International Disney Networks Thread Part 17

As a catch-all channel? Sure, go ahead. I think this would test the limits of, uh, something?

By the way, I guess that the return of Disney Jr. to the UK and Italy did have no effect on kids, because they're still using online platforms a lot.
There has been no "buzz" with this relaunch, but it's hard to imagine one from preschoolers, so probably the channel is not going too bad and we don't know (although probably that's wishful thinking).

If Disney Jr is struggling, since preschoolers watch more TV than older children, you could only imagine how Disney Channel would struggle in the UK and Italy...

Let's not get our hopes too high

Now I hope they dropped the AI models for the announcers for Disney Jr. Italy. Even I could do better, like those guys who try writing in a foreign language and commit mistakes.

I thought she sounded AI, but I now think she sounds like a real voice, to be honest.

AI voices tend to sound worse.

And no offense, but real dubbing (or official) Italian, with its 7 vowels and consonants doubled in the right contexts, tends to be hard, even among many Italians :D .

I've seen so many foreigners overestimating their Italian knowledge (but it goes with every language), only to sound weird or sound like Super Mario

Foreigners, no Italian sound like that, ever!
It's the linguistic version of Olive Garden...

I think that they legit hired an ISL (Italian as a Second Language) (could be third) speaker they could find in Madrid. Even I can put a near-perfect accent if I was hired as its announcer :P

If not even the homegrown DeAgostini kids channels or anything CN and Nick can do stellar results on Sky Italia, why you think Disney Jr. can do the miracle?

To be fair, Disney has a renowned international brand, while DeAgostini is mostly known for publishing and so on, but within Italy.

Said that, I know what you mean: if established brands are struggling, why Disney shouldn't?
Although Disney is a very strong brand.

Time will tell, but honestly, I have some doubts
Disney even had this huge idea about restricting their channels to Sky-branded companies (not NOW, for instance), and NOW has many subscribers now, if not more than Sky.

@RandomMe
She's not a Spaniard.
She doesn't have typical Castilian traits like retracted S, higher speed than usual (for Italian), and so on

Well, by checking the Auditel, the kids channels on Sky all do very little. Many factors, surely.
(They're never too late to launch Disney+ Cinema in Italy, though, perhaps that one can do a smidge better.)

channels using AI voices in big European countries is unlikely they have big voice acting Industries and the like, it is easier to do it in smaller less develop countries

There has been online buzz but the Disney Channel demographic likely won't miss it or want it. I have accepted the fact it's not coming. Doesn't affect me as I already have a Disney channel that most of the world no longer has.

How come Disney+ in Denmark, Sweden and Norway (plus Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which have a content Disney+ library based off of that of the three Scandinavian countries) somehow still don't have the final five episodes of The Ghost and Molly McGee yet? Pretty much every other European country already has these episodes. Plus, Amphibia and The Owl House are already complete.

(Finland has a somewhat more limited Disney+ library, in part due to some legacy shows either not having Finnish dubs or not having Finnish subtitles.)

I don't have linear.

Were these episodes ever aired on Disney Channel in Scandinavia, @Rrr and @Markus?

And besides, what exactly is it that's keeping StuGo from airing on Disney Channel or releasing on Disney+ in Scandinavia?

Disney+ Cinema Italy would be overboard to ms

On the DC EMEA feed we had temporarily before the relaunch yes so technically it counts.

StuGo probably isn't even dubbed if they are skipping on it. That's the only reason I can think of. The other might be that it's cancelled but I doubt it's that cause EB will premiere.

The most recent batch of The Ghost and Molly McGee episodes added to Disney+ in Scandinavia, Iceland and Baltics (season 2 episodes 7–16) was added to the service all the way back in May 2024, over two years ago.

We have not had any additional season 2 episodes added to the platform in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania since then. Period.

Meanwhile, season 3 of The Owl House was added to Disney+ in Nordics and Baltics on October 18, 2023, and the third season of Amphibia was released on Disney+ in Scandinavia, Iceland and Baltics on March 29, 2023.

Not for me, movie channels do definitely better than kids channels. And Sky would benefit to have an external movie channel that is exclusive (yeah, sure, La7 Cinema, Cine34 and Iris exist but they're all DTT imports!).
Also, since Disney will never give back National Geographic or Star Channel to Italy, Disney+ Cinema is a nice compromise for an "adult" channel.

But they did air on Disney Channel. That's the point. They forgot to add the episodes so I would suggest you to contact them and talk about this issue. Writing here won't solve this situation.

Not everybody in Denmark actually has access to linear, Markus; there are plenty of people who rely on Disney+ as their main way of watching Disney Channel programming. That's why it's so important to have as many episodes of any given TV series as possible on the streaming service.

And some programs simply do not air on the current version of Disney Channel in Nordics anymore—those programs are pretty much Disney+-exclusive in practice nowadays.

I've already submitted a request for the remaining episodes of The Ghost and Molly McGee to be added to Disney+ in Denmark. Let's hope something actually happens…

I never stated everyone has linear. My point is that these episodes already premiered on linear so the dubs are available. There's no reason for you to defend them but then come here to talk about the missing episodes. There's help centre available.

You might prefer streaming but let people watch linear channels if they want. You can't suggest to everyone to only go on streaming. Simply not everyone is ready. It takes generations before we can call it goodbye to traditional TV.

Yes, it's not as exciting as it used to be but it's not unwatchable either. At least marathons aren't as common as in the US.

The same way STAR Channel UK never returned after its 2021 closure

But UK got DIsney+ Cinema! Why Italy has to sit and watch? (Also, it would be a way to compensate the perpetual lack of Disney Cinemagic that Italy had.)

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
