I hear that this week, Geocites will be closing down and all the sites made on the provider would be deleted or something. It'd be a shame to lose a good site like this forever ya know.

Yes, Geocities is closing down as of tomorrow.
There may be some foreign operators that licensed the name early on that will keep running, but naturally they have not duplicated the main Geocities content.

Why do grown-ups have to ruin everything?

Idea:

What if Toonami came to Boomerang in place of Boomeraction? The block would be a mix of classic American action cartoons (Herculoids, Batman, Superfriends, Transformers, etc) and pre-1990 anime (Urusei Yatsura, Galaxy Express 999, Mobile Suit Gundam, Fist of the North Star, etc) with Moltar as host. I think it would be in keeping with the Boomerang theme, there'd would be TONS of options for quality programming, and the correct age group would be targeted.

Seeing an update that said "new episodes of Sailor Moon June 12" filled me with overwhelming nostalgia. I remember the day they premiered. It was the day 9th grade ended for me. That site is a piece of living history.

What if Toonami came to Boomerang in place of Boomeraction? It's a good idea, but such a thing would be wasted on a channel that only a handful of people get. Also, Turner in all likelihood woudn't premiere any show, even a pre-90's anime, on Boomerang; those shows would be more likely to be run on CN first, for the same reason aforementioned.

As I have always been wondering if Eureka seveN might have ended up on Toonami I asked Tony Oliver (the director of the dub) if they were ever considering that. He told me it got a bit too "heady" for that younger demographic and they never intended to aim the dub at kids despite Bandai having toys and video games. So there you have it... they never considered E7 for Toonami rather than Adult Swim.

I can't imagine even being able to cut E7 down to Toonami levels. They would have had to skip entire episodes and cut others to pieces.

I think with a Naruto-level edit it would have been possible to cut E7 down but it wouldn't have been pretty, the difference between a Toonami E7 and uncut E7 would be the same sort of difference between Toonami Rurouni Kenshin and uncut Rurouni Kenshin.

As it is Oliver's comments make it seem that licensing all of that was pretty pointless considering Bandai licensed so much, even the soundtracks, clothing, and toys. I think that Bandai planned on marketing it to kids and realized they were creating a potential hornet's nest as E7 became more violent and out there during the second half of the series. But when the realization hit they had all of the licensing rights and all they could do was release the stuff and hope it didn't completely blow up in their faces, especially in the wake of E7 bombing on Adult Swim.

Unfortunately it did blow up in their faces and I think E7's spectacular flameout is part of the reason why Bandai Entertainment is in trouble today. It's a shame considering I think E7 is one of the greatest mecha series of all time. At least Code Geass is managing to garner great DVD sales to make up for it bombing on AS too (then again AS practically ignored the show so that didn't help).

I started watching Toonami in late 1999/early 2000. I was hooked on DBZ once I started watching it. I also enjoyed Tenchi and Sailor Moon when it was on there. All the Gundam's were good too, I really got into G Gundam when it was on. Up until it moved to Saturdays, I watched Toonami every day. I also liked watching the New Year's Evil's they had back in 2000 and 2001 with the all the DBZ episodes.

I liked TOM up until he became bigger and bulky. I didn't care much for TOM 3 but he wasn't near as bad as TOM 4 was with that ridiculous face. I could never take TOM serious anymore once he got that face....hahaha

Once it moved to Satruday's I didn't watch it as much. I guess I could never get into watching Toonami only on Saturday. I kept watching Toonami when it moved to Saturdays but after about 2-3 months of being on Saturdays I just started watching it less and less. I still watched it from time to time from 2005-2007 but I pretty much quit watching it altogether once Naruto dominated on Toonami in the last year or two. I watched most of the last broadcast to just be able to see Toonami for the last time.

It went out with a bang. I still miss it, and I know CN will never be able to replace it with anything as good or unique. At least it was given a final goodbye then without having one at all.

Looks more like a fansite for faithful. Fans who have some small shred of concern for the network that abandoned them(we're called faithful for a reason).

As well a few times I watch the "back to 5 to 7" bump, over and over. Eventually for a bit I convinced myself it really is back, for a minute. Inevitibly something shatters and I get shocked over again. I don't know why I set myself up like that, can't be healthy.

I'm not quite sure when I first started watching Toonami because it started when I was 7 but I remember the first cartoon I loved was Voltron. I was sad when Toonami took it off and then shortly after Cartoon Network started playing The Third Dimension instead.

I remember the lineup back then was

4:00 Sailor Moon
4:30 Thundercats
5:00 Voltron
5:30 Real Adventures of Johnny Quest

and Moltar was the host, not Tom

I'm not sure if thats the first toonami I watched but thats the first lineup I remember specifically because I watched it every day back in 3rd grade.

Regardless after Voltron got taken off, DBZ became my favorite cartoon then Ronin Warriors, Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo!, and just about every cartoon thereafter was a favorite of mine.

I really REALLY wish Cartoon Network would bring Toonami back. I'm about to be 20, and a world without Toonami is unfamiliar to me

Cartoon Network NEVER aired The Third Dimension. It was only on in syndication. I don't care what it says on Wikipedia, it wasn't a Cartoon Network original, but rather a two-season syndicated series from 1998 to 2000. There was a second season which used a new model for the title hero, but it wasn't seen by a lot of people. Plus, Netter Digital went bust after the show ended.

Never aired on Toonami. Never aired on Cartoon Network.

Nope, Third Dimension never aired on CN or Toonami at least not in the US. The 3D cartoons that aired on Toonami back then asside from their shorts were Reboot and a brief airing of Beast Wars.

The only 3D programs to air on Toonami were Beast Wars, ReBoot, Bionicle, Hot Wheels AcceleRacers/World Race, and Tony Hawk's Boom Boom Huckjam. Oh, and the Real Adventures of Jonny Quest Questworld segments and the TOM/Absolution Total Immersion Events.

And around the time Voltron was completely pulled from the lineup in 1998, Sailor Moon, ThunderCats (replaced with Superfriends), DBZ, and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest dominated the lineup.

So, yeah. I'm sure.

The irony is delicious yet bitter.

And you gave Naruto a better sendoff than Cartoon Network would have. Though the current execs probably have forgotten all about Naruto by now.
