Oops, Billy Batson is A-05. It's 6-9 we don't know. I think my last set of guesses were Garfield Logan, Mary Bromfield, Freddy Freeman and Jim Harper were A-06-09.

I don't get why he's holding out on 27 and 28 or why he even revealed the designations in the first place. I think he recently stated Blue Devil is just an ally of the JL. I hate to think this is something he's given away at one of these YJ meet-ups that no one is talking about online. I haven't followed Weisman until YJ so I'm not all that familiar with that last statement, but I guess he's keen on revealing stuff on Ask Greg many years later as the case with Gargoyles and Spec. Spider-Man?

Exactly!!

Why is Greg Weisman still keeping secrets?? What is the point of no spoilers??? I have bad news Greg, YJ has been cancelled for a while.

Just tell the loyal fans the whole deal unless you are making a YJ movie.

Your YJ video game will not sell well either so NOT spoiling us where Zatanna's Base of Operations is will not make a difference.

Someone actually asked him where Zatanna's base of operations was and he responds NO spoilers.

I love Greg and his work but really???? He still keeps spoilers on a cancelled show?

Because there's always the chance YJ continues as comics one day like the TAS shows have.

Hordesman mention, some want to keep it under wraps if there's a chance for a revival even if it's in a different format, it's like asking Genndy Tartakovsky to spoil the ending of Samurai Jack or reveal everything on Sym-Bionic Titan or older series like The Pirates of Dark Water, you never know when the creators if those show will have a chance for a continuation or revival also just telling everything will loose it's charm, even if it kills us to know it's better they have it in their heads till something happens.

Greg Weisman worked on a show called Gargoyles that ended in 1996. Ten years later, he was finally able to work on a comic book continuing that story.

If Greg were to tell you all of his plans now, and ten years later have the chance to make a YJ comic book, would it be as fun to read? It's a smart move, in my opinion.

The difference is Gargoyles is a one series property.

DC shows are constantly rebooted, nobody is going to think about a show called Young Justice and revive it in comic form over any other type of Justice League show in the future.

We'll never see this incarnation or particular universe again. There's no reason to pretend it can get revived at some point.

Yet, Batman Beyond is coming back as a DC Nation short(s).

I appreciate that he loves his work so much that he doesn't want to spoil it.

and it already came back as a comic. Although Batman Beyond is a special case since it features all new characters you can't get anywhere. Whereas a new Young Justice book continuing on from the show might be seen as redundant in DC's eyes since they already publish Teen Titans.

I didn't know there was currently a Teen Titans comics. In any case, it's too bad they can't port over a YJ comic over to IDW. Licensing and all that good stuff would probably be really tricky to impossible. The irony is one of YJ editors works there now.

Its a double edged sword; maybe three edged sword (and I'm not talking the JMS variety, although that's almost apt if schizophrenia could be / is a factor --- pun not intended, but heavily funny if you know the reference, which I don't expect anyone here too =( ).

Basically as you probably picked up, GW is nortorious for always believing his properties have potential to come back so taking queues from other writers, all the extra auxiliary work he's done on things that hasn't necessarily been revealed, he won't give you without being paid to do so (through the commission of a project, generally speaking, though it does seem like he has in the past had major reveals at meetups; which he is paid to do).

On the same token, he has earned himself quite the reputation of being an internet troll over the years of seemingly very purposely "not understanding" questions that an otherwise average person with average information on the topic could understand. For me, its a little hard to judge this because, well, being a Pysch major. I know people, especially people that exhibit Weisman' relative talent can trend towards this problem. The videos I've seen of him don't clue me in at all if this is a case of intentional or unintentional design. The only thing I can say from the videos I've seen from him; it would take an offal lot of interaction with him to make such a determination. I can say this, a lot of what Weisman does is by habit and very purposely so it does lend me to believe when he says "I don't understand" on something that is obviously easy to understand, he IS trolling purposely, I'm not exactly willing to throwing book at him and certainly not in all situations. I will re-state I am referring only to situations where an average person of average knowledge should understand the question, not a question that makes no sense to anyone.

Then I guess there's the final point: it seems like where the designations are concerned and things of that nature, to (re)confirm / type them out / verify them, thats about 15 - 45 minutes worth of work these days depending on where his notes are, where he needs to grab them from, etc, etc, etc. I guess if the first point about making money is true, this point is true: we'll never get this information solidly from his mouth unless money is involved or unless he happens to have the list handy (which probably means money was involved).

I'm not wholly trying to paint a picture of Greg being money grubber, heck, he wouldn't have worked on Young Justice for whole EXTRA YEAR for nothing if he was and we do have know about what what the ballpark of what the guy makes is, he's no 1%er, 2%er or even a 3%er (no one except the mid to top brass in that industry makes a ton of money, just enough to be well off) but a more recent post from Greg does resonate with me: he said he'd do almost anything to get Young Justice up and running again except work for free. Though I don't expect anyone to work for free, except for a labor of love and even then, only for a short time, I wonder exactly what that means where Greg is concerned sometimes.

Keep in mind that the norm is not learning *anything* about what happens and what happened outside of an animated series' canon. Fans of Weisman's stuff should be thankful they get anything at all.

As Greg learned with Gargoyles, as was out into practice with Spectacular Spider-Man, and then tightened up for YJ, the more info he gives out the more fans guess and pick it apart.

His blanket policy of no spoilers is not just because there might be a chance of a revival, but also he doesn't want to give out plot info that's devoid of proper context. The execution of them in the show matters more than just laying it all out in a blog post. Fans out there second guess and pick everything apart when they'd have no chance to see how well it would've been executed.

It's like if Star Wars Empire Strikes back never happened and Lucas just told fans "oh yeah, Vader is Luke's real father." It sounds hollow and convoluted because it is devoid of the execution that made the scene and reveal so powerful. As a creator you want people to see your creation executed how you want rather than told without any of the context that needs to happen.

As for the "show's over so there's no point in keeping secrets" argument: well the reason for not spoilering it is the same for why fans still want to know. If the show's over, 100%, dead as a dodo, then why keep asking for spoilers? That doesn't get you more of the show, it doesn't change things, and none of it matters. Why so persistent with spoiler questions about a cancelled show?

Because as fans we deserve every bit of information no matter how inconsequential. :p

I'm only really befuddled why he posted a designation 27 and 28 for the WF interview when no such induction was hinted, implied, or alluded to in the series finale. How could he not expect fans to keep inquiring about it in addition to an existing question about A-06 to A-09? Has he done something similar to this for Gargoyles and given it away on Ask Greg 10 years later?

Greg still gives away Gargoyles info on Ask Greg.

Though you've just reminded me of the original "spoilers" question from Gargoyles. "What did Titania whisper to Fox in The Gathering Part 2?" Because it was asked so much and became a "big mystery" in the fandom, now Greg won't reveal it because it would be anti-climactic.

The lesson from that is if you keep badgering him about minor things the more he isn't going to answer them. I thought that was fairly obvious when this entire "spoiler request, no comment" thing started, though it seemed to get worse with fans not better. If he answers one inconsequential detail then tons of fans start asking more questions along the same lines, hoping to get more info from him. Hence the "What age is X character" questions that flooded in. If he answers "where's Zatanna's Base of Operations" then suddenly the questions will flood about every other character’s secret base.

It's not that Greg's a troll but that fans are too needy and incredibly impatient.

I see, thanks Reaf. I think a lot of that current culture of instant gratification also factors in with the fans online, and Mr. Weisman doesn't indulge that thankfully I suppose. When he answers a bunch of questions, you start thinking he's going to answer a bunch everyday and when he gets too busy with his other projects but still tweets, fans jump to conclusions about him not being fair with answers/spoilers.

Who says they can't? They run another version of superman on this license by continuing Smallville in digital comics form. So I don't see why Young Justice can't do the same if they want to.

The YJ panel at Long Beach Comic Con on Saturday November 23 2pm Room 104A is shaping to be rather epic.

I misspoke. They won't at the moment.

I think at the moment Smallville is a different kettle of fish since it was a long running TV show and there's a wave of comics’ based on long-running TV shows at the moment, freaking Charmed has a comic now. There's the fact that it'd be in the kids section, which if it was making enough money there DC wouldn't have cancelled their tie-in comic, and I can't see DC moving it elsewhere since most of the show fans will still be kids, unlike the Batman Beyond fans. There's also the fact that DC seems to have a tighter leash for their characters at the moment. Remember when Smallville tried to use Stephanie Brown as Nightwing, it got announced and finished artwork was shown, then DC said she needed to be Barbara Gordon. With YJ massive amount of characters I can imagine similar situations happening, and that wouldn't be good for anyone.

Bottom line, if a comic is going to happen there needs to be a lot of fan support for it, much more than what the tie-in comic was getting.

Here's an interview Nerdy Show did with Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti: Episode 160

Interesting they were paired for Green Lantern initially then had a Space Ghost idea, and some of their inspirations for Young Justice. Learn the origin of "whelmed"! Really a great listen.

Also, they did reveal there was an idea for a Two-Face story and an issue that used an episode of Hello, Megan! as a framing device.

Thank you, Romania, we thought the film will never see the light of day here. Still, why are you waiting some more and launching the film days later than in good ol America?
