"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

The last arc is a little over 200 chapters so the new Bleach anime will most likely be around 50-75 episodes. 100 tops if they choose to go the 2 chapters per episode route like most series do.

Also, VIZ doesn't do simuldubs so it will probably be several months between the Japanese and dub premiere assuming Toonami picks it up. Most likely late 2021.

And releasing an anime for Burn the Witch a few months after the manga debuts is a little strange. I'm guessing it will be a very short first season or contain mostly anime original content like Boruto.

Unlike Boruto, the Burn The Witch manga will apparently be a mini-series (Kubo said he already finished writing the whole series), so I expect the anime to be a short 13-26 episode show.

Burn the Witch?

Bad news for MHA and Black Clover.

No word on how it will affect on Toonami.

Admittedly, I am a bit disappointed since My Hero Academia's simulcast dub has been delayed a couple of times already, but it's obviously completely understandable. I don't want the people working at Funimation to risk their health just to get the dub out right when the Japanese version is released. Even the other delays were understandable considering that a lot of work goes into a simulcast dub. It is disappointing and I'm sure it probably will result in Toonami having to not air the series for awhile, but I am glad that they are prioritizing the safety of their employees so that they can work from home. I don't know how close Toonami is to the simulcast dub of Black Clover, so this might not affect them as much or at least as quickly as it probably will for My Hero Academia.

Bleach's new series is practically guaranteed to air on Toonami. It was a huge series for Adult Swim and it finished its run on the revived Toonami. It might take awhile since it isn't going to premiere until next year, but I could see Viz trying to get the dub out as soon as possible. Both Boruto and One Punch Man season two had dubs earlier than most people expected. I'd imagine that they'd want to make the Bleach dub a priority too. Personally, I've never been into Bleach, so the idea of Bleach airing on the block again doesn't do anything for me, but I'm sure fans will be happy about it if it does happen. People have wanted them to adapt the last arc into the anime for quite some time too.

Cool. All this time I thought they finished Bleach. What is this last arc again? The Blood war one?

I think MHA has 4 more episodes to go that have already been dubbed and Black Clover has over 10. We still have enough content for a few weeks. Have no idea what Toonami will air after the safety buffer is over.

Yes, it ended at the Fullbringer arc and never made it that far.

Thanks! I wonder if Toonami would do a Bleach replay or limited replay of episodes before starting the new episodes. Hmm, I don't recall if they did so for Inuyasha.

They used to play Inuyasha as the very last show before Cartoon Network back when they had all of post midnight. Bleach reruns are probably too expensive to have.

Yikes, Black Clover is in less of a predicament, but for MHA...I wonder if they would just air MHA reruns in that slot until more dub episodes are available.

I suppose this is the one risk of airing simuldubbed anime.

I don't see them airing Bleach reruns either. Not only because of how expensive they most likely are, but it would also take up too much time to go through the last arc that the previous anime series covered. They may just jump right into the new series like they did with One Piece. Although, maybe the first episode could be a quick way for someone to jump into the series, but since they're adapting the last arc of the manga, that probably isn't too likely.

I could see them either temporarily shorting up the block's lineup until they can get new episodes. Putting in MHA reruns or just another rerun later in the block are also possibilities. I don't think that they'd go with a brand new series for a few weeks, especially when they might not be prepared to get a new series on the lineup either.

Of course, it's likely that there won't even be a MomoCon this year, as a number of May conventions are already being cancelled.

No A Kon and it's their 30th anniversary.

That is understandable since a lot of cons are being cancelled or postponed. It's still too bad since they usually have some announcements at MomoCon, but they can always just put the announcements online instead.

Bleach is really, truly coming back and you know what that means.... Toonami airing, possibly even a debut around the corner.

Remember, Viz has a slow turnaround time for their dubs, usually a year minimum. "Around the corner" might not be until 2022.

At this point with all this crap going on thry probably going to try to get as much stuff as they can for people to watch.

Jojo and SAO might be affected as well. VIZ is still dubbing Golden Wind and Aniplex probably hasn't begun work on Alicization part 2 yet. Businesses have to limit the amount of people in the building at one time and some of their voice actors may be undergoing self quarantine.

I can see Toonami airing more marathons in the coming months depending on the extent of the delays. And I hope this won't be the case but I can also see them replacing Demon Slayer and SAO with reruns of DB Super or something else instead of a new show.

I wish Toonami still aired flicks. A lot of their current and past shows have films and with the potential delays now would be a great time to do a movie month as a short break.

They could air anime that's not a brand new simuldub, but hasn't aired on Toonami yet. There's been lots of anime this past decade they have passed up on.
