Your personal cartoon “Mandela Effects”

Here's something strange (for me, at least):

I remember the credits sequence for The Simpsons airing on television sometimes as a kid. Somehow, it was just the credits I remember- rarely anything from the episode itself (it's not like we really had it on, AFAIK; I'd say either it was left on or Mom and Dad were preparing to watch whatever came on afterward by tuning in a little early).

Here's the strange part: when the 20th Century Fox Television logo appeared, I recall hearing what sounded like someone (a baby, perhaps?) crying loudly when it plays. Yet from what I know about the show via reading/watching, that never came up. I don't know if there have been any such instances happening in the show- including episodes where there was voiceover during the credits and even the Gracie Films logo (and yes, there's "The Mansion Family", where Homer wails about those in the credits being rich). And this is what I remember to be a regular (or at least semi-regular) thing, so...that's why this is here.

I have a mental image of Agnes appearing onscreen during the Steamed Hams segment, but having just watched it she does not. Her voice is heard, but that's it.

Thanks to Toon In With Me today, I got this:

Rebel Rabbit was one of a number of cartoons I saw back in the 90s or early 2000s and have only recently re-watched. I specifically remember the now-memetic scene where Bugs saws off Florida. What I recalled him saying as the state sailed off was "Goodbye, Florida, goodbye!" Now that I've rediscovered the cartoon, the line turned out to be "South America, take it away!" I also see that Florida slowed down after a while, instead of moving at a constant speed.

I once thought that Toy Story 3 was shown during the Magical World Of Disney Junior back in 2012 due to how a lot of movies from the Disney Animated Canon, Pixar, and Disney Toon Studios were often shown in that block. In actuality, it wasn't shown on there until 2019. As it turns out, I was actually remembering Toy Story 3 airing before Sofia The First: Once Upon A Princess when it premiered on November 18, 2012. It's not uncommon for movies to be shown before these Disney Junior Family Night special events.

Here are my personal cartoon "Mandela effects":
  • I remember that in a episode of "Pinky, Elmyra and Brain" or "Tiny Toon Adventure" there was a moment where Elmyra is running to a window in her room. Then it cuts to a shot from the window in which there are a couple of dozens of molehills from which pop out various cartoon characters, not only the ones owned (at the time) by WB, but also from third-party series, such as "Teletubbies". Later it cuts to Elmyra who takes a few steps away from the window and started crying.
  • Before I checked out some TV rips, I wrongly remembered that TVP1 (one of Polish Public Television's channels) aired "Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks" in letterbox (the show was produced in widerscreen).

For some weird reason I thought in Pokémon, Ash met Tracey before Brock went to live with Professor Ivy. Like there was four or five episodes with the two of them. I suppose I was just thinking of Todd/Snap/whatever you want to call him. I also thought Tracey was in the Johto episodes, but at the same time I kind of knew that Brock was there too. It’s hard to explain.

Okay, I recently got a doozy:

Sometime in maybe the late 90s, I remember watching Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog at a relative's house via one of my cousins. It must have been a VHS tape of "Sonic's Song"/"Best Hedgehog"...which I ended up getting from that same family in early 2004 (I think I just asked about it then).

Somehow, the only thing I specifically remembered was a character (presumably the main villain, Dr. Robotnik) yelling "MUSIC! I hate MUSIC!" maybe twice in what was surely "Sonic's Song". Not the (specific) plot of the episode, not the song from Catty Carlisle (or that name itself)...not even who else could have said that line.

I didn't get myself to watching it until last month (20 years later!), and I finally discovered that while the line (or something similar) did come up once, it was actually spoken by the robot of the episode, the Music Destroyer. The closest Robotnik came to saying it was his "I hate that hedgehog!" catchphrase.

I remember seeing a trailer for Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (it could have been a first one). In that trailer Mac was in classroom with other students (it also looked in CGI while the characters were in 2D flash) and he looked bored. Then suddenly objects started to shake and they started to fly around the classroom and they started to turn into imaginary friends (Eduardo, Coco, Wilt and Bloo himself). I tried to find it on Youtube, but I couldn't find it. I thought it was real... or maybe it is but it is part of the lost media?

I have the promo on my YouTube channel :) The promo even won a Silver Promax UK award.

I remember seeing the Looney Tunes short Little Orphan Airedale a couple of years ago on TV. I specifically remembered the ending being one where the dog, Charlie Dog has been telling the story to for the entire short making a sort of aside whispering remark to the audience after Charlie chases his supposed master, Porky. The dog says “Is that what you gotta do to get a master?” before banging on the City Dog Pound door and saying “LET ME IN!” while fast paced music akin to the ending of Hare Ribbin but faster plays.

A while later, I saw the cartoon again and most of my memories of it were correct aside from a couple of things: The dog actually says the line more directly to the audience in a normal voice instead of the more whispery aside mark I remembered, he actually says “And that’s what you gotta go through to get a master?” and the music during the ending where the dog pounds on the door is more slower paced than I remembered.

When I was younger (presumably because of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) I had thought that Clarabelle Cow was a much more well known character than she actually was.

I decided to expand upon my memory of an Ed Edd n Eddy promo that I mentioned in the first post. In my mind, Ed was hanging from a tree covered in post it notes to look like a piñata and Eddy was trying to get the neighborhood kids to whack Ed. What I “knew” about it was that aired at the tail end of the Powerhouse era and I saw it at least twice but I seriously want to say the first time I saw it I thought it was going to be aPSA for eating healthy (because I think Eddy stuffed Ed’s mouth with candy or something).

Anyways, I think what I might have been thinking of was a combination of any of the various sticky notes episodes, Ed hanging from a ribbon when he hosted CCF, and this:

It came from the right era and a brief line about making smoothies out of rotten fruit may have sparked the idea of how not to eat. I guess it also explains why I don’t really remember Double D being in it. It’s a bit of a stretch but it’s all I got.

During the early 90s, one of the cartoons I watched all of the time where I lived was The Adventures of Raggedy Ann and Andy. I watched it every week and I thought it was a much longer running cartoon than it was. This seemed to be the case with a lot of cartoons of my youth. I always wondered why it seemed pretty much forgotten. I looked it up last year expecting 65 episodes and learned there were only 13.

When I was kindergarten age, I had these Baby Disney character books and Horace and Clarabelle were included. I, too, thought they were around more.

I guess this one doesn’t affect me personally, but it seems like a ton of people don’t remember the Billy and Mandy/Kids Next Door crossover. It seems like if it does come up on social media or You Tube, there’s always several people commenting like “when did this happen?”. I know there has been several times in my life where Kids Next Door and/or Billy & Mandy is brought up with my brother, which prompts him to look up an episode guide and he exclaims “they had a crossover?!”. I’m pretty sure my brother watched it with me when it aired but I guess I can’t swear by it. He enjoyed Billy & Mandy quite a bit.

Anyways, I have no idea why hardly anyone seems to remember it, even if they are fans of the shows in question, or watched a lot of CN in that time frame. The special was hyped up with a marathon so it wasn’t like it was dumped at 7 am on a Sunday or anything. Before Crossover Nexus it was the most ambitious crossover CN had. There was a cameo from Eddy, as well as references to Powerpuff Girls, Camp Lazlo, Foster’s, and My Gym Partner is a Monkey. My only guess is that it came out late in KND’s run, and Billy & Mandy had just finished, so maybe most casual fans moved on.

I don't remember the premiere of The Grim Adventures of the KND at all. I don't think our Cartoon Network promoted it that much. It also wasn't part of the Billy & Mandy reruns that regularly aired, so I have always assumed that it's a C:KND episode. It did sometimes get a rerun as part of "Cartoon Network Cinema". I remember being very surprised seeing it for the first time somewhere in 2011 or 2012.

Similarly, I feel like the Lilo & Stitch cross-overs didn't air often, as if our local channel avoided those episodes.

The Jimmy Neutron / Fairly OddParents crossovers did air regularly and were talked about often.

I think it’s officially considered a KND special, but I still don’t think it was ever reran as a normal episode of KND.

I thought CN had Nothing good on air, let alone still premiering episodes but they do both.

I watched Home on Netflix and I seriously do not remember the Christmas lights and Christmas music during the scene where Tip first meets Oh. I mean, I haven’t seen Home a million times or anything, but I have seen it a few times. I had to check the digital copy I had. It’s strange that I never noticed that detail.

It's official: I have now preordered GTA VI for PlayStation 5; the more expensive and feature-complete Ultimate Edition of the game, that is. I also intend to buy a PS5 Slim optical drive next month(?) in the hopes of maybe indirectly convincing SIE to reverse its controversial plans to go all-digital on all post–Jan 2028 PS console games, even though GTA VI is a digital-only game.
Happy anniversary to "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout".
Here's the Totally Spies' 25th anniversary music video:
