Why is Superman so weak?

Actually, I did watch the series finale of Smallville just to see how'd they finally introduce Superman after 10 years

By not showing him in costume . Man did I hate that episode/ show

BTW, I just realized maybe Dusty, when referencing "All-Star Superman," was referring to the scene in which Superman visited Lex in prison as Lex awaited execution. That wasn't a scene in which Supes came to fluff Lex's pillow and reminisce about the good old days; he came there to challenge Luthor to make his last days on Earth productive. There was another comic (I wish I remember) that had a similar scene in which Lex was terminal and Superman similarly challenged Lex. That's what we should've seen!

The finale of Smallville was a bit of a let down but generally it wasn't terrible because we essentially knew we wouldn't see Tom Welling in costume, (he pretty much said so in interviews.) Anyways the main Smallville episode I think of that shows who Superman really is is the episode "Kent" where he gives Ultra-man a second chance even though the guy was/is a murderer. As for the comics I never said read the Golden Age comics. I know he wasn't perfect in those I said the early 2000 comics... the example that came to mind was "All Star Superman" Also the scene with Luthor is not just a challenge but also giving Lex a second chance like: "Hey Lex I am pretty much going to be gone, so all that stuff you said you would do if I wasn't around... yeah you should do it." Yeah it is a challenge, but at the same time kind of a motivational (lack of better word) push he is giving Lex.

I'd like to see a 2000's story you mention in which Superman totally ignores the atrocities of his enemy and apologizes to a villain who comes across some bad luck. I think it would be a travesty of justice. We as viewers know, and Superman knows, what kind of total scumbag Luthor is, and just because he'd get a terminal condition like cancer doesn't mean all of the sudden Supes would be all "there there" to the guy.

Not trying to say I am awesome by any means... but I myself have people who are quite rude/not good people and in fact might not deserve empathy or whatnot. BUT, I still do feel compassion for them and will offer to help them, that's what my parents taught me and that's what I firmly believe... and I find that not at all a "travesty of justice." But you may feel different, and that's fine.

Now thinking about it... your right I can't think of a comic right now, but Smallville for sure had that type of thing where he took responsibility for the "meteor freaks" even when they did a bunch of junk... he still felt responsible. I think that is what I should have said, as the comics are something that are more difficult for me to reference or remember but Smallville is the show where I learned a lot about a lot of good stuff. Either way though I will end my part of this discussion... I agree to disagree. I feel I have said all I need and actually I am kind of tired of defending a fictional character, especially when the argument is rather pointless for me. I like how he acted... (you don't)... you find it out of character (I don't.) So I find no point for this to go on. You can say if you wish that you won this debate or that I have no proof so that is why I am giving up on the discussion, (take your pick ) I am not trying to be rude or anything, again I am just tired of defending a fictional character... in all reality I shouldn't even have to, he stands for hope, kindness, honesty, and compassion... even for those who may not deserve it. He is a Good person (fictional or not so why would I need to defend his kind actions.) I love Superman and always will, and will always like what they achieved in Season One with him. But if you don't then that is fine. I really think I am just out of steam on this subject, so discussing it further is useless (to me... well for me to discuss it.) Everyone else can for sure discuss it, and I won't think anything negative or be jerk about it. I hope this post does not come across as me thinking I am too good to discuss this with you, that is not my intention. I am just tired of the subject I suppose and the endless debate. (Again though, nothing against you... or Ganon. )
