"Am I the only one who thinks..."

Am I the only one who thinks zombies are so...so.... SO stupid. If I hear another apocalypse joke involving zombies I think I may cry. But seriously they have to be the most over-used, clicked plot-device to have been trendy among teenage demographics. They make me sick.

I'm not a big fan and I've been a monster fan since way back. However, I do kind of like the really old-school Vodou derived zombies that are controlled by an evil Bokor (Vodou sorcerer). I just think there's more of a sense of mystery to them and you can work other dark magics into the story.

As for the George Romero style ravenous, science-created zombie/ghoul hybrid, they just seem to be so limited storywise. No personality, no character, just a ravenous consuming horde. They're also the only monster I know of that only works when there's a whole lot of them. Vampires, werewolves and demons are all scary no matter how many you have. Yet, a single zombie is little more than a target. I think what makes them stick is the metaphors attached to them. Zombies kind of have a "fear of disease/biological warfare" angle. Essentially, they're a pandemic made flesh. Also, there's the socio-political pro-individual metaphor. Everyone else is a mindless conforming consumer following the crowd, people must fight to maintain their individuality.

All that said, I still dare someone to write a scary story that only has one of those types of zombies.

I'm watching it and think it's okay. Not the greatest show in the world, but still good. I heard someone once refer to it as "Glee for grown-ups", so maybe that's the appeal (I never got around to watching Glee, so I can't say). I know I watch it mainly for the song numbers.

Lovecraft certainly made single, non-voodoo zombies scary with "Cool Air" and "In the Vault," although they weren't exactly Romero zombies.

Never read those. The only Lovecraft stories I've read are "At the Mountains of Madness", "The Shunned House", "The Dreams in the Witch-House" and "The Statement of Randolph Carter". I'll have to look for those stories if I ever revisit his work.

Changing the clocks and losing an hour of sleep aside, am I the only one who actually likes that we get longer periods of sunlight up until November or so? That's one good thing about it, right? All I ever see is complaints, but there is a bright side to it. (No pun intended.)

I couldn't drive to school in the morning during the winter because it would be dark outside until like 9:00.

I'm I the only one who thinks prom isn't as all it's cracked up to be? A lot of people seemed shocked when I tell them I don't want to go, and that I'm missing out on some big life changing event.

Do you mind if I ask why you don't want to go to your prom? I didn't go to mine either, and I'm not really sure why. One person told me that if I don't go, then I'll regret it for the rest of my life. Now that was fifteen years ago. I still don't regret it. I can look at it this way though. With all the money my mother was going to be spending on my college tuition, the fact that I didn't go to the prom was most likely one weight off her shoulders in the way of her finances. People at school were shocked that I didn't want to go to the prom, but I'm sure the got along just fine without me there.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand all the hate towards the Green Lantern movie? I don't get what's supposedly so bad about it. I thought it was great. I thought it captured the character of Hal Jordan well and he never got lost in the story amidst all the other characters, many of whom had smaller roles that I thought they would. Even my parents and brother, who knew nothing about the character or the mythos aside from the name, enjoyed it. But all I see is hatred on the Internet, and I just don't get it. I thought it was easily one of the better superhero movies in recent years.

If you're not a person who's into dancing or socializing with big crowds, then I can see why prom might not appeal. On the other hand, it can be your last opportunity to hang out with friends before you or they go off to college and possibly never see each other again, or at least for a long time.

I skipped my prom because some of my friends weren't going, so we decided to just hang out together on our own. But I came to regret it several years ago because I had found out that one of my friends, a girl I really liked and had gone out with briefly, had been hoping I would ask her to go and was then looking for me at the prom. Man, that just about killed me when she told me that. I was bummed out for about a week.

You just have different taste than most people. Nothing wrong with that.

About your story pertaining to the prom, sorry to hear that. I think I've experienced similar things.

Am I the only one who thinks making posts like these is more important than homework on many occasions?

CG is good, but regardless of how you use it, Flash just isn't a good medium for full on animation in movies or television, it wasn't designed for that. Even drawing frame by frame, there are much much better programs to use than flash. Bones style animation has never appealed to me regardless of what program is used.

And yes, toonzone is much more important than homework. (Smiles and winks to mods and ad companies)
