Surprised to see the Disney Classics block still exists on DC Nordic on Fridays. I've been actively watching and enjoying the old shows. I thought after unifying schedules it wouldn't survive but probably they got a special permission.
I don't know if I've asked this before and if I have I apologise in advance, but:
Why did DC DE even go on a month-long hiatus when becoming FTA? Every other feed that did this just switched on the day.
Likely reasons why:
- The existing pay-TV carriage deals expired, and there was no point renewing Disney Channel just for a month and a half, but continued carriage for Disney XD and Disney Junior (and an upgrade in HD) which would last the full length term of the new contract.
- Allow time for Das Vierte to wrap up their operations and fulfill their existing contracts.
- Disney's programming contract to Super RTL expired on 31st December 2013, they wanted to make sure Disney had full FTA rights before the FTA launch.
- The time gap allowed Disney to prepare and test the brand new worldwide branding before going live.
Oh, apologies.Likely due to the timing of contracts:
Anyone aware of what the point of this 'long night' block was?
Except that in this phase it was a pay-TV channel. FTA channels are allergicDC Germany should have just closed down overnight honestly, that block sounds awful.
And you're right, no credits. German and Dutch channels have always been allergic to them

Normal DOG with translucent inscription in use in Germany in 2008.
Also here they are airing credits
Like Atomic Betty (which, BTW here in the Philippines, was on Cartoon Network) as an example of a rotated show as I already said earlier. As far as end credits go, I actually saw a late night Disney Channel Germany continuity from June 18, 2012 (from the HD feed) on YouTube that had a clip from Atomic Betty at the beginning and there weren't any end credits for Atomic Betty in the continuity (episode was "Wizard of Orb") as it went straight to the Gleich bumper after the last scene of the Atomic Betty episode (the movie that came on after it was Brother Bear) and said continuity also had Lizzie McGuire at the end (oddly with the Shake It Up ident right before Lizzie started), so I assume there weren't any end credits for Lizzie McGuire on DC Germany in 2012 either, but I'm not sure since right before the end credits of Lizzie McGuire, there was a blooper reel in I think almost every episode. It was rotated shows, not the same show every night or the same episodes every night. As for credits, AFAIK they did show them most of the time though, maybe not with some special blocks though
