Aww, its okay man. People will be people. *Internet hug.

Besides, the comparison is dumb. They're really going in two radically different directions as cartoons. Marvel is trying to boost its animation where and piggyback off the movies while DC seems to really be only focused on creating awesome direct to DVD movies and giving the fans what makes money, TTG, while canceling all the stuff adult fans wanted like YJ.
In fairness, it's less on DC and more on Cartoon Network that the cartoons they aim at general audiences gets cancelled. Young Justice, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, and Beware the Batman are all evidence of that :(.

DC would probably be doing a lot more cartoons if it was within their power or if they had a chance for them to succeed ;).

September 26: Clip from tonight's episode:

Update: October 9th: From Comic Book Resources' coverage of the NYCC Marvel Animation panel:

Spider-Gwen is nothing but a Black Cat wannabe.

That's pretty impressive since all they have in common in is the fact that they're both girls. Spider-Man is such a Shaft wannabe!

Buckley says it is likely we will see Silk and Spider-Gwen
Spider-Gwen is not a surprise, especially considering we're apparently getting another Spider-Verse event this season and she's one of the biggest thing Marvel is pushing right now (like it or not), though I'm iffy on how I feel about Silk o_O.

While the cartoon would probably do her ten times better than she was in her original appearances by Dan Slott, and I've grown to like her over the course of reading her ongoing book, there are still plenty of characters in the world of Spider-Man I'd like to see appear in USM before her :(.

I mean, we haven't seen Prowler in animation proper since the '94 cartoon! Or, I don't know... Anya/Arana? I doubt this show could do Black Cat justice so I'd rather they not use her, but there's still plenty of other characters from Spidey's history to use. Especially when Silk is so new, and I'm saying that as someone who likes the character (well, at least I do now).

Why would I not be surprised if a story element and comic series that Wacker helped spearhead might finally make its way into a cartoon he has a hand in :p?

I kind of doubt the characters will really be that impressive on the show, but I'm just glad they're adding some more girls to the cast.

I wonder which villains they plan on tweaking, and what changes they'll make - hopefully for the better.

Actually, some time ago, I posted some spoilers/rumors I found through several websites about potential events in the future of the three series. But they were erased because someone accused me of having invented them myself. One of those rumors said that the Lizard and Rhino would be eventually replaced by Mysterio and Carnage in the Sinister Six. I don't know if they were real or not, but this one sounded quite logical and possible to me. Well, they are not officially confirmed, but I'd say that Buckley words could add a little more veracity to this one at least.

By the way, another of those spoilers/rumors I found was about the potential debut of Reptil in the series. I believe this one has been confirmed by Marvel's Christmas special "Frost Fight".

More ladies added to the MAU is definitely a good thing ;).

Wasn't Electro supposed to get his black bodysuit from ASM 2? I guess that fits o_O?

For the record, your posts weren't deleted. The thread you started was merged with an already existing thread which pretty much had the same subject: 2016 and Beyond...What's Next for the Marvel Animated Universe?.

I would hold off on that because we've had people guess that stuff was "confirmed" by outside media before only to have it to turn out false.

Remember when people kept saying we were gonna see the Wasp and Black Cat because they showed up in Disney Infinity?

The rumors about Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch joining the cast of Avengers Assemble because they were in the second Avengers movie?

Well, Disney Infinity had a lot of other spoilers already confirmed with new characters: Mysterio, Jack O'Lantern (his glider as a Power Disc), Ghost Rider (his chain-whip as a Power Disc), Black Panther (his vibranium's daggers)... etc. About Black Cat, there has been some hints about her potential debut in the next series. About the Wasp, I can't say anything, but I would have really liked to see her in "Avengers Assemble".

I'm not sure this would be a good idea. First of all, I think these characters are too new for debuting so quick in the animated series (Agent Venom is little older in comics). And besides, there are a few more problems around here:
+ Spider-Gwen: One of her main traits is the fact that she was one of the most important persons in Spider-Man's life before her tragic death. However, in "Ultimate Spider-Man", there is no counterpart of gwen Stacy and Spider-Man has never met this girl in this reality. So the potential "sentimental impact" in this reality is anulated because there's no Gwen Stacy in "Ultimate Spider-Man".
+ Silk: Not only she's too new, but also because she's involved too much in Spider-Man's history to make her debut now. I mean, through Silk, we should met Ezekiel Sims and all his world. The bunker part is also complicated, and the part where she and Peter were bitten by the same spider. Not to mention the tiny detail that, when they are together, they have the animal impulses of pheromones and stuff.
*Honestly, I would prefer a version of Mary Jane with Spider-Powers, like in "Spider-Island".

And about the "Superior Spider-Junk"... I really gonna be sick!! Bad enough is that I hate this story, but it's even more unacceptable in this series after so many "mind switcheroos" in the series: Wolverine, Hulk, Loki and even Arnim Zola. And sick of this!! Not to mention that, after so many brain switchs, SHIELD could recognize Ock's masquerade instantly. The only way I could accept it is if Doc Ock clones a body of Spider-Man (like Kaine), so we can have Amazing vs Superior.

Yes and for everything the outside media correct predicts there's a bunch of other stuff it doesn't. Remember when we had some Marvel Animated rumor thread where it was mentioned that we'd see a brand new team of Avengers this season? Or that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would join the team?

Remember the theories about how we wouldn't get Spider-Man Noir, we'd get Slinger from Avengers Assemble? Or that Miles Morales would be from the mainstream continuity not an alternate universe, since he was hinted at in an old episode?

Or my personal favorite, that the female Spider-Man from Web Warriors was gonna turn to be Mary Jane given powers from Spider-Island?

There's a ton of "theories" that never pan out.

That's a really arbitrary distinction. The movies and TV shows use recent elements and characters all the time. Not just the current Marvel shows either, it was done in the 90's by both Marvel and DC.

"Newness" doesn't really mean anything.

You act as though they have to follow the comics 100 percent, which they probably won't. We already had an alternate universe Gwen Stacy appear in the 90's show, remember? And there was not a single mention to her death or that the main Peter Parker even knew her on his world.

*Honestly, I would prefer a version of Mary Jane with Spider-Powers, like in "Spider-Island".

You've been carrying the torch for that theory for a while but I doubt it'll happen.

About the "Newness", I'm just saying that, although they have been updated with the style of 21st century, current Marvel in movies and series is basically following the classic history of the characters during the last 50 years. I have nothing against things changing through the years, but I don't like they change extremely quickly. I mean, considering where we are currently with the series and the movies, I don't think they will adapt so quickly stories like Steve Rogers turned into an old man, Falcon becoming the new Captain America, Thor losing Mjolnir and Jane Foster receiving it. (By the way, this last one, I would like they skip the cancer part at least). I mean, sure, they could do it, but they could only do it after completing the stories of the classic characters, who already have more that 50 years of adventures.

About Gwen Stacy, yes, I do remember they had one in the 90's show; but that's exactly the problem. The Gwen Stacy who appeared in the series was from an alternative world from the "main reality" of the series. She was the fianceé of an alternative Spider-Man who was an arrogant rich fool at the same style of Tony Stark. Since there was no Gwen Stacy in the main dimension of the series, the fun of her debut was neutralized. After all, in the main reality of the series, the reference to Gwen Stacy's death was adapted with Mary Jane replacing Gwen. And of course, the death part was replaced with MJ disappearing inside a dimensional portal. (I really wish they decide someday to tell somehow the end of that series). They could have used Gwen Stacy in the main reality too for this, but they adapted it with Mary Jane instead. The point is, Miles Morales' thing can work because he's a "rookie", but Gwen no because she's quite a classic character in Marvel.

And about Mary Jane with Spider-Powers, I simply prefer to keep hope. There has been some realities in comics where MJ had spider-powers, and at this point, she could be the closest thing we could ever have to see MC2's Spider-Girl in animation. Besides, there was some What If? stories where somebody else was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter, and all of them where known people for Peter Parker. We had Flash Thompson (Captain Spider), Betty Brant (Spider-Girl) and John Jameson (Spider-Jameson). If they would adapt a story like that in animation, it should be using known people for Peter. In this case, the candidates would be Flash Thompson, Harry Osborn (surely it would be interesting) and Mary Jane; because they were in the Science Exposition with Peter in that reality.

About the "Newness", I'm just saying that, although they have been updated with the style of 21st century, current Marvel in movies and series is basically following the classic history of the characters during the last 50 years.

We've already seen a bunch of characters created only in the last decade jump over into the various adaptations. Maria Hill was only created around 2005 and is a recurring characters in the movies, while Daisy Johnson, a character from around that same time, is one of the main characters in Agents of SHIELD. We've also gotten the Red Hulk and A-Bomb in the cartoons and more recently Amadeus Cho, Agent Venom and Miles Morales. While you're correct that Agent Venom is older than Gwen, he only predates her by around 3 years. Ms. Marvel is even more recent, and it's been confirmed that she'll be showing up in Avengers Assemble next season. Silk and Spider-Gwen aren't much younger than most of those characters, so it's not that big a deal.

Heck, the Guardians of the Galaxy, one of Marvel's biggest surprise hits, is based off a specific incarnation of the team that was first published around 2006 or so.

The Marvel Universe has decades worth of characters to choose from, true, but adaptations using recent heroes is nothing new.

This is not true Marvel Animated Universe the one in the 90's is the ture Animated Universe.

Earth-751263 (Spider-Man: Unlimited)
Earth-634962 (Silver Surfer)

(P.S. This isn't just the wiki talking, their sources are from the official Marvel encyclopedia staff over at the Appendix.)

Edit: There's a new female character/antagonist and an X-Men mention (a sort-of subtle "take-that" at FOX one at that) in the latest USM tie-in digital comic.

(That was a mouthful.)

Thank you, Romania, we thought the film will never see the light of day here. Still, why are you waiting some more and launching the film days later than in good ol America?

You know at this point we really need to admit it is never coming home.
