Would a classic Toonami Block work on Boomerang?

I've recently began thinking about ways that Boomerang and Toonami could be improved and I wondered about a classic Toonami block on Boomerang. That would at the very least be interesting. Think about it: classic action cartoons on a four hour boomerang block. I don't know about you, but it makes sense and it seems to be a step in the right direction for both properties.

It sure would be nice to have one (though I don't get Boomerang) seeing as they have the entire first line-up of Toonami and they're all old enough to air on Boomerang without any qualms.

that could work. but isnt there boomeraction for that? how about just put some classic toonami shows on boomeraction.

Boomeraction is long gone.

Not exactly, some of the action shows on Boomerang (Jonny Quest, SWAT Kats, among others) still air with their individual Boomeraction bumpers (most likely due to laziness on Boomerang's part). But the block as an entity is long gone.................just like weekday action afternoons on CN soon will be. :( A 15-year tradition..................

Yeah, I don't get CN. They scrap afternoon weekday action blocks, which they've had since they first started in 1992 for "LOL VOTING AND SHOWS YOU'VE ALREADY SEEN MILLIONS OF TIMES!!!!!!"

Anyways, yeah, Moltar hosting a Toonami block on Boomerang would be great.

This is why I rarely watch Cartoon Network anymore. Stupid decisions like giving up action cartoons in the afternoon and showing the same damn episodes of Cartoon Cartoons they've shown a million times. Pathetic.

Yeah, I've thought about my original post and I've garnered some new ideas about a possible Boomerang-toonami. First of all, since we are far away from the 90's its OK to put shows from the previous decade on Toonami. Second of all, I would love if it would be 3 to 4 hours long. That way they can have enough time to show more shows and build an audience. Here are some ideas for shows:

Thundercats
Batman
Batman Beyond
Superman
Mobile Suit Gundam and its spinoffs
Escaflowne (if they can acquire the rights to it without hacking it)
Star Blazers
Voltron
Robotech/ Macross
Tenchi
Outlaw Star
Nadia (if they can get the rights to the show)
The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest
Dragonball and its spinoffs

Add on to this if you please. There are more shows that could be on Toonami on Boomerang. In fact I don't know why they won't do it anyways. They network has made no progress in the past four years and it would probably help business if they just took a chance with Toonami.

A "Toonami" block on Boomerang would work. Considering that the block is ten years old and has established itself as a marketable brand in its decade of action, it would be a welcome breath of fresh air on Boomerang, which has maintained the same appearance it had since day one, and strangely more modern shows.

Of course, one would have to wonder what they could put on the Boomerang "Toonami" block. It'd be easy to bring back Moltar to host the new block considering they still have the master tapes and many of the people behind Toonami are still employed by The Network. Also, quite a number of Toonami shows are either in the Boomerang/CN library or currently airing on the lineup including the following Toonami vets:

Thundercats
Voltron (that's why they were able to show Voltron clips in the montages during the 10th anniversary)
The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest
Batman
Superman
Batman Beyond
Samurai Jack
Justice League
Megas XLR
Masters of the Universe
G-Force

However, it'd be foolish to say that Boomerang's Toonami block would air the Japanese shows many people believe Toonami is all about. Perhaps they could get the original incarnations of Dragon Ball Z (namely the first two syndicated seasons) and maybe Robotech, but there's no way they'd get Gundam, Outlaw Star, or any other marquee Toonami brand of the past, and that's what Boomerang is (supposed to be) all about.

Should they create a Toonami-branded retro action block on Boomerang? Of course. Will they? I doubt it, but stranger things have happened.

That would be nice.

Did Cartoon Network lose the rights to all of the those early Toonami shows? Man, that sucks, but like you said the chances of a Toonami block on Boomerang are slim (though its perfectly logical to have one on Boomerang). I wonder how Boomerang would look if members of Toonzone were running the programming side of the business.

Far be it from me to correct someone with greater Toonami knowledge than I but I do believe The Anime Network took G-Force a few years back so now Turner networks can't air it. Robotech is in a similar situation. On the other hand they can air GI-Joe (correct?) and even though it isn't old IGPX needs a good home (but it should be on Jetstream first).

They still have Saban DBZ as it's scheduled for April 7th at 7PM. They couldn't air the uncut one on Boomerang I imagine. I think they intentionally avoid PG content. But they could run the Saban episodes through the end of FUNimation's original dub if they hurry up and do it.

And of course they could make The Roulete. Heck if they have tapes of Roulete "episodes" then that might work even better.

Sure would be nice if they would air at a minimum Mobile Suit Gundam (as it's truely old skool) and Reboot. But with just the intial line-up plus DBZ. Jack, DCAU, Megas, etc and dare I say... the Power Puff Girls. They could make a really great block on Boomerang.

Thought TAN took Battle of the Planets, not G-Force. There's still a Turner credit on G-Force, even after all of these years, but Sandy Frank Productions owns the property in all incarnations (Gatchaman, BOTP, G-Force, and I believe Eagle Riders, though Ace could correct me on that one) in this territory. After seeing TMNT over the weekend, my hopes for the Gatchaman movie next year has increased dramatically.

MSG would probably be on before ReBoot in this country, since ReBoot is all but dead. And with Tony Jay's recent passing, I couldn't see anybody else taking over as the voice of Megabyte anyway.

The Powerpuff Girls! I keep on forgetting about The Powerpuff Girls. Why is The Network making me forget about The Powerpuff Girls? I loved that show.

Because they want you to. Well a DVD season set is finally coming out...

The first time they played a Gatchaman series on on TAN it was G-Force when Boomerang was playing Battle of the Planets. There was even a "best of G-Force" DVD put out by Rhino which had a "as seen on The Anime Network" sticker on it. According to Wikipedia it was on TAN in 2004 but they dont' list it on their site anymore so Turner may have it back now.

Imagi's Gatachman could be really good. Though I hope they improve the human models over TMNT's. Glad you saw TMNT. For their first movie Imagi did a great job animating it.

I don't mean make new Reboot I mean air the already completed series. And maybe Tony Jay rest in peace.

Ya, they all have all of the original components, only problem is that they won't have most of the anime(in paticular Sailor moon and DBZ). Since ultimatly all they have are the orignal 4, DCAU, H-B, and Toonami Originals, which is alot since i forgot bout DCAU, but you know, that lineup can get old fast

Sailor Moon can't be helped thanks to Toei but they do have DBZ.

Isn't Funimation Channel announced airin DBZ soon? If som, then CN almost certainly doesn't have the rights(unless the SAban dub doesn't count, and i don't know much about DBZ)

Imagi's a great company. They just haven't really made an impact in the States until now. They're a really adaptive company who can do Pixar and Dreamworks house styles as well as Japanese anime style.

Imagi were the ones who animated Zentrix, a fine show that Bandai picked up and kind of tossed aside, and Father of the Pride, which was an alright show, but considering the timing (making a show about the animals of the Siegfred and Roy show a little under a year after Roy got mauled by a tiger), it was ill-conceived and cancelled. They had other projects in the works, including an animated Highlander OVA movie (co-produced by Mad House) and another sci-fi series.

Of course, nowadays, Imagi's doing films only for now, including Gatchaman, which has TMNT's director attached to it, and Astro Boy, who has the other co-director of Toy Story 2 attached to it.

ure would be nice of someone to pick up a 3D series based on the movie. And it'd be nice if Imagi made one too.

Boomeraction is long gone.
Boomeraction is still there in name. It just airs Justice League, SWAT Cats, Superman: TAS, and Batman: TAS now.

As for the question at hand, they could replace Boomeraction with a new schedule and have Toonami packaging or just keep the current line-up and have Toonami packaging.

No, CN still has the rights to DBZ. I think that's one of the shows they'll never give up the rights to.

I'd definitely get Boomerang if they decided to have their own Toonami block.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
