Well, we all saw that one coming. After Kill La Kill didn't turn out to be Gurren Lagann's replacement, I figured that it would be Sword Art Online II. I was hoping it would be something else instead, but this doesn't surprise me. While that's nice for fans of the first season and hopefully any success this second season has will help Toonami as a whole, I will avoid this show like the plague. I made the mistake of sticking with the first season for its whole run and I absolutely regretted it. Sword Art Online was completely terrible from beginning to end for me and easily the worst anime I've seen thus far. I hated it so much, much more than any other show I've seen before, and I do not want to watch another season of that thing. Hopefully, it won't be on before something that I actually want to watch.

I wouldn't mind seeing FLCL again if that turns out to be the case though. I actually really liked that show, so at least there would be one other show on the lineup that I'd actually want to sit through. Now I'm almost hoping that Kill La Kill appeals to me more since after Gurren Lagann and FLCL end their runs, assuming that they do put on FLCL before Sword Art Online II starts, the only show that I'll actually enjoy watching is One Piece. I'm more indifferent towards Final Act than anything else, but nothing has happened to turn me off from the show completely either. I just wouldn't say that I really like watching it like I do with One Piece and Gurren Lagann. My only other hope is that whatever replaces Deadman Wonderland is appealing to me.

As for what could replace Deadman, I'm expecting a cheap pick-up from Funimation's catalog. Hopefully something good like Heat Guy J, but I'd be surprised if it's anything too remarkable at 3am and with two big pick-ups already under their belt for this year. (Or I guess they could just go back to airing HD Bebop, but I'd rather they hold off on bringing Bebop back at the moment)

There are probably a few good choices they could make from Funimation's catalog for a cheap price. They might be trying to avoid reruns for the time being aside from Deadman Wonderland, so I don't know if they would go for another rerun. As long as the show is appealing enough for me, I don't mind either way.

Ok here's the good news: SAOII never makes it to episode 24 levels of vomit induction. Phantom Bullet ALMOST gets there at one point, but not quite.

Now the bad news...

A: ITS SOOO BORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING. Fanboys (yes they exist) complained about how Seven Days War butchered Aincrad's "great prose" in season 1 and regretfully Aniplex took it to heart. As such Phantom Bullet moves with the pace of molasses, wasting whole episodes on nothing but exposition and shots of Sinon's butt.

B: FILLER! Waste of time arc that serves no point... thy name is Calibur....seriously they wasted three episodes on that because Aniplex ran out of workable stories after cour 1. (and the sad part is its the best part of the season!)

C: YUKI!!!!!!....

...or Oh dear god...Kawahara REALLY doesn't know how AIDS works. This may be the most insultingly stupid arc in SAO history once you get past the "AWWWWW Sad Asuna is Sad!" bs.

Its not going to be as godawful season 1 was, I will give them that. But boy are you barking up the wrong tree if you're expecting something entertaining.

As for what replaces Deadman I wouldn't be surprised if they plug Bebop or Space Dandy into that hole. It's a bit late to run something new.

I looked at the schedule that replaced Toonami's back half and it is nothing but repeats from what aired earlier that night.

Looks like it'll be getting the 1am timeslot directly following Kill la Kill, bumping Shippuden and Inuyasha both down a slot. AniplexDomination has begun.

They should switch Inuyasha and Shippuden around. I don't care about either too much (actually like Shippuden more), but I think Inuyasha can pull in more viewers from the other shows.

I guess it's no surprise that they put the show in an earlier timeslot. At least I can avoid it without missing much of the block.

Didn't watch any of season one of SAO on Toonami and I sure as heck wont watch season two.

As far as its time slot: Sigh.... Toonami is starting to become difficult to watch for me as there's too many breaks in between show I want to watch.

People claim this beats series 1. I think it's a trap. Guess we'll find out.

I wouldn't take any Aniplex show off the table...GL is a 2007 show, so none of the others really have a "too old" problem.

Hey Funi's dubbing stuff mere weeks after episodes air now. It wouldn't surprise me if Bang Zoom wasn't already recording before Phantom Bullet even finished airing in Japan.

I have seen the second season of Sword Art Online and the best way I could describe it that it is better than the first season, but definitely doesn't say much. I have no desire to see it again.

(triple ugh) Mahouka when Kill la Kill ends in July.

I had never seen any of Mahouka, but from what I heard from people saying that it is terrible and that one of the main characters is a Gary Stu, it probably won't be a pleasant experience for me if it airs on Toonami.

I wouldn't say it's better. I would say it's different. Watchable but nothing special.

SAO II never reaches the lows of the first anime but it also never reaches the highs. It can be a bit on the dull side and though the pacing isn't bad it has the opposite problem the Aincrad storyline had.
