The only possible con I could imagine them seeing for Tiger and Bunny might be the product placement (and maybe price at first, but post-One Piece I can't imagine that being a problem anymore). I can't think of ANY reason they wouldn't want to air Michiko & Hatchin, unless their taste is really just limited to fighting shonens only plus reruns.

My suspicion is that VIZ wanted too much money for Toonami to air Tiger & Bunny, and/or Toonami had priorities for other titles. If price was the issue, keep in mind that it might have been pitched a year ago, back when Toonami had less money to throw around. On another podcast, VIZ said they pitched Final Act to TV years ago too, and the failure of getting a TV deal was the reason they sat on the show for so long before finally releasing it.

Wait, hold on. "Pitching"? When I asked official sources about anime airing on TV, people (specifically someone who follows Sentai Filmwork's Facebook page and Justin Rojas of FUNimation) said that a network has to be interested in working with a distributor for an anime to air. And yet people are talking about shows being pitched to Toonami. Is there something I'm missing?

It's a little of both really. Some shows they ask for, some shows are pitched to them. Distributors can always pitch shows but that doesn't mean they'll get picked up.

Toonami mentioned how they had interest in The Final Act right around the time Toonami returned though. Guess they weren't able to at the time.

I probably wouldn't really want .hack airing on Toonami now anyways. //SIGN in particular is paced in such a way that showing it once-a-week is outright agonizing to watch. Trust me, I tried watching it like that once, it was painful.

It worked back then because they could strip it to weekdays, but since that's no longer in the cards, it'd be better to not air it.

Oh wow! Michiko and Hatchin looks amazing! I'd love to watch something that's akin to Tarantino's work. Funny enough, it feels like it fits Adult Swim more than Toonami... if that makes sense.

I just listened to the podcast... You're overreacting a little bit. They didn't say Toonami has zero interest in Tiger and Bunny, just that they pitched it to them and it wasn't picked up and hasn't been...yet. For all we know Toonami is interested in the title, but haven't the ability to pick it up at this time. Unless they outright say they have no interest in airing the show, there is still a possibility Toonami will pick it up in the future.

...which of course they didn't as //SiGN only aired 4 episodes on the short lived Super Saturdays block before it got dumped onto SVES where we had to wait five weeks to get back to new content. Then they buried Dusk and Roots at 2 AM on a Friday night with no advertising whatsoever.

Yeah Williams Street pretty much treated that show as an ugly stepsister from day one.

Let's not forget we had to put up with Casshern Sins week-to-week. Wandering from wasteland to wasteland, hearing robots go, "KILL CASSHERN!! DEVOUR CASSHERN!!", the main protagonist questioning what he did over and over again while seeing robots rust away in the process every week.

On another note, when did Jason and Sean say they hated .Hack//Sign? Where did this little piece of information come from? Would it hurt to provide a link for these things or at least say how you heard about it so that I don't have to feel so skeptical about whether there's truth to these things? Because anime fans love to quote the living crap out of various people in the business (I'll admit, I'm guilty of this) and even hold that quote to those people's graves. And when you combine that with anime fans getting emotional over the people they are quoting from (usually in a negative way), the truth behind the quote can get twisted and exaggerated. So I can never be too sure of what I'm hearing.

Also, it just hit me. The whole Tiger and Bunny issue is probably going to be asked multiple times for the next Q & A on the Toonami tumblr page, isn't it? That always seems to be the pattern with whatever questions they're asked where people want to know what were they thinking acquiring this kind of show?
