"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Some shows probably couldn't encore at 8:30 due to content restrictions. Jason even discussed on the Toonami Faithful Podcast not too long ago that there are more restrictions on AS the earlier it is in the night, and the closer it is to CN programming. This is why you never see any of the TV-MA programming in the earlier hours of AS. For example, Kill La Kill would never fly in that timeslot, and they even had concerns that the content wouldn't even pass for late night AS. Attack on Titan also probably wouldn't fly in that timeslot.

I feel like if they showed Naruto, which is probably second to DBZ as far as popularity amongst mainstream demographics, it would've fared better.

The issue is it might have been more costly, depending on what deal VIZ has with AS. It's clear FUNi has been more generous with their deals by comparison.

Lets be honest, Naruto's popularity has eroded considerably in the past five years.

I heard that The Last did pretty well for itself in US cinemas, though. Over half of the NYC showings ended up being sold out, so they ended up scheduling more screenings.

But yeah, it isn't quite the beast it was from 2005-2007, but I blame part of that on Cartoon Network and Disney XD for some dumb decisions.

Figured I'd finally give this a shot. Here are my newbie attempts at some talkback images for SAO 2:

I'd say all three are good talkback images for their respective arcs in SAOII :).

Though I think an image with both Yuuki and Asuna would be more fitting for Mother's Rosario, rather than just Yuuki. Just my two cents .

Well giving that the final episode aired today, what are the chances of them airing Nanatsu no Taizai, it is only 24 episodes, 25 if you count the mid season recap episode.

Doubtful, since it's increasingly likely that Netflix has it.

At any rate InuYasha: The Final Act has 10 episodes left. Any guesses as to what'll replace it?

Sailor Moon Crystal, Moribito, Gargantia, K, Tiger & Bunny? If the next show will be another Viz title, then it could amongst any of those.

If it's a show from Viz, my biggest guess is either Gargantia or Tiger and Bunny. If it's a show from Funimation, my biggest guess is Tokyo Ghoul.

I'm not sure about Sailor Moon Crystal. There's been no word on that series being dubbed anytime soon. With its bi-weekly release schedule, they might want to wait until its closer to the end, assuming that Crystal doesn't get another season to cover the rest of the manga after it finises the Black Moon arc. Plus, I get the feeling that Viz might want to finish re-dubbing the original series before they move onto Crystal since there's probably a bigger demand for that right now. Tiger and Bunny might be a good possibility if they go with another Viz Media show though.

I'm almost willing to guarantee Tokyo Ghoul airing at some point in 2015.

Next to zero. Aniplex didn't license it.

It still has yet to be licensed. We'll have to wait and see.

There is no way in a snowball's chance in hell that Moribito will ever see airtime on Toonami. The show was a bomb among bombs when it aired on Adult Swim years ago, and even without taking that into account, Adult Swim didn't even want the show in the first place (it was picked up, incidentally, for Toonami by a newly appointed head of acquisitions for CN before a tragic situation involving said head of acquisitions passing away a mere few weeks after she was appointed to the position led to the next person shoving Moribito onto Adult Swim). And on top of that, Moribito, from what I remember, was very very boring.

I'd definitely put more faith into Tiger & Bunny or Gargantia. A bit less in K. Crystal is probably still a little ways off as no dub has been confirmed yet, though we still have Anime Boston next weekend for news on that front.

Gargantia's got the single cour rule against it so that ain't happening. Honestly I think they'll pick up Accel World.

The greatest fear that I may have though is that at some point in the next 12 weeks, Aniplex announces they're dubbing Mahouka and its replacing Kill La Kill.

Because as bad as SAO is... you have no idea...

They'll go with Valvrave first. Kids love giant robots, right? They love vampires too. They'll love Valvrave!

Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
