Got some news about the month of movies.

So I wonder what repeats and new movies they are going to show.

My best guesses for the repeats are Akira (because the Toonami staff loves it) and Summer Wars (because it did so well last year).

My guess for the new movies is DBZ Battle of Gods and a Bleach movie(probably Fade to Black or Hell Verse).

I would say Eva 3.33 but I'm not sure if Funi is ready to allow Toonami to air that yet.

Those would be my guesses as well. I'd prefer to see them air Trigun Badlands instead of Akira since I enjoyed it much more than I did with Akira, but Akira is considered a classic, so there's a good chance it could be repeated. I wouldn't mind seeing Summer Wars again since it was one of my favorite movies they aired last year.

Honestly, I don't really care about any of last year's movies being repeated. Trigun: Badlands Rumble is on Netflix, Conquerer of Shambala really works best if you've seen the rest of the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime first, my brother got the Akira Blu-ray for Christmas after it aired on Toonami, and unlike seemingly everyone else on this friggin' forum, I couldn't fall in love with Summer Wars at all.

As for new movies, I'm really looking forward to Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, I couldn't care less about any Bleach, Naruto, or Blue Exorcist movies, Hal doesn't look like it'd fit at all, I wouldn't mind seeing a DC animated movie or one of the Madoka Magica movies, and Redline looks like it'd be an interesting fit.

Now that you mentioned DC animated movies, I wonder if Toonami would be interested in airing the Hellboy animated movies. I really enjoyed those. (I know Hellboy isn't DC, but it reminded me of when CN aired TV-14 movies like it.)

If we're talking about DBZ movies, I guarantee it won't be Battle of the Gods this year as Funimation is still trying to milk as much profit out of the film as possible before letting it air on television. I think the odds are good we will be getting something along the lines of uncut Tree of Might or Dead Zone instead.

I'll answer this one in three parts:
1) In terms of a DC animated movie airing on Toonami, it's unlikely since the relationship between Cartoon Network and DC Comics is kind of on shaky ground at the moment.
2) In terms of Madoka Magica, hell to the N-O! Why people keep suggesting it is beyond me at this point.
3) Redline is a Manga property, which is a subsidiary of Starz Networks, so the likelihood of it airing on Toonami is slim at the very least, even though they do air another Manga series in GitS: SAC.

People keep on suggesting Madoka Magica because it would actually make a good fit for Toonami. It'd certainly fit a hell of a lot more than Sailor Moon would, since Madoka Magica is actually aimed at adults.

Now that you mentioned DC animated movies, I wonder if Toonami would be interested in airing the Hellboy animated movies. I really enjoyed those. (I know Hellboy isn't DC, but it reminded me of when CN aired TV-14 movies like it.)

Well, it's not like Jason or the asker ​specified​ what they meant by "reapeats", so the Hellboy movies could technically fall under that criteria.

Madoka Magica does seem like a good fit for Toonami,but Sailor Moon has been one of the most requested shows to be on the block,so I am expecting it to be on Toonami after Final Act ends.

While I don't like the idea of another long-running series on the block, I also wouldn't mind Sailor Moon on the block when it would give the new dub exposure, it would appeal to the nostalgia crowd and the fact that the show hasn't been on the air in years could help it turn in some good ratings. Given the choice though, I think that Madoka Magica would fit with the block's overall tone better. Sailor Moon can be dark, but it's mostly pretty light-hearted from the episodes I've seen thus far and tone wise, that would make the show stick out like a sore thumb. I'm not sure if they'd be able to afford a show like Sailor Moon from Viz Media though.

Starting out at the beginning of the block could make the tone shift less jarring than if it was in the middle of the block. A part of me wouldn't mind that since seeing Sailor Moon on TV would be pretty cool, but it would lock up another slot for years. Crystal would be a better way to get Sailor Moon on the lineup since it wouldn't be as long as the original series, but due to the bi-weekly release schedule it has, a dub probably won't be out until next year at best. It might also depends if Viz wants to finish redubbing the original series before moving onto Crystal.

Again... I think the old show is just simply too old to air on Toonami and this is considering the fact that a 25 year old show (albeit with a 4 year old DNR application and reedit) is airing in two weeks.

Was it DeMarco himself saying that Toonami wont get anything older than Bebop? (somewhere along that line) - I can understand DBZKai being condensed, but as for the original Sailor Moon, I don't see it happening just because of a new dub. I think if Toonami were to air it, it'd be Crystal once all the episodes are available. Now... heh... Viz 'could' condense the original Sailor Moon and uh... call it Sailor Moon Kai... then I'm sure it'd be an acceptable suggestion. Despite the number of years it'd take to air, I'd about prefer Crystal anyway, just because all the animation is fresh to TV.

I don't think Viz actually has the broadcast TV rights to Sailor Moon. If Toonami wants to air it they'll likely have to negotiate with Toei.

If I recall correctly, an interview with Viz stated that they'd be willing to put the show on TV, but were more focused with the Hulu distribution. I could be wrong but I could have sworn I saw that somewhere.

CHARLENE INGRAM: I think Stephanie and Robbie will definitely agree we all want to see our shows get on television. But that is never a decision of the studio, that’s the decision of the networks. It’s something we’d never withhold for broadcast, but there would need to be a right television partner for it. The preference will always be to keep it uncensored. We understand that Japanese and American TV series have different time breaks and different running times, so if it was on TV there might need to be editing for time. But as far as content, we would not want any of the content to be censored. Right now there are currently no plans for it to go on TV, I would love it to. It’s just a little early in the process.

I guess that means they do, then. Just going off the press release from ANN it only said they had streaming, digital and home video rights. I wonder why broadcast rights wasn't mentioned? Unless they just recently got them.

At this rate I kinda feel like we are going to get stuff like Psycho-Pass and Magi next year.
