Recap of the Q&A so far:
- FLCL will be getting only one run. They're also trying to get the HD masters for the show.
- The ratings for The Big O were not lackluster. They just wanted to give it a break.
- Soul Eater and Sword Art Online will be replaced when they finish their runs.
- Most requested shows: Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto Shippuden, and Toriko.
- If the ratings stay high, there might be an expansion.
- They're not sure if they'll give Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood another run.
- They're done writing the Toonami comic. All they need to do is get it illustrated now.
- Miyazaki night not possible because the rights to the movies are all over the place.
- There will be a promo for FLCL.
- They're still working for free.
- The online stream counts for ratings.
- Ghost in the Shell will start from the first episode, not where they left off.
- They hope to acquire Attack on Titan.
- They're looking at Ghost in the Shell: Arise.
- They're willing to air hour-long shows and OVAs with varying length times.
- There were never any plans for a third season of IGPX. They always intended to end it within two seasons.
- If Star Wars: The Clone Wars wasn't available to them, there wouldn't be any American cartoons on the lineup right now.

An expansion would be great and it's nice to hear that it is possible. Seeing a Day of Miyazaki would be awesome, but I'm not surprised that the rights for the movies are all over the place. It would be a cool movie night though. It's too bad that they still work for free, but not too surprising. I could see them getting Attack on Titans due to how requested it is and it would give the another premiere of a popular series. Brotherhood getting another run or not will probably depend if it would be too much to pay for another run or if they have another new show set up to air after it finishes its run.

I think the biggest news from this morning's Q&A so far is Cowboy Bebop's rights have finally expired.
I guess it was to be expected this would happen eventually, but it's still a surprise. Hopefully they can work out something with Funimation and we get another long-term extension.

I'm just glad that they'll get the remastered version. They can finally restore the edits made back in 2001(well, except for the s-bomb). Maybe they can restore the ending song as well.

If restoring the ending song meant butchering the opening, I'd rather they not. TANK! shouldn't be touched at all.

FLCL only airs once for now and they lost Cowboy Bebop. I guess that means come late October they'll be airing every show they have on hand except Sym-Bionic Titan and Big O season 2.

I REALLY hope so. M to H is a show that I REALLY wanna see on Toonami. I never finished it, but I did see a good chunk of it, and it's perfect Toonami material.

1] Knowing FLCL will go a single run, I wonder if should they acquire HD masters, if they'd give it more than 1 just to make use of them

3] Thought as much. I like both shows, but could only stand to see Soul Eater repeat if they ever decide to do that
4] - I'm still primal and use a VHS (no DVR), so if it does become 7 hours, I can't record everything. I guess that calls for watching some of what I record when it plays to avoid that problem

Well I can't say I haven't seen Guilty Crown coming. Still... ick.

Also the "HD" masters for FLCL are uprezzes so there's nothing really to gain from waiting for them to air.

It's such a bad upscale that Adult Swim's stretchovision of the old tapes actually look better. Better off without them.

Hopefully once FLCL ends they can sneak Outlaw Star in the nostalgia slot since funimation recently saved it from The Bandaipocolypse

It is possible, but they'd stick to their previously-declared rule of only airing a set amount of shows per distributor for it to work. Funimation has 3 shows on the block, One Piece, Soul Eater and FMA: Brotherhood. The only way that they could air Outlaw Star (in theory) is if it was as a replacement for one of these shows. It's gonna make an interesting situation if they re-license Cowboy Bebop for airing since Funimation owns that now as well.

They could always remove FMA after this cycle though, leaving room for Outlaw Star (I would love it to air as well). That would mean it could air 11 weeks after FLCL ends (episode 47 airs this weekend, 17 episodes to go minus FLCL's 6 episodes this is barring schedule changes, but FMA is so late in the night where it would probably air even on movie nights), so they'd have to figure out to do with that hole. They could always start FMA again, or get another series from Funimation's back-catalog. This still leaves the question of what could replace FLCL as well assuming that its contract ends after this airing (Does it? I don't think they stated one way or the other about it).

That's a lot of weird math and speculation going on so tl;dr version:

• Outlaw Star can't replace FLCL because FLCL isn't a Funimation show (under the current contract).
• The earliest Outlaw Star could air is in 17 weeks when FMA: B ends.
• There will be a big hole in the schedule once FLCL ends that is up-for-grabs by anything.

I'm pretty sure FLCL would be a FUNi contract now seeing as the old licensee has been dead for years.

Guessing once FLCL ends we get a bunch of movies for December. Of course that leaves the question of what happens in January. Schedule shift to make room for Space Dandy at the top of the block (since Bleach is weakening and it makes sense to have a Watanabe show next to the Watanabe-influenced Boondocks). That would certainly be great news for the new year.

While I'm disappointed that M & H won't be on Toonami for a while (now I gotta scrape up the money to buy it), I think we're all missing the good news here.... ASStral Ocean won't be on Toonami this year! Granted, I'd much prefer that all existing copies of it be used exclusively for torture, but it not being on Toonami is just as good.

They mentioned years ago that they got the broadcast rights for FLCL directly from Production I.G, not Synch-Point. Which is why FLCL aired with the Japanese ending credits instead of the English credits.
