"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Toonami had stated earlier that they're rerunning AoT. How could they make room on the block for other shows?

They also said there won't be much new content for the rest of the year. What were you expecting?

Yeah I guess you are right.DBZ Kai will seem to end new content for this year as now.I wonder what are Toonami's plans for next year aside from The Intruder 2.

HELLSING ANNOUNCEMENT - APOLOGY
So…when we started out we were told we were getting all 10 Hellsing Ultimates. And it turns out we aren’t. Sorry. We encourage you to finish the story where you can find it. We will always try to do our best, but sometimes that isn’t good enough. Enjoy it while it’s on.
Toonami

Wow, InuYasha: The Final Act is finally coming to Toonami! That's some great news and I can't wait to watch the series! Unfortunately I never finished InuYasha, but hopefully I'll be able to jump in and still be able to enjoy the series anyhow.

Very disappointed Hellsing won't be finished however. Looks like all they're running is up to Episode 8, guess Funi doesn't want people to be able to view 9 and 10 for free so soon after the home media release.

One thing I'm wondering though is what will fill the 2:30am slot now that Hellsing has left a vacant hour-long hole in the schedule. Of course we known InuYasha will take 2am, but what will take 2:30am? Maybe FLCL or IGPX will return?

Is FUNi being stingy? Do they think the TV airing would cut into sales of the home video release? Either way dick move by FUNi saying they were getting all 10 when they're not

I've long had the impression communication between Adult Swim and FUNi wasn't very good (at Anime Boston earlier this year the FUNimation panel didn't know what time Black Lagoon was airing at after it already premiered and they also mistook a fan-made Soul Eater bump from 2010-ish for an official Adult Swim one), but this is a stunningly major miscommunication.

I'd bet real money that Hellsing problem isn't with FUNimation but instead with the rights holders in Japan. It seems clear it was believed TV rights were had here, and then suddenly they find out that's not the case? That just screams legalistic & annoying shenanigans. Well, hopefully this will be solved in time and they'll get to do the rest.

As for Inu Yasha, well, good. I'd just about given up on Final Act turning up, but there's the proper ending for the show at last. This ought to lay to rest the idea shorter Viz stuff got behind some kind of barrier that can't / won't be breached.

So Inuyasha Final Act finally comes to Toonami, eh?

Pass

A broadcast rights issue was the first thing I thought of when I read that. Volumes IX & X were a separate license (I think). They may have thought they had the broadcast rights only to be told either they didn't or that they didn't have approval to air them on Toonami.

It's nice that Inuyasha: The Final Act is airing on Toonami. I'm sure that fans of the original series would like to see the proper conclusion to the series, especially after they lost the rights to the original series. While I never watched Hellsing Ultimate, it is too bad that they aren't able to finish airing the series, especially when it has done pretty well with its ratings. I think that a broadcast rights issue sounds more like a possibility than Funimation being stingy about airing the last two episodes not too long after they're on DVD. They've never had a problem with airing Attack on Titan episodes before the DVDs are available, so I don't think that they'd have a problem with the last couple of episodes airing on the block.

I didn't watch much of the original series, but I know the basic premise. I might check it out just for the heck of it, but I'll have to think about that. I wouldn't be surprised if they put a rerun at 2:30AM like IGPX or FLCL, depending on when they're ready to put in a new show for that slot.

Final Act is coming to Toonami? Well, FINALLY! It's about time they finished the darn show on U.S. tv. And with this, this will probably be my favorite lineup of the Toonami revival so far, since I'll like all the shows except Shippuden.

I call making the talkbacks, btw.

I never doubted for a second that The Final Act would eventually air on Toonami. I'm just surprised they're putting it on to replace Hellsing Ultimate. I though for sure it'd replace Attack on Titan.

Either way, at least now we know why that new schedule was taking so damn long.

So this balances out Bleach leaving the block and losing the early timeslot with it. I'm glad that means Viz won't just be down to one timeslot with no option to get in there with something else down the line (Jojo if that ever gets sorted out maybe?)

I am guessing the 2:30 slot will just be a rerun of something else. I can't see them working out something with Aniplex to get Kill La Kill in there (Magi would work though). I'd be happy if it it a new-to-the-block series though.

It should've ran for as many seasons and episodes as its post-predecessor Uncle Grandpa did.
I wish Imgur wasn't allowed on this forum until the time is right for a return since it's been unavailable in the UK since last September, so I don't see why people use links from the site for here when it's no longer available in the UK and I'm really angry that their parent company made this stupid decision.
Happy 45th anniversary, MTV.
MeTV Toons is a great channel when it comes to classic cartoons, but we know it can be way better. The Duck4Real (me!) elaborates on this in his latest YouTube vlog. Watch it!
