Synopsis for season 3 episode 23:
In this first of a four part story Spider-Man, The Avengers and the Agents of SMASH battle their greatest foes for the fate of the planet.

So the final 4 episodes of season 3, Episodes 23, 24, 25 and 26 are parts 1 to 4 of: Contest of the champions.
I thought there were rumours to an Echo episode but a guess there isn't one unless season 3 is more then 26 episodes.
What do you think??

Spoilers for : Revenge of Arnim Zola

He absorbs Spidey into his new body in a plan to transfer his mind into Spidey's body, Spidey is saved by Venom and Rhino who start to work together.
Spidey defeats Arnim by borrowing Amadeus Cho's Iron Spider Armour and creates an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) that shuts down all computers so Arnim can't upload his mind and escape.

Watching Revenge of Arnim Zola:

"Shhhh....it's almost over now, Spider-Man."

*Spider-Man's consciousness is being replaced by Arnim Zola's. Which is the equivalent of having his soul erased.

Chilling....

I managed to see the episode at last, and I have some things to say:
+ Mistake at the beginning with Spidey's recap of the previous episode: Dagger was naver replaced by a Synthezoid.
+ The Hybrid Synthezoids of the villains (Doc Ock/Juggernaut and Scorpion/Whirlwind).... I'm not gonna lie, they made me want to vomit and they were creepy, but they were interesting adversaries. You know?, they could have created a Synthezoid mixing all the powers of the Sinister Six; just like the Super-Skrull from the "Secret Invasion" with the Sinister Six's powers.
+ Rhino and Venom continuously fighting each other was getting my nerves. Thank godness they finally stopped at the right moment. But I have to say, it was really weird to see Rhino hugging Spidey as "best buddy and stuff".
+ Arnim Zola's first new robot body was cool and powerful.
+ His second new robot body using the powers of the captive prisioners, that was really low. Not to mention it was absurd. I mean, how is it possible for a machine to reproduce Iron Fist's or Venom's powers without any organic parts?
+ I'm quite tired of seeing other people stealing Spidey's body: Wolverine, Hulk, Loki and now Arnim Zola. Make this stop once and for all!!!
+ The way Zola was trying to take Spider-Man's body, I recognize the allusion to "Superior Spider-Junk". I almost smashed my screen in rage like Hulk, because I really hate that story!! (I really hope they won't try to do that again, even although Ock made a reference in the first episode of the third season after Loki did it).

+ Spidey using his team's powers, now that was awesome overload. Too bad it couldn't happen in the real world. I think Spidey is way worthier of those powers than his teammates. I guess he combined Iron Fist's attack with Power Man's strength in his attack.
+ I didn't expect seeing Ant-Man here. The way Zola used his powers, it seems like Ant-Man already has "unlocked" his "Giant-Man" part. Although they keep drawing him in his original helmet instead of the new one from the Avengers' series.
+ The way Rhino tried to awake Spidey with a roar, anyone recognize a reference to the Hulk awaked Iron Man in the first Avengers' movie?
+ I was really happy to see Spider-Man using the Iron Spider's armour again. He really deserves it much more than Amadeus. Cho only uses the "Iron Man" part, but not the "Spider-Man" part.
+ The way Arnim Zola was defeated, turning off an old TV, was really hilarious. However, I'm quite convinced that we haven't seen the last of Zola. I'm quite sure he will return, and it will bring us an animated version of the Clone Saga.
+ Don't you think it was ridiculous how quickly the Triskellion and the Academy were rebult so quickly? I mean, I supposed they were going to be because of the X-Mas episode, but I really wanted to see Spidey back to Midtown High as Peter Parker.

Thanks for all the info you posted, ChessKing. Now, about the next episodes:
+ AWESOME!!! A crossover between the three current animated series!!! I really hope this means we will soon see Hulk leaving the Avengers to form the Agents of SMASH.
+ There's something bothering me. In previous interviews, they said the Web Warriors would return (at least Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales and Spider-Girl); and that Spidey will even meet more Spider-Characters at the end of the season. I hope they didn't lie, but I'm not sure how they are going to use this with the Contest of the Champions.

I have something else to comment, but I will wait for some answers.

So when are we getting new episodes on Disney XD?

I'd guess they'd want to unload something during the summer, probably save the Ant Man episode for August. It will be interesting to see if they promote any other events like Spider-Verse or Ultron-Athon.

Scene from Part 1 of 4.

Hmm... Spidey's comments towards The Collector and the latter's demeanor seems to imply that the Contest of Champions takes place after The Collector episodes in Agents of SMASH. If Hulk hadn't been with the Avengers at the start of the season, I'd say that would be confirmation that USM and Agents of SMASH are concurrent in the timeline .

Maybe this will make it a bit easier: Marvel Animated Universe - Timeline

;)

Spoilers for Contest of Champions part 1:
The episode opens with Peter web swinging to meet his aunt for lunch and witnessing her being teleported somewhere, He goes to Avengers tower for help only to find Beetle, Abomination and Skurge waiting for him.
He is attacked by them but before they can get him he is teleported to Collectors ship and meets The Grandmaster and is told about the Contest of Champions and is chosen to be on Collectors team.
In the first round of the contest Spider-Man is is partnered with Hulk and Ironman against The Grandmaster's team of villains consisting of Kraven, Molten Man and The Wendigo King.
Hulk is taken out by Kraven using some sleeping dust used to bring down Rhino's in the wild.
Ironman is taken out by Molten Man burning his Armour making it so Ironman can't move.
Spider-Man takes out all 3 by himself winning the first round of the contest for Collector against Grandmaster.
Spidey defeats Molten Man by leading him to the docks and causing him to burn through a wooden bridge into the water below.
Spidey defeats Wendigo King by tricking him into one of Kraven's net traps and then using Electro-webs electrocutes him.
Spidey defeats Kraven by snapping his spear and then giving him a beating until he is knocked out.
The episode ends with Spidey saying he will save all the hostages and win the contest for the heroes.

I managed to see the episode, and I have a few things to comment.

+ I have to say, seeing Abomination (Hulk's nemesis) against Spider-Man was really anti-climatic, and a way too unfair fight. By the way, when did he get the new look? Will he have it in his next appearance in the "Hulk and the Agents of SMASH"?
+ Speaking of which, this story apparently seems to happen after the Collector's episodes in the Hulk's series. Spidey recognized the Collector's ship ("The Collector"), and the Collector appears to be kinda "reformed" ("It's a Wonderful SMASH", by the Orb of Truth). So why did Hulk appear with his "Avengers" pants instead of his "SMASH" pants?
+ Another clue of that, Hulk recognized the Wendigo King. (Nice one for Spidey to mention Wolverine after seeing him). By the way, how did he return in the first place after his apparent "destruction" in Hulk's series? Did the Grandmaster resurrect him?
+ According to their "board", it looks like there are 14 heroes against 14 villains, and 28 innocent civilians. But when they showed the heroes/villains in their "capsules", some of them doesn't fit or appear in the board. Any idea of how many players are in this game?
+ Between the civilians, maybe I'm wrong, but I believe Aunt May was between Coulson and... Norman Osborn? Call me paranoid, but I smell something "Goblinishy" around here.
+ It was very humilliating for Hulk and Iron Man being defeated so easily by Kraven and Molten Man. Looks like others heroes tend to understate not only Spidey, but his foes too.
+ I really hate the Grandmaster. That jerk playing with earthlings as toys, and then threatening Aunt May's and others lives to obligate Spidey to play.

Honestly, I don't know how I'm going to wait until next week for the next episode.

So basically the COC storyline is actually Secret Wars but with the "Contest of Champion" title and the Gamemaster and the Collector the only thing that has anything to do with the 2 COC mini series.

When they said the Web Warriors would return and that we would even see more Spider-Characters at the end of the season, I think they might have said that for all the marvel animated shows as a whole in the recent Hulk and the agents of S.M.A.S.H. episode titled: Days of Future Smash part 1: The Dino Era, time travel altered the timeline and we met a dinosaur with spider powers named: Spider-Raptor and in season 1 of Avengers Assemble we met Slinger a Spidey from Planet Doom.

So it might not be just for Ultimate Spider-Man but all of the shows, We just have to wait and see.

Hope we get to see the rest of these episodes soon.

I don't think so, ChessKing. I was surprised by "Spider-Raptor" in the latest episode of Hulk too, but that made me suspect that maybe this is one of the "new Spider-Characters" that will debut at the end of the series. And I don't think Slinger can be counted, because his episode debuted just at the end of Season 2 of "Ultimate Spider-Man". And by that time, we still didn't have any new about "Web Warriors". Besides, Slinger was basically Spider-Man Noir with modern technology.

There's one thing however that bugged me since last Halloween. At the beginning of this episode, the Agents os SMASH were disguised as trick-or-treaters. the thing that called my attention the most was that She-Hulk was disguised as a female version of Spider-Man. She said something about "getting to be one of her favorite superheroes" and calls herself "Spider-Girl", just like Petra Parker, Spidey's female counterpart. That was really suspicious to me. Would this mean that She-Hulk knew Spider-Girl at some point? And how? I believe it should be at some point before the Agents of SMASH were framed by the Leader and lost in space. Then I realized, this "Contest of Champions" could be the answer to all my doubts.

By the way, I have a few suspictions about what it could happen in the last episodes:
+ Things will go really bad for the superheroes' side. Surely, Spidey will be one of the last players of his side, against possibly some of the most powerful villains of the Grandmaster's side. (I surely bet that the Green Goblin will be one of those, as it will be restored by the Grandmaster).
+ I believe Spidey will only have as partners Iron Spider and Agent Venom, leaving three Spiders against the remaining villains, outnumbered and with inferior firepower.
+ Then, as a last resource, Spidey will get an idea. After somehow getting the Siege Perilous, Spider-Man will use it to summon "special reinforcements" in the form of the Web Warriors.
+ I suspect some of the old Web Warrios will return (Spider-Girl, Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2099), but not all of them. (Spider-Man Noir and the Spyder-Knight will surely feel too unfamiliar wit this situation). And the same time, some other "Spider-Characters" could replace them. One of them could surely be the new "Spider-Raptor".
+ This also made me think something. Do you remember that, in Miles Morales' reality, Miles said that Peter Parker saved the world? I have been wondering how could that happened in the first place. Then I realized, maybe the "Contest of the Champions" is where Peter Parker sacrified his life to save the world from the consequences of the contest.

Well, what do you think?

Peter Parker sacrificing his life to save the world from the consequences of the contest, if that happens it means Peter didn't enter another reality but a future timeline and it would make quite a twist for the series.
I guess we just have to wait and see.
Has the series been renewed for a fourth season or has it been cancelled??

Not exactly, ChessKing. Remember, before he met Miles, Spidey traveled to the world of Miguel O'Hara (Spider-Man 2099). This clearly confused Spidey, and he said "This is 2099? Goblin didn't say anything about time travel. So, as much as this place looks like some freaky "Tomorrowland", it must be an alternative reality!". The same thing can happen for Miles' world.

My idea is that, in Miles Morales' world, Peter Parker didn't have the Siege Perilous to summon the help of the other Spiders; so to save the world from the consequences of the Contest, Peter didn't have any other choice but to sacrify himself. (I suspect the "DemoGoblin" from Miles Morales' world was actually created by the GrandMaster). But in the "Mainstream reality", since Spiderman can use the Siege Perilous, Peter's sacrifice will be avoided, making his world a different one from Miles Morales' one. If my theory is correct, I suspect that, when Spidey will summon the Web Warriors, Miles Morales' could surely warn Peter that this was the event that caused the demise of Peter Parker in his reality. So, Miles will surely warn Peter about certain events that will allow him to win this battle without dying.

But if my suspiction is correct, this could mean that at the end of this arc, the Miles Morales from Peter's world could gain his Spider-Powers. And who knows?, maybe other people could also gain Spider-Powers, like Mary Jane. This could also cause Aunt May and some others of Peter's beloved ones to discover his secret identity.

And I'm not sure about the last thing, but there are some rumors about a potential Season 4 of the series, also titled "Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors"; possibly meaning they treat Season 3 and 4 as a new series. I honestly hope so, because we are left with a lot of good material for more future episodes. Just like in Season 2 we have hints about the debut of the Vulture thanks to Ock's animal serums (along with Lizard, Rhino and Scorpion), there are hints about material not used this season that it could be used for a next one. New heroes (Speedball, Gravity and Echo), new villains (Mysterio, from Disney Infinity 2.0), new allies (Black Cat, also from DI 2.0), and new events (like discovering who were the 12 kids used in Doc Ock's experiments with DNA, Kangaroo between them). and since they used the Spider-Verse arc in the series, there are two other arcs that it could be awesome to see: Spider-Island and the Clone Saga. I simply hope for the best.

If the rumors are true about more versions of Spidey appearing. Heres the ones I hope to see(I'm channeling Spider-Man TAS and Shattered Dimensions here)

*Black-Suit Spider-Man
-A Peter Parker who bonded to the Symbiote but remained in full control.(Harry Osborn becoming Black Spider was a total rip, that should always be Peter's thing)
*Octo-Spider-Man
-A Peter Parker that defeated Doc Ock and took his mechanical arms.
*Six-Armed Spider-Man/Man-Spider
-A Peter Parker that's mutated to have extra arms.
*Silver Armor Spider-Man
-Just like the Spider-Man TAS version, hes essentially Tony Stark in Peter Parker's skin, arrogant, wealthy, owns his company and his identity is public knowledge, everybody loves him even John Jonah Jameson and Uncle Ben is still alive in his reality. Imagine how funny it would be for him to interact with Tony Stark.(A taste of his own medicine)
*Future Foundation Spider-Man
-A Peter Parker that joined the Future Foundation group instead of SHIELD in an alternate reality.

It's funny how this takes place after HAOS but hulk looks more like from Avengers Assemble so he sounds like the former but looks like the latter.

Yeah, I remember those Spideys. Unfortunately, I wouldn't count on seeing those same Spiders in this series; unless they are planning to do a crossover between old Spider-Man's series. I think we should think about the different looks that Spidey had in the current series to imagine the kind of alternative Spiders we could meet in future episodes:

+ Black Suit Spider-Man: A reality were Peter ended trapped inside the Symbiote Venom, just like Flash as Agent Venom. It could be also be an alternative version of Harry Osborn, where he was the one bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter. Then, when Venom was created, he ended trapped inside it just like Flash as Agent Venom.
+ Slinger: From "Planet Doom", a Spider-Noir updated to the 21st century. He could really be more useful in the mainstream reality than a guy from the 30s of the past century.
+ Spider-Raptor: From Hulk's series, I think it could be as useful, if not even more, than Spider-Ham. Not trying to insult the Ham, but a Raptor is way more intimidating.
+ "Spider Supreme": A magic Mumbo-Jumbo caused Spider-Man being merged in spirit with Doctor Strange, turning him into the new "Supreme Sorcerer".
+ "Spider-Kung Fu": From "Journey of the Iron Fist". A world where Scorpion possibly managed to kill Iron Fist to take the throne of K'un-Lun, so Spidey had to train in K'un-Lun's ways to stop Scorpion and do the hero thing.
+ "Man-Spider": From "Savage Spider-Man", a Spider-Man whose mutation went more away than usual, becoming more Spider than Man.
+ "Spider Soldier": From "For your Eye only", a Spider-Man more violent, trained in the war's way.
+ "Carnage": I doubt it, but it could be a way to use this character regularly in new episodes.

There was also several "never before seen" Spider back in the comics' version of "Spider-verse", which they could actually work in the animated series. Check them:
+ Spider-Torch: A Spider-man who also gained the powers of the Human Torch.
+ Spider-Tarzan: Spider-Man who, probably, has the role of Ka-Zar in his reality.
+ Spider-Wolverine: Mesmero ended causing Wolverine and Spider-Man fused together?
+ Spider-Hulk: Mesmero did the same thing, but with Hulk?
+ Spider-Fist: A Spider-Man who apparently has the role of Iron Fist in his reality. According to some writers, his version of the "Iron Fist" is using Chi's Energy to create four extra arms; like the classic "six-armed Spider-Man".
+ Spider-Pool: A Spider-Man who went wacko without Aunt May and took the role of Deadpool?
+ Octo Spider: OK, this is like the one of the 90's series.

And there are also some ideas from my mind, about realities where other people was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. See:
+ Flash Thompson: Possibly like his comic counterpart as "Captain Spider".
+ Mary Jane Watson: I bet she would be like her future daugther, May "Mayday" Parker.
+ Harry Osborn: Either Harry gets extremely corrupted or he realiza that his father is a monster even before he became the Goblin.

Well, opinions?

It's official: I have now preordered GTA VI for PlayStation 5; the more expensive and feature-complete Ultimate Edition of the game, that is.
