Toonami Ratings

The Lucky 7's, GXP, & Geminar are all available at Hulu though I'm not sure about the english ep. You can check Funimation's own site for that. If we are talking personal preference then I would prefer S7 be replaced by IY ep 148 (series recap ep) with the intent of it moving up when TCats ends & let it roll into IY:FA. IY's never had the benefit of Naruto as a lead so I expect it to do well. That gives Neon Alley plenty of time to finish FA's 1st run in Feb & complete a 2nd run by the time TOONAMI rolls into it. Similarly I'd like to see S-BT replaced by Basilisk. It's a love-story at it's core & that should do well with IY viewers. Both would move up when TCats ends. Basilisk shouldn't cost them any more than S7. It will probably cost them less. Assuming E7:AO replaces E7 & Geminar replaces GXP, the lineup would be set through the summer then.

I think they have the $ for all of that as the sponsor support was very strong this past Fall through the Christmas season. It had been weak since, until last weekend. They have a new group of national sponsors again which suggests the level of competiton for the space. I don't think they need to run Naruto every weekend. I don't know if they are still paying per ep, but I think they could take a break when IY:FA premieres. That would allow room for a short series like PS&G to premiere in late summer behind it.

fyi: ‘Animation Domination High Def’ FOX’s New Alternative Animated Programming Block, to Premiere Saturday, July 27 - Ratings | TVbytheNumbers They apparently need more time to put together enough material to fill the time. TOONAMI will ;ikely have to suffer through weak 11p leads until then.

The phrase "can never air it again" is an exageration.

Except it isn't. You do realize they outright said "it can never air again" because of the numerous questions on the subject right? They were correct on the matter because its not going to air again on Toonami. "Toonami" is primarily focusing on shows that never aired before on the block(outside of the rating grab of Naruto) so Megas does not fit in the direction to the point of being considered "not worth recovering".

Secondly, I'd rather believe a twitter and tumblr source from the actual Toonami crew involved in the business than a normal Toon Zone user who uses wiki as their source material for the subject.

*sigh* You're never gonna give up on this, are you?

This is interesting! Almost none of the shows dropped to the 600,000 mark.

Thundercats is slowly starting to spread away from the millions though..hm.

I was talking about how Eureka Seven, the later episodes anyway, aren't available online. Only the first half of the series is up on Hulu. Personally, I never cared for Inuyasha, so I wouldn't care to see Final Act on the lineup. I still wouldn't want to see Geminar on the block and considering how much I don't like Eureka Seven, I don't know if I'd want to see AO on the block either. Although, given the choice, I'd choose AO just because I have absolutely no desire to see another Tenchi series. Plus, I'd like to see something different on the lineup than sequels/continuation of two other series currently airing on the block.

Considering the ratings Naruto is bringing in, they do need to air an episode every week. They had to get more money from the higher ups to get Naruto, so I don't think that they'll stop for a week for a different series. I could see them doing that maybe if they air airing movies.

As for the recent ratings, they look pretty solid. Bleach and Naruto are still going over the million mark with Naruto doing better than Bleach did I think. Thundercats is still doing really well and I'm glad to see that there wasn't as much of a huge drop between the ratings for Thundercats and Samurai 7 as there was last week. Sym-Bionic Titan and Eureka Seven did pretty well for themselves. It seemed like a good week for the block.

Woah, Samurai 7 came really close to cracking a million.
Closest it's ever been?

Once again, Naruto was the highest-rated show of the night.

And the drop from Sym-Bionic Titan to Eureka Seven wasn't as bad this time.

Not. Bad.

Naruto's getting the job done to be sure. It almost made the top 50 and it beat the Childrens Hospital rerun at Midnight on Thursday which had a Family Guy lead-in of 2.6 million. It makes you wonder how well Naruto would do following Family Guy.

Boondocks managed 1.3 but Dynamite got 1.1 million once again losing a substantial amount of viewers from it's lead. If Naruto passes The Boondocks and Bleach comes back to premieres with slightly higher numbers then 11PM is very much within Toonami's reach.

Is that over a million for Frisky Dingo and China, IL reruns on Sunday? This pleases me greatly but I doubt it will last. It goes to show you how much stronger Sunday can be when it isn't hammered by cable premieres.

Mostly above 700,000 for Toonami. Looks like we're starting this year off with a bang!

I'm liking this a lot. Naruto is the highest rated show of the night again. If Naruto getting these ratings with a rerun bleach lead in, it'll be interesting to see how well it does once bleach goes back to premieres.

I like how the ratings actually rose from 2:30 to 4 am.

TGXP is still doing well at 3:00 am.

Not only are those ratings good, but they're actually higher ranking than usual (of course that's because New Years' Eve ratings sucked, but still).

This is nothing but good news for hopes of One piece and Fairy Tail. If TOonami gets those, I really hope that they get the 11PM hour back. Naruto would probably do amazingly there, and OP or FT can be a lead in. IMO, FT's first few episodes have weak animation and are over-narrated, but once they get to Grey's arc, it's all good from there, IMO.

One Piece and Fairy Tail being on Toonami would be so awesome. I would prefer it if they didn't get them until they got the 11PM hour, if only because there would be two hours taken up by four long-running Shonen Jump series with only one of them having an end date in sight, or two if we count Naruto. Still, it would be a nice way to attract more viewers and seeing more One Piece would be great. I've been watching Fairy Tail through Funimation's On Demand service and it is pretty enjoyable. The first few episodes aren't that impressive and the narration gets seriously annoying, but it is pretty fun. It has a nice combination of action and humor with some emotional moments thrown in here and there and I agree that it really does pick up once Grey's arc starts. Both of those shows coming to Toonami would be great.

Adult Swim Weekly Ratings Scorecard | TV Media Insights – TVMI – TV Ratings – Network TV Show Reviews Bleach 1164, Nar 1235 TCat 951, S7 929, S-BT 814, E7 704, GXP 722, Fm:B 728, CB 715, IY 700.

vs Jan, 2012: Bleach -100k vs Bleach, Nar +300k vs FmB, TC +200k vs Drrr, S7 +250k vs Kek, S-BT +190k vs FLCL, E7 +80k vs CB, GXP +150k vs BigO, FmB +200k vs GitS, CB +150k vs Bleach, CB +150k vs FmB, IY +150k vs Drrr, IY +120k vs IY. It's obvious GXP is lifting the 2nd half of TOONAMI big time! Which is only further proof a FOX sitcom encore can do well as it's lead.

While I am certainly hoping that TOONAMI can expand to 11p, FOX adhd now has a firm start date of July 27. I don't see [as] originals giving up the slot before then.

Wrt Megas XLR, can never = forbidden, won't = not worth doing. People exagerate all the time, I pity those who can't tell the difference. I'll let it rest when others do.

You pity those who can't tell the difference? There's no need for that condescending attitude.

Those are some nice gains over January 2012. I guessing that's data you took from the other website that had Bronx's posts that are no longer available to the public.

Weekly Ratings Notes for Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, truTV & TBS: ‘Robot Chicken’, ‘Hardcore Pawn: Chicago’, ‘Impractical Jokers’ & More - Ratings | TVbytheNumbers Turner weekly report. Nothing about Sat this time. The avg gains for [as] are coming from major gains during PT. The decline of the originals is obvious from the sobr data. The Jan data I used in comparison came from there less than 8 mo's ago so I'm surprised if it's no longer available.

The only way I can see TCats getting a 2nd consecutive run is if LEGO is paying for it. That's entirely possible giving it's comparison to CHIMA & that's starting soon for CN. LEGO might want to use TCats on TOONAMI to pimp CHIMA toys. Still I'm doubtful this is the right time. I don't think a lot of toys get sold in spring. If I were LEGO I would wait until Fall thru Christmas before sponsoring TCats again.

The other two candidates for TOONAMI from CN are GL & YJ. There's a brief in this report about them as well. I believe YJ produced a better seasonal avg than GL especially in 18+. I'm in favor of YJ but not Invasion. Invasion is to melo-dramatic & war driven. There's not much humor in it. The first season was much better. YJ would pave the way & buy some time for a New52 series to join the lineup in 2014.

Personally, I have yet to read a reason as to why I should believe you over people who are actually involved with the business and this attitude certainly doesn't help. It just makes you look incredibly disrespectful and please don't pity me. I don't want it and I'm pretty sure others don't either. They can't air Megas XLR and even if Cartoon Network had the rights to it still, I don't think that it could simply because it is rated TV-Y7, instead of TV-PG. Even with the nostalgia appeal from its cult following, I can't see Adult Swim airing a TV-Y7 show on their lineup.

Since you won't leave it alone neither will I. It was I who challenged it in the first place & no reason has EVER been offered in this discussion demonstrating why CN is forbidden from airing Megas XLR ever again. After I challenged it is when further info came to light about POSSIBLE tax filing ramifications if CN were to re-establish a cable license for Megas XLR. Since no one else on this thread had an inkling of what that was about I brought up amoritization which is a very common practice in the iindustry. That does not forbid a network from doing anything with a show nor does it require it to modify it's previous yr's tax filings. A simple action such as a re-master of the original series with modern sound technology would establish Megas XLR as a new production for CN Studios but clearly you don't undestand that.

Now I really don't care what you believe & I never told you what to believe. You are free to think what you want. But if you think re-hashing this is going to change my opinion on the subject you are wasting your time. It's not just on the subject of Megas XLR specifically but the larger debate of wiki vs twitter. You & others clearly give more credence to twitter. I have explained in detail the difference between their editorial control process but you either fail to understand that or simply choose to ignore it. Either way constantly re-hashing this is not going to change my opinion there either. As I said before, I will leave it alone when you do.

As for a personal preference for TOONAMI, once again having found out Megas XLR is Y7 FV I no longer want it on TOONAMI. I draw a line in the sand at PG. The only remaining interest I have in Megas XLR then is the video game because I expect that to be rated T for Teen at least.

I'm not supporting either side of this argument, but wasn't Voltron rated TV-Y7 when it debuted on CN? It's been on [as] before, and I think [as] just changed the rating to TV-G, so even if Megas XLR did air on [as], they could just change it to TV-G. Voltron's not even the only TV-G show [as] has aired - they aired classic Popeye and Astro Boy (the latter recently during the AFD prank) and I think some King of the Hill episodes are rated TV-G as well (they want to get the rights to The Simpsons as they've stated several times - some episodes of that are TV-G).

I think I've posted this before, but ratings changing per network is not a new thing. They always change it depending on what goes on with the show, the network, advertising purposes, etc. The V-Chip isn't like the MPAA. For example, when The Tick was on Fox Kids, it was rated TV-Y7, but during a brief run on Comedy Central, it was rated TV-G. Obviously TV-Y7 is a rating CC wants to avoid too ;) Upon the show's Jetix debut, the rating was back to a TV-Y7.

Of course, those are completely different networks, but remember - CN and [as] are seen as "different networks" too. I think some of the classic Scooby-Doo shows and even Dexter's Laboratory when from a TV-Y7 to a TV-G on CN (and I think Boomerang too). I know Hamtaro started as a TV-Y and eventually became TV-G as well, and all of this was just on regular CN. I'm not saying I think this will happen, but if Megas were to air on [as], they would have no trouble changing the rating to a TV-G.

EDIT: Of course! And how could I forget The Ripping Friends? That's a show [as] pulled from Fox Kids! Also from TV-Y7 to TV-G.

Oh yeah. Naruto is doing what they picked it up to do: get ratings. Obviously there is still an audience for these Naruto reruns (I am sure the fact that the episodes are not cut for time or violence beyond the sacrifice of the OP/ED/previews is helping). The keeping of the blood promise, where Naruto cuts himself and there's quite a bit of blood seeping from the wound, is pretty much proof to the average viewer that they will not cut Naruto for content. Hopefully that means the ratings will continue to go up. Naruto cost AS a pretty penny but so far it is proving worth it. It nearly broke the top 50 as Sketch-man said, and it has beaten Black Dynamite for two weeks in a row. As we move deeper into the fan-favorite Land of Waves Arc, there's a chance the ratings will go even higher, especially once Bleach returns to premieres.

Toonami has found a winning schedule. Seriously, ratings like these are incredible especially when compared to the ASA leftovers of yesteryear. Too bad it comes with Samurai 7 so close to ending. Hopefully, the new show they pick up will keep the momentum up.

Megas XLR was Y7-FV back in 2004. It'd probably get rated TV-PG on CN now given Generator Rex, ThunderCats, Adventure Time, Regular Show, MAD and even The Looney Tunes Show get PG ratings. CN rated violent and bloody episodes of DBZ Y7-FV back then and I'm not talking about the uncut dub which got a blanket PG rating. There's no reason they couldn't rate it TV-PG, they merely didn't do that back in 2004.Megas XLR is certainly the kind of show where parental guidance is suggested.

And I'll pity those who find the need to disrespect other users in order to justify themselves ;).

I'm loving how Samurai 7 is at least gaining this type of attention near the end. :)
