I'm not watching GXP anymore. I wouldn't watch another episode if I was paid and I don't even care what kind of ratings it gets anymore. As long as the shows that I actually like, or at least can tolerate in the case of Eureka Seven, are on earlier on the block and I just go to sleep by the time GXP airs, then I'll be happy. Besides that, just because the DVD sales got better doesn't necessarily mean that the series gets better. Terrible series can have good sales, despite their overall quality.

It was, although I don't know why either. I thought that someone was going to make a new Ratings thread, but that didn't make sense given how that would have happened relatively soon after the thread was closed anyway.

In my opinion, it really does. I'm almost surprised with how terrible those episodes were, despite all of the negative responses here when it was announced for the block. There is just absolutely nothing appealing about the show at all. Zexal at least had a relatively good premiere and interesting concepts. None of the characters are appealing or interesting and the storyline was pretty much nonexistent. Both series do feel like not much has been accomplished in the first five episodes beyond the initial premise though.

In any case, it really looks like they picked it up to have a Tenchi series on the lineup in order to cash in on nostalgia, which is all well and good, but that still doesn't make sense to me when it is basically a Tenchi series in name only and involves primarily new characters. I think that they had high expectations for it as well since they said it wasn't doing as well as they hoped for, which could have contributed to moving it to the 3AM slot. I just hope that whatever show they picked up after Samurai 7 is better than GXP. There are plenty of shows from Funimation that I'd like to see them air and I'm sure that quite a few of them are cheap.

Nothing on Toonami was below 600,000

Bleach and ThunderCats reruns kicked ass, Naruto did it's best so far though lost more from Bleach than I'd have expected, all the other shows did well for their slots, especially FMAB which didn't lose viewers for being behind GXP.

Black Dynamite did a lot better this week but still lost over 600,000 from Cleveland and Boondocks lost over 350,000 from that. Then Bleach didn't lose much from that which is rather surprising to be honest.
American Dad worked well at 9PM that week. (my bad I mixed it up with Venture Bros. due to when VB usually airs)

Naruto at 12:30AM on Saturday beat the 1:30AM Family Guy on Sunday while Samurai 7 . ThunderCats beat that and the 2AM Family Guy which did better than the 1:30AM.

This was a really good week for Toonami, people were looking for action after The Hobbit perhaps because the holidays didn't cost Toonami viewers afterall.

And this is where things get going, Surprised Naruto got under 1 Mil but TCs finally did it, and also obtaining the first 1 am timeslot to get 1 mil. I was hoping it would, but still shocked and glad it did. Naruto, maybe people are waiting for the story to pick up, which should be this upcoming episode.

Now if we can get Samurai 7 and SBT atleast at 900K I'll be content. I saw an ad for Toonami a few times last night inbetween attempts sleeping. Atleast twice during McFarlane shows (I think American Dad) that's also really good.

Tenchi maintaining 700K - I think it might do well at that slot.

Amazing ratings for Thundercats. I didn't expect it to go over a million viewers or beat Naruto. I guess they made the right move putting it at 1AM. The drop from Thundercats to Samurai 7 was kind of big, but Samurai 7 still did good. Though, I think it might have hurt Sym-Bionic Titan's ratings. When Sym-Bionic Titan was after Thundercats, it had way less of a drop and it might have gotten up to 900K if Thundercats was its lead-in. Like I said last week, it was probably too soon to move GXP. It did better than I expected at 3AM. I think this week's ratings also prove that Eureka Seven was hurting Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. If GXP continues to beat out Eureka Seven, then they should swap their slots.

And if the show keeps cracking 1 mil, maybe we can get that second season (I can hope).

I wonder how that million for Thundercats breaks down demographically. I wouldn't be surprised if TV Guide still lists it under children's programming and thus getting it a larger influx of under-18s (who are slightly more likely to be up at 1 than at 1:30 or 2:30).

Those are some really great ratings. I'm really surprised that Thundercats got over a million. It's nice to see that the show still does pretty well, even if I am disappointed in how it turned out overall. There was a significant drop after Thundercats, but Samurai 7 still did quite well. A Bleach rerun also breaking a million is pretty impressive and Naruto is still getting solid ratings. I could see it getting over a million in ratings once the first arc starts as well. Even Eureka Seven and GXP did pretty well for their timeslot. I'm still happy that they moved GXP, especially when having Thundercats on after Naruto makes so much more sense, but I wouldn't be against the idea of giving it the 2:30AM slot. I'd be able to go to sleep even earlier, so that would work for me. I would have to watch the rest of Eureka Seven through Hulu, which unfortunately wouldn't help the block, but I wouldn't want to stay up for it either. Still, these are great ratings and quite possibly one of the best weeks for the block since it came back. That's terrific.

Amazing weekend, and WTG Thunder Cats!! Even GXP for 3am did nicely. The whole block in general did superb, nothing under 600K! That calls for a sexy party...

I sure hope these #s stay maintained, but now given that this weekend is Christmas weekend, should we expect #s to go down? Hard to call on a network like this that's usually the same thing. If a drop, maybe not too much of one.


I don't watch TCs, still haven't given it a chance (no DVR, VCR doesn't work), but I do hope it maintains it's performance where it could be considered a Season 2. If it's #s stay in that vicinity and they do get S2, Toonami would have 3 winners 12-1:30

Son of the Bronx: Adult Swim ratings (December 10-16, 2012). I'm against that as I prefer the show with more potential in the slot leading the rest of the night. I look at Sun's continued weakness & believe there is potential for TOONAMI expansion there. The RC Christmas special didn't even draw 1.2m tv's! Once again [as] lost nearly 1/2 of FG's lead before an hr elapsed. Maybe the execs don't care because weaker premieres = lower production costs, but I don't see it that way for RC. I'm sure Spike, FX, & CC would pay handsomely to getting it. It's not like FOX with the Simpsons where animated programming has failed miserably on all other major networks. FX & CC have carved out their own animated niches already & Spike probably hasn't given up the idea yet. So it makes the most sense to position an RC premiere on a much stronger night.

The upside of GXP showing strength at 3a is that it established a rom-com floor for DeMarco to use with execs in deciding future purchases of the genre. I'm looking mostly at VIZ/Bandai here they've assumed a mainly licensing agent function now. Warner home video handles distribution for VIZ which includes misc sales. Bandai has ceased home video & misc sales so Warner has an opportunity there as well. If [as] were to lean that way, FUNI would likely present a competitive offer for their rom-com's rooted in sci-fi & fantasy as well.

It's a near certainty that the #'s TOONAMI produces on Sat would grow substantially on Sun because of the growth in all viewers watching LN/ON on Sun.

If kids were the reason ThunderCats is doing that well then it would have stayed with Cartoon Network. It was getting well over a million total viewers on Saturday mornings in premieres and most of those viewers were over 18. There's probably more pre-18s watching at now than when it was at 2:30 or 1:30 but I'm sure there was a nice influx in 18+ viewership as well.

When you consider that Boon provided 11% more viewers in that week in June this was the more impressive week. Naruto in particular has always shown major strength in 18+ so TCats is getting a benefit of that. While on the surface it seemed that TCats ep was weak, it did bring to mind Read or Die with the paper genjitsu. There was a possibility of nostalgia there even if it was below the surface & since Twitter does have an impact on this maybe it generated some discussions. I wouldn't be surprised if TCats 2nd half was stronger than it's 1st. Diversity amongst the shows is definitely working for TOONAMI right now. Did GXP play a role as well? Because that show is so unique amongst everything else it's possible it's attracting a unique fan base as well. Pushing it to 3a may have led those fans to watch/dvr more of the block.

I think that GXP would have to continue showing good ratings at 3AM for the executives to consider investing in more romantic comedies for the block. Still, I wouldn't necessarily mind if they do end up getting more romantic comedies in the future since it would provide a bit of diversity and there are romantic comedy anime series that are good. I just hope that if they do venture into more romantic comedies in the future, they're actually funny and entertaining, unlike with GXP.

Maybe they should try Cat Planet Cuties or as I like to call it "the anime Michael Bay would make". It was actually pretty entertaining for a pandering sci-fi harem and also has some good fights.

Wow...never would have expect Thundercats to pull over a million and beat Naruto. Kudos to them. This week is pretty much the anti-thesis of Thanksgiving. Would love to see this continue across the next couple of weeks but I have a hunch it'll go back to the norm soon or by the end of the holidays at least. I'd say average was beaten by 150k-200k easy across all time slots give or take a few k.
