stop the old Toonami from showing Hamtaro. Granted, it was during their off days, but still.
Yeah, but Cartoon Network FORCED them to air Hamtaro on Toonami back then. They didn't have a choice in the matter, and have repeatedly said on Tumblr that they were always against airing it. Now they can control what they will air, and tey'll air whatever they like if they can jstify it as an action show. Serial Experiments Lain's main problem is that is somewhat "old" and they have said that they against airing "old" shows. If they can get it at a good price, though, they might be willing to change their mind.

Toonami's Tumblr just released the music video that's going to air this week:

Holy crap that video was awesome. Man, I really hope Toonami's ratings skyrocket (well, maybe just have each show surpass 1 mil and the occasional 2 mil for Naruto/Bleach) so that it could start an hour earlier and acquire a few more shows. Idk why but that video really got me pumped.

What a great video -- took me back a little bit to the old music videos they did in the real early 2000s

A bit late, but that video was seriously awesome. The clips work really well together. Those ratings for Toonami were terrific too. Hopefully, these good ratings will help to lead to a bigger budget so that they can afford more recent shows. Maybe they could get even the 11PM hour sometime next year if the ratings keep being strong like this.

Woah, 1.114 million? I think that may be the highest rating Toonami has gotten for anything since returning.

No, Bleach has beaten that several times. It's probably the highest for 12:30 though. Nothing since early Deadman has broke 1M in that slot.

Remeber back when Toonami was on before Adult Swim? They usually showed the first or 2 Adult Swim shows coming right after Toonami. So why don't they do the same with Cartoon Network?

I definitely do, sometimes it was painful to have to see though, cause it meant Toonami was ending. Wasn't bad at first though when anime did start at 11pm before [as] added Futurama and Sealab there. InuYasha and Wolf's Rain were those 2 [as] animes seen in the shows-ahead spots

I remember them saying on tumblr that is isn't gonna be a really big surprise, so i'm not really expecting a new show announcement or anything. maybe resolution to the whole tom thing from a couple months back. to be honest, i can'
t really think of what it will be.

Huh, have they used that old music (particularly the song used in the old World's Strongest promo) before during this [AS] run?

I'm already liking the new blue look. guess it makes sense; new colors for a new year of toonami.

I like the new color scheme. I was hoping that they would bring back the blue color from the daylight savings airing.

Here's the promo that aired tonight:
