This is seriously awesome news. I wasn't expecting One Piece to join the lineup until either the block got an expansion or Bleach ended. That's just so cool and definitely a good way of getting more ratings. Starting off where it left off when it aired on the original Toonami would be good since even without starting at the beginning for the general audience, I'm sure that a lot of One Piece fans would tune it and that would give it pretty solid ratings over time. I would be kind of disappointed if they couldn't expand the block by the time it airs. Having three long running shonen series taking up three slots seems like a bit much, even though Bleach will be over by sometime next year, so an extra hour would be helpful. They clearly have more of a budget now, so hopefully that can be possible at some point as well. At least this time, this is a shonen series that I actually like. Bleach bores me and I couldn't care less about Naruto. I don't mind having so many shonen shows on the lineup since they are popular and can give the block it needs to survive and get new shows.
I'm also quite glad that they said that the new Sailor Moon series is a possibility and that they're looking into it. While we don't know much about the series, although I'm still sure it would be a more faithful adaptation of the manga storyline, it would be a good fit for Toonami as it would provide some nostalgic material, in a sense, while providing something brand new at the same time. I'd love to see it air on Toonami in the future.
I'm surprised that they're having a movie night next week. That's pretty cool. I've never actually seen anything of Evangelion. I've read about it and watched some reviews of it, but never saw the series or any of the movies. I might check it out for the heck of it. The new TOM design looks pretty cool too. It's all really great news for the block and I'm quite happy to hear about it.
