I disagree. I don't think they're justified. Not to the extent that they'll easily outright condemn the only basic cable TV network that still cares to broadcast anime with/without a merchandise tie-in. And when people say it's not enough whether those openings and closings are available on home video, digital download or somewhere on the internet, where do you draw the line with how entitled people have the right to be?

Honestly, I don't see people condemning Toonami for this decision, or at least not that badly. I'm sure people were upset about not getting any full openings and I do think that's understandable, but I haven't really seen any outbursts that negative. If they don't air the openings for Attack on Titan, assuming that they'll get it, then I could see the reaction being more negative and I could understand that too. Those openings are hugely popular, especially the first one, and even with the themes being available on home video releases and digital download, they would want to see them on the TV airings because of how popular and successful both the show and openings have been. I doubt that it would affect the ratings since Attack on Titan is still a really popular show, but it would be an understandable disappointment about not getting to see the full openings along with the show.

While I can understand why people are bothered by the situation with the opening and ending themes, it hasn't really gotten to the point where it's overwhelmingly negative and preventing me from enjoying the block. It's too bad that we didn't get at least the full opening to Space Dandy for the world premiere, but that isn't so much of a deal breaker for me compared to say the actual content of the shows they air. Granted, at this point, they only shows on the lineup that I genuinely like right now are One Piece and FLCL, although I'll give Space Dandy a few more episodes to see if it does more for me besides having really great animation.

I see the Space Dandy OP issue differently, as I detailed in the other thread. Demarco shouldn't have said we were going to get the full intro if they weren't going to get it, that ends up causing unnecessary negative feelings towards Toonami. Also, he said specifically that we were losing Bleach's intro so that we could get Dandy's...and then we didn't get it but still lose Bleach's. Again, more unnecessary negative flak. Finally, something as bizarre and out-there as Dandy could have really used its hip/catchy intro to make a better first impression to more casual viewers who aren't used to watching such shows (as I think Bebop's intro did back in the day). As it was, I think casual viewers probably got more of a cold first impression, which is a shame for a show that represents such an historic moment in US anime history. But that ship has sailed now. Hopefully it didn't hurt too much.

how would enough requests change a licensing issue? I don't get that one unless it's some weird new thing the Japan side is trying ..... (if 50k people like the product we'll give you the series, if 60k like it we'll give you the ending, and if 100k like it we'll give you the intro!)?????

I was thinking Jack for 2:30am as well. Forget of its age, I'd of just thought they'd have at least one American series earlier than where it'll end up. Hey, it could very well work though!

So Samurai Jack will air at 4am. I can't say this was expected. Maybe they want to kick some life into the latter parts of the block? Having Naruto being the first rerun makes plenty of sense with how well it does. I'm surprised they moved GitS between that and Brotherhood though, since Brotherhood and Naruto have more similarities, but it's likely because GitS just got back, while Brotherhood has never been gone. If they're gonna put Samurai Jack that late, why not air it next to Star Wars though? To not air it too late? Or because 4:30 generally does the worst? I'm not really sure what was behind their decision. Honestly, they might as well have put it and 5:30 and moved InuYasha up, but with how well InuYasha does down there, I can see why they wouldn't change that.

To be fair in GITS' case, most of its episodes haven't aired on Toonami before (it only aired the last few episodes of 2nd GIG and the first ten or so episodes of the first season before being pulled back in 2012 until this current run). Whereas Brotherhood has been running practically nonstop and has gotten 1 1/2 runs on Toonami thus far.

I was expecting them to put Samurai Jack earlier on the block than that. I thought it would take the 2:30AM slot, but putting Naruto there makes sense given the ratings it has gotten and kicking off the rerun portions of the block with it might help the later hours in general. I wasn't planning on watching Samurai Jack anyway, so I'm fine with that.

It could stand to swap with Brotherhood I think, as Brotherhood could be a nice block-ender, and it'll be starting up it's howmanyeth ever rotation very soon.

4AM?!? What a travesty.

I get that the show is old, but instead of directly placing it in FLCL's slot (which I feel would be a better placement), they're bumping up Naruto reruns for this.

If they were going to bump Naruto, then at least put Jack on at 3AM. Placing it after rerun-to-death GitS:SAC and Brotherhood as well is just rubbing salt on the wound.

I thought that I remember reading in one of the Q&A sessions that Brotherhood would be getting another run. I wouldn't mind if they took a break from it to get another new show on the lineup for awhile, but maybe that wouldn't work for right now, especially if they've already used their budget on whatever those two big announcements were. It would be cool to see them air the original FMA, but I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it up in favor of Brotherhood. I just hope that they'll have something interesting planned for whatever show takes Sword Art Online's place since I think that ends somewhere in February too.

Ah, oh well... chances are it'll still do well though. As long as the 2/1/14 schedule change gets around enough, I don't see how it can fail. (passed around or not)

Not likely to see a new Jack promo? Dang. 4am certainly is not ideal but Jack will be okay.

GITS between Naruto and FMAB is perplexing but they likely have some reason for it.

I think they may have decided not to go through with airing FMAB again immediately and thus felt it was best to keep it at 3:30 for the last 2 episodes to avoid confusing the viewers more.

Yeah, they didn't say Brotherhood would get the rerun right away and they do still have Titan and Big O season 2. (Also FLCL but that wont be back yet) This lineup would make sense if Titan aired right before Jack but then... why in tge world wouldn't they air Jack first of the two?

And they don't have the original FMA anynore. They have made it clear that of what's not on the lineup, this is what they have.

I would love to see the original FMA on Toonami, but they did admit a while back that [as] gave up the rights to FMA when FMAB came along. Since I like FMA better, and they did air COS, I still have hope for the (extremely fleeting) possibility that FMA may one day air on Toonami.
