"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Age aside, I wouldn't mind seeing Orphen on the block. It was a fun show. I'd rather they didn't air the second season, though.

Yeah they might as well just air Gatchaman again since it's got a decent dub and isn't a horrid slap to the face like Crowds is.

Q/A should be starting now. Hey macattack, this could be a good chance to express what you think towards how the block has been handling Shippuden. (I so miss Hero's comeback right now....)

Just to make this comment now...

"Anonymous Asked: It's rather funny how the Space Dandy bumpers still say "World premiere"...even though it's already been 3 weeks after the premiere. XD"

"Each episode IS a world premiere. "

I was thinking about that last week, and it makes a lot of sense, and thought that might be why it's kept labeled as such.

The custom Toonami openings for Bleach and Naruto Shippuden are alright, but I would prefer to have shortened versions of the original openings. Is there any chance of those two shows switching over to shortened openings in the near future?

For now, we’re just not showing the original openings for those shows rather than editing them down. We hate to chop up things like those opens that people cherish, so we’d rather just cut them. Anyone who wants to see them can find them online, untarnished. We’re trying to get the full open and close for Space Dandy, since it’s the first show on the block, and once we do, we’ll need the time we gained by losing the Bleacj and Naruto opens. Make sense? Sort of?

Oro?

Basically, Bleach and Naruto are paying the price for a full Dandy. A bitter pill to swallow for someone like me who doesn't even enjoy Dandy that much. Whatever.

I wonder if they'd do the same for cutting any other anime's opening like Bleach/Naruto in the 11:30 slot if Toonami expanded to 11:00.

Oh well.

Had a feel we would start getting more serious episodes sooner or later.

I have my doubts this will necessarily lead to an ongoing arc of serious episodes. Even if this episode is entirely serious, I suspect the following episode will act as if this episode never happened just like the rest of the series.

Which I'm fine with. Whether a show decides to have a serial or episodic story structure doesn't matter to me at all.

Same here. Nothing wrong with the show being an episodic comedy, and I'm digging it. I just get the impression too many people are let down because they wanted it to be a serial.

I'm still cool with openings being cut, it just doesn't make sense with Shippuden because it isn't as long as the others so without the opening it becomes the shortest show on the block.

Anybody can make anything seem like something it's not. Space Dandy being primarily comedy, we're bound it have many places in laughs, even in the bits of that clip there. We don't know what stuff is being said. For all we know in that clip, Dandy makes a fool of himself or at least has a few stupid things to say but the girl pays no mind to it.

Exactly. This episode could be satirizing the concept of a dramatic episode, for all we know.

Hey guys, if you entered the t-shirt contests last month, you might want to check your email to see if you won. They've sent out the confirmation emails to the winners, and there's already been multiple reports of people who have gotten the notices saying the shirts will arrive to them in late February.

Including myself. I won the shirt with TOM on it. So hyped!

Sorry, but that show doesn't nearly hold a candle to the original Gatchaman series, which many of us remember as Battle of The Planets and G-Force in the states.

Fix'd!

Sorry! Its just that Battle of the Planets was the most succesful dub of Gatchaman.

Uncut Gatchaman on Adult Swim would ROCK. And It would redeem Jason de Marco in my eyes.

Like it's mentioned before, Naruto Shippuden and Bleach are paying the price for a full Dandy. They're getting butchered so Dandy can run without any time edits at all. Ironically, Dandy's opening and ending themes have yet to broadcast.

Today marks the 25th Year Anniversary of when Pokémon Crystal was released in North America. To this day, the Johto Games remain my favorite games in the Pokémon Franchise.
Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
