Well my shot at starting one of these threads. Unicorn Academy is a book series which recently was adapted into an animated show for Netflix as of November 2023.

The premise as described by Netflix:
When a dark force threatens to destroy Unicorn Island, a brave teen and her five schoolmates must rise up to protect their beloved magical academy.

Season 2 is arriving to Netflix this month on the 27th.

As for why I'm giving it a shot now, I was made aware of several S2 episodes getting a full advanced upload to YT courtesy of the series channel and Netflix After School.

First they also did the pilot for S1:

And S2:

I'm not usually one to talk about shipping, but I wanted to talk about how I actually ship Sophia and Ava. Both are quite opposite, with Sophia being more stubborn and temperamental while Ava is more gentle and open hearted. However, both girls are ultimately those who place strong emphasis on doing what's right even when it's not easy. There's actually this interesting video uploaded to the Unicorn Academy YouTube channel. It takes the usual extended version of the Follow Your Heart theme song, makes it Galentine's Day themed, and centers on their friendship for most of it. This is basically making it romantic themed.

Missed this, but Star Showers & Wildstar's Dream were uploaded to YT a couple months after S2 debuted on Netflix:

The show is getting 2 specials this year, with 1 of them coming on April 9.

Since today is National Unicorn Day, it's fitting that Unicorn Academy would release something special. The special "Legendary Summer" is awesome.

"Media that centers on the relationships between girls and their horses are pretty commonplace, but they usually have something to them that makes them stand out. Unicorn Academy is no exception. I’ll be reviewing the special “Legendary Summer”, which came out on April 9, 2025, also known as National Unicorn Day. Talk about fitting. Spoilers are ahead. Let’s begin.

Before I talk about the special, let me tell you what the show is about. Unicorn Academy is a Netflix show produced by Spin Master Entertainment and Mainframe Studios based on the Unicorn Academy books by Julie Sykes and Linda Chapman that first came out on November 2, 2023. The series was developed by Michelle Lamoreaux and Robert Lamoreaux, who have worked on all kinds of shows over the years, most notably Totally Spies, Martin Mystery, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Shimmer And Shine, and much more. Among the executives at those studios, they act as executive producers alongside Laura Sreenby (known for working on projects like Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie, The Lion Guard, Muppet Babies 2018, She Ra And The Princesses Of Power, and Wolfboy And The Everything Factory). The show centers on a stubborn and hot headed, but well meaning teenage girl named Sophia Mendoza (voiced by Sara Garcia) being given a special invitation to a prestigious boarding school on Unicorn Island called Unicorn Academy. It’s there where she befriends sweet and compassionate animal lover Ava Banji (voiced by Sadie Laflamme-Snow), athletic tomboy Isabel Armstrong (voiced by Gabriella Kosmodis), narcissistic frenemy Valentina “Val” Furi (voiced by Kari Wong), lovable bookworm Layla Fletcher (voiced by Kamaia Fairburn), and lovable goofball Rory Carmichael (voiced by Kolton Stewart). Together with their bonded unicorns as part of Sapphire Dorm, they have to protect Unicorn Island from any magical threats that come their way as Sophia tries to discover the whereabouts of her missing father Miles Mendoza (voiced by Carlos Diaz)."

The Unicorn Academy YouTube channel put out a music video called "Perfect Summer". Even though it's not part of the Legendary Summer special, it's still thematically fitting due to the focus on Layla and Glacier.

"The holidays may be 6 months away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t report on the winter fun. That’s the case with Unicorn Academy, which will release a 45 minute Winter Solstice special on November 13, 2025 on Netflix. Here’s everything that you need to know.

Let’s start with a recap. Unicorn Academy is a Netflix series based on the book series of the same name by Julie Sykes and Linda Chapman that first came out on November 2, 2023. The show, developed by Totally Spies and Shimmer And Shine writers Michelle Lamoreaux and Robert Lamoreaux, centers on a teenage girl named Sophia Mendoza, who’s given a prestigious invitation to Unicorn Academy, a prestigious, magical boarding school on Unicorn Island. With her new friends, she has to unlock the mystery behind her father’s disappearance while also protecting Unicorn Island.

Now as for the special, we have this description to go off of: “It’s time to celebrate the Winter Solstice at Unicorn Academy, and Ava just can’t wait to show Sophia and Sapphire Dorm the perfect day! She wants to make sure everything is as it should be, and at the top of her list…PRESENTS! But when the Solstice celebrations are derailed by a troublesome thief, Ava’s fixation leads her to lose sight of what truly matters. While the unicorn riders pull together, will Ava be able to save the Solstice and make things right with her friends, too?”"
