What Time Is It?
What does Toonami have to offer CN today?
If it were to come back it would just play repeats of samurai jack
What does Toonami have to offer CN today?
The true value of Toonami wasn't it's programming, it was it's brand.Alright I think it's time for all the would be dreamers and those who oppose their opinions to lay all the cards out on the table.
I want a serious debate and leave your bias at the door whether you're for or against. Give solid reasons as to why CN should or shouldn't bring back Toonami for a future generation. And before anyone says "the ratings were bad" that may have been the case from time to time but the ratings of Toonami generally were quite good so there's reason to believe it could do well again.

If it has nothing to offer then it's time to put the old girl down.
Respectfully, I have to disagree. It's the programming that makes a program block, not it's wraparounds. Wraparounds are just the wrapping paper, it's the gift itself that's important. It doesn't matter how attractive the wraparounds are if the shows are mediocre.Gonzales said:The true value of Toonami wasn't it's programming, it was it's brand.

What's stopping Cartoon Network from doing something like that without the Toonami name? Absolutely nothing. And that's the problem.
Toonami doesn't have to come back. The spirit and environment that allowed Toonami to exist does.
Everybody please read this.
Everybody please read this.
The Toonami name is just that--a name. The Toonami name, brand and wraparounds are not what made the block so great; it was the spirit, commitment to quality and awesome shows that did.
Cartoon Network could easily give us an eclectic, high-quality, kick-butt action cartoon block once again without having to call it Toonami or bring back TOM or any of the Absolution bumps. They'd just have to care about the block, its' audience and the shows they acquired for it.
To add to what Beefy said, You Are Here could be that block, but making it such is clearly not tops on Toon's priority list. If Toon poured half as much money and attention to their action roster as they devote to the likes of CNReal, that Scooby-Doo live-action prequel and Ben 10: Alien Swarm, then we could likely be looking at the network's action cartoon block renaissance.
That's what I was trying to say: You Are Here could be a worthy successor, or they could make a brand new action block, it doesn't have to be Toonami.^ Here's my problem with that:

Exactly. You Are Here is a great block so what you're saying is that You Are Here can be just like Toonami? It can be.Everybody please read this.

But that's not a GOOD reason to bring it back. Perhaps they can come up with an ever better name some day.I disagree with the claim that Toonami was just a series of wraparounds. The Total Immersion Events and the consistent characters and music led to Toonami being like a show unto itself.
I felt the same way about Cartoon Network's promos and wraparounds in general back then: they were 'fun' and clever. They certainly beat the heck out of Kids WB's promo work, which remained horrendously cheap and poorly done right up until the end.
