"Young Justice" News & Discussion Thread, Part 24 (Spoilers)

This news is unsurprising but still utterly disappointing. Young Justice is the first show on CN I've committed to watching since Megas XLR and Teen Titans, and nothing they have coming interests me. I just really hope season 2 ends on a good note, and maybe a DTV movie in the future.

And after the kind of day I had, bad news like this just makes me more frustrated.

We can't let them do this. We are committed watchers, supporters, and fans of this show. They can't treat us like this! This show's popularity was crazy! Email Cartoon Network non-stop! We got Teen Titans back in some form, didn't we? The power is in our hands. Without the viewers, they are nothing. We all have to cause a ruckus. Don't let them do this, guys.

And who ever runs their PR department about not commenting on the cancellation and just saying they are excited about Beware the Batman is proably the same "person" who put up that stupid tweet the day the shows were preempted in October say gee dc nation fans have you heard dc nation will return in January, hu hu hu, bunch of....aaahhhh so need to curse right now (but for the record I didn't)

I would just like to remind everybody (including myself) although this is an injustice, we would never have had either show in the first place were it not for CN.

The mailbox for the CN contact page, do you mean? Maybe I'm just being thick, but I'm not sure which mailbox you mean. I sent a message via the CN contact page earlier today, and as far as I know, it was received.

We should definitely fight for the possibility of another season, since the show really deserves one and is virtually guaranteed to finish the second season without everything resolved. (There'll likely be a cliffhanger... question is, will it take the form of a big lingering question like in "Auld Acquaintance" or will it be even more in our face?) E-mail them, sign petitions etc. I mean, why not? 46 episodes is respectable but still too short a run for a show of this quality. I'd barely have been satisfied with 52. Obviously we'll still have those 46 episodes even if the show doesn't get renewed, but we need to let CN know about our disappointment. I'll probably send them a second e-mail soon.

Yeah, I'm glad I ordered 'Destiny Calling', and I intend to get my hands on the season 1 DVDs now.

Kind of ironic that are best way of showing displeasure with CN is to give them money.

If I had children to watch the show with, I'd probably steer them away from CN now. Their obvious attempt to kill the show with the fall hiatus speaks of a general corporate culture that I wouldn't want them to be into. I'd doubt I'd be buying them any toys associated with CN shows either. I'd tell CN this if any of it was true.

On a different note, I was browsing YJ on iTunes and noticed that "The Fix", which was up on Sunday, is gone right now.

Apparently there was an audio glitch, if what I read online was correct. Maybe they're preparing to upload the corrected version.

We'll all have make sure that we buy Young Justice: Legacy to support the show... I don't know if the game will be released in the UK though, so I wonder if a copy from the US would work on my XBOX 360.

Regular mail is the only kind that they really weigh - it meant that you were invested in writing, printing, and stamping, not just shooting off an email in a transitory fit of Internet angst.

EDIT - My iTunes copy of the episode is still there and available. Read into that what one may.

I'd call it a little unlikely that mass merchandise buying is going to do anything. The DVDs are too cheap for dedicated fans to buy and make a difference in WB's wallet, unless each fan buys a hundred-plus dollars worth of each release.

That ship has sailed. The voice talent, the creative staff - they are all onto other things now, things that we don't know about yet. Once a series is cancelled - animation, live, whatever - the odds of a revival are astronomical, even with a huge main chunk of mainstream audiences. I wish it was different - I want my third season as much as the next guy, and a third season of AEMH.

At this point, they probably have too much invested in the game to walk away. There's got to be a PR announcement coming this or next month. If anything, I'd bet they'll stall it to a summer release because of the fact they were still in Alpha late last year.

Saw this news earlier and was rather disappointed, although this was unexpected. The continuing issues between CN, TW and DC are likely to sink any show that isn't Superman or Batman related. Given the legal issues that surrounded the Milestone characters, and their inclusion in the YJ series, I'm sure there were concerns about any added licensing costs their use would now incur. Overall though, it's a shame to see how many of these shows have been forgotten by DC and Warner Brothers. As of right now, Static Shock, Zeta Project and Legion of SuperHeroes have never seen their seasons completed on DVD. For Static Shock, this includes all of the Batman, Superman, Batman Beyond and JL starring episodes. Hopefully, both YJ and GL will see their second seasons released in their entirety before WB decides to move on and forget these entertaining series.

TW could really learn from Disney in how to appropriately cross-market and promote their brands. The in-fighting between CN and DC, and WB's unwillingness to license to non-TW owned companies, is going to hurt them in the long run and limit their potential to attract new consumers to their networks, publishing companies and licensing partners.

The big problem with animated comics properties is that they apparently don't know how to promote and make money off the same adults who spend $10 to see blockbuster comics portrayed on the big screen.

It's pathetic that quality animation that a dedicated fanbase of teens and adults watch are subject to toy sales to keep their show on the air. And DVD sales? It's a new world. People will keep recordings on their DVR, buy off iTunes, illegally download, or whatever to keep a copy of their show. DVD sales are a poor way to gauge a fanbase.

CN had no plan to make this show successful. This block was great on Friday nights and should have even been later. Moving these shows to a kiddie time like 10 am didn't help the block at all. Hard to see sustained quality comic book animation lasting without a strong commitment and push like Disney is giving the Marvel properties.

Would they be willing to promote and distribute a game based on a cancelled property? There is plenty of money left to spend. I doubt they think they'll recoup their make a good profit by spending big on the end on a game well after the show is off the air.

Cartoon Network is owned by Turner Broadcasting System, which is owned by Time Warner.
DC is owned by Warner Brothers, which is owned by Time Warner.
It makes no sense whatsoever why there's a blood feud between these companies when they're all owned by Time Warner. They didn't even attempt to try to syndicate the show.

Thundercats had toys that even said "watch on Cartoon Network", sold pretty well around here and they still got cancelled.
Well, that's right nothing was "cancelled" since they were still airing episodes at the time....you just won't see any new ones ever.
