"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

I could see Attack on Titan doing better this time around. The main problem it had before was being at the start of the block. Now that it's airing at the tail end of it, it could do better ratings wise.

Really.

To bad you'll have to sit through yet another run of the Battle of Trost arc before we even get to the Female Titan arc again, which will take months.

I'm cool with that. Won't be too much harm, since I like the show.

It does make sense to air Attack on Titan seeing as how a second season is coming next year and I'm sure they're getting that. Although it's still quite some time until then, so I expected Bebop to air its HD tapes first.

It would have been cool to see casshern sins again

I liked it, but I'm fairly certain we'll never see it again. It didn't do that well, so I don't see why they should get the rights to it again.

Do not spread false information as if it's true. Wikipedia is not a good source for this information. DeMarco's Twitter or Toonami's Tumblr pages are better means to determine if they're going to get a specific show since not everyone can edit those sites like Wikipedia. Do not do this again.

I liked the series too, but I really doubt that they'd get the rights for the series again. I remember that the ratings were pretty poor for it and having such a slow first half to the series probably didn't help. Plus, I don't think that it really mixed well with the general audience that Adult Swim and Toonami attracts.

I completely forgot about the second season. That's probably another reason why they wanted to air it. Given that Funimation has started to dub some of the new series that they've picked up for this season, that could result in Attack on Titan's second season airing on Toonami much sooner next year.

Eir Aoi, the singer of Kill la Kill's theme song, has made a video message showing her support for the Toonami run of the show (her message starts at 1:39):

I can't see where they're getting this info from. I've double checked the AS Marathon page numerous times and all I see listed for Saturday is Eagleheart. Can someone point me in the right direction?

What a benefit. I only was able to watch the last half of Gurren Lagann and just One Piece (I record those two + Final Act) because I got careless and recorded something else which eliminated Final Act and the first half of Gurren - and as long as there is no log-in required (for service provide anyway) then I can watch what I missed. -- Usually this kind of thing happens long after my carelessness.

I would have preferred One Piece being on before Shippuden, if only because that way I could go to bed earlier, but I'm not surprised that they'd want Shippuden on first given that it has been doing well in ratings. Plus, it might help boost the later hours of the block. Since I'm avoiding the Aniplex hour like the plague and there will be only two shows that I'd actually want to watch on the lineup, I am tempted to just watch Final Act and One Piece On Demand instead of when I'm watching the block live. I'll have to think about that since I have become used to watching at least part of Toonami every week, but I'm also not sure if my household even counts for ratings.

If makes sense to air them in that order. I believe I said I thought it'd be better a few weeks ago. Glad to see them do it, even if I don't particularly care for InuYasha and Sword Art Online.

Unless I was half asleep last week, One Piece got the intro tonight for 8:30 rerun. Maybe someone can confirm it was shortened last week?

Also, maybe I am tried cause now I forget if Kai's intro was short or full at 8...

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
