MeTV Toons - Network TALKBACK & Discussion Thread

Pokemon and Kirby would be tough because Nintendo/HAL/Pokemon Company directly owns those, and they are very, very particular about who they license to.

But stuff like the DIC Sonic cartoons, Earthworm Jim, and the Nelvana Donkey Kong Country could be doable.
I don't support the idea of Pokémon and Kirby, so I second that. The former depends on Pokémon TV on social media

Well considering I want DreamWorks to get the film rights to Kirby, parent company NBCUniversal should buy the rights for non_Japanese distribution to the Kirby anime, and be the ones responsible for remastering the series in HD.

I think the Japanese version of Kirby was remastered in HD a few years back. But the issue with that is that the 4kids version made cuts on certain episodes that make it so that additional work would have to be made to sync up the old 4kids dub to the new hdified footage(for example there is an infamous scene in episode 2 where Kirby accidentally shoots up a police station that was cut from the dub) so It might be a while before Kirby could be repaired again.

Hopefully the Mario videogame stuff prompts metv toons to aquire more cheesy old video game cartoons.
Of which DIC made a lot and is still under Wildbrain.

However the Sonic Christmas Blast copy was processed back in the 2000s (that explains the Cookie Jar logo at the end). Since apparently SMB Super Show will air in full, that means that those copies are remastered and DIC's logo will be intact at the end.

On their website, the schedule updated to April 3rd (a Friday, although that's how far it's updated to that point), and as I thought, they are skipping the Zelda episodes. The episode for that day is being shown as "Rolling Down the River", the fifth regular "Mario" episode.

If it is the current version of the show, it will be really awkward if they show the Zelda previews, since the Zelda episodes themselves clearly won't be appearing. At least that's what it looks like at this point...

Disappointed just wanted license to Zelda show along with it?

There's going to be a mini Easter marathon on April 5th with 2 newly added Rankin-Bass specials in addition to The Greatest Adventure: Stories from the Bible returning (probably a one-off). Source from TVInsider.

I completely forgot Greatest Stories from the Bible was on the schedule before, and thought this could be a preview for the show.

I'm still waiting for the 90s Sonic shows. SatAM could fit in on Saturdays with all the action shows, AoSTH on weekdays.
The distribution rights to AoStH and certain other series (co-)produced by Bohbot Entertainment (including the Double Dragon cartoon) AFAIK currently belong to Invincible Media Partners, FYI.

Exclusive Linear TV rights for AoStH actually belongs to 41 Entertainment, who has licensed it to Invincible to stream and broadcast on their YTA TV Network. However, that doesn't mean Invincible has exclusive rights.

I think that would be possible. YTA TV doesn't have the reach MeTV and MeTV Toons have.

Reminds me that the UCKG-owned ULFN and Visión Latina had contracts with 41 to air Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures and Super Monsters

While this year it will be all about Space Jam's 30th anniversary, at the same time, its 2021 not-so-big sequel/reboot film also celebrates the milestone of 5 years since this month
