International Disney Networks Thread Part 17

Thankfully STAR Channel is still over here and it helps as it's FTA. Same with National Geographic. Not high ratings unless a Disney Pixar movie airs.

Most other European countries already have the final five episodes of The Ghost and Molly McGee readily available on Disney+! What's taking so long for Disney+ in Scandinavia, Iceland and Baltics to add them?

I doubt it's laziness as it only takes some minutes to add them. It's something that they forgot to add.

Disney Channel Spain continuity from summer 2004.

This includes two "Travel This Summer" promos, one for Dave the Barbarian and one for the 1994 live-action The Flintstones movie (yes, the one with John Goodman in it).

Also, kind of tangentially related to international Disney Channel, but I just recently checked the Fernsehserien page for Atomic Betty today (mentioning this as it aired on Disney Channel Germany also in Spain, Portugal and Japan) and I noticed the thumbnail for the show on Fernsehserien recently changed from this:

honestly i love old disney channel stuff (especially internationally) in fact I've always loved it mostly because it's so interesting and fascinating to talk about compared to the modern stuff it's not that I hate it but sometimes it can be kind of boring to talk about.

there used to be a channel that had playlists full of DC Spain France Italy content from over the years and I would watch thoses all the time specifically the content from the 90s 2000s and 2010s

seriously if anyone can find more Disney Channel Germany (the pay TV one) content from its early years that would be highly appreciated

Yep, especially recordings of Caitlin's Way and In a Heartbeat (during the Circles and Bounce eras) from Disney Channel Germany, as well as Atomic Betty (during the Bounce, Ribbon and Shooting Star eras) and Life with Derek (during the Bounce and Ribbon eras) also from Disney Channel Germany. These shows are the hardest to find (at least to me) in Bounce era Disney Channel Germany.

May I remind you that Caitlin's Way came on Friday and Saturday nights at 11pm on Disney Channel Germany during the Bounce era during 2004-05.

Interestingly, DC Spain used the original theatrical print of "The Lion King", rather than the 2003 Special Edition one, given the fact it starts with Frank Wells dedication (seen at 1:11 in the video).

This reminds me of how the DC MENA 2004 promo for "The Lion King" used the original Arabic version of "Circle of Life" sung by Nina Juul, rather than the re-recording from 2003 SE version (which aside from this song features the same 1994 Egyptian Arabic dub):

I think Disney channel in the UK , Italy and Turkey should return for the summer and christmas seasons. This is because Disney channel has good branding during those periods and first time viewers can be drawn in to the channel. Disney could also launch a Hulu and a Hulu comedy channel and they could include all of their other channels on Disney+ in the UK and Europe, also the Star channels could rebrand to Hulu so they can be associated with Disney+.

Disney should also launch ESPN outside of the Netherlands as a live channel.

Just as a temporary channel, no. That would cost them to shut down and relaunch channels for short periods As much as I finally hate to admit this: they likely will never return. Now things would be different if there was a Disney +1 channel. Something Italy does for CN sometimes.

Well, Italy used to do that with +1 channels, since they're mostly gone from everywhere.
But yes, this is not going to happen

(Speaking of which, NG+1 in the UK shuts down next month)

@AllDayEveryDay so we can kind of assume DC Spain (and PT) never used the traditional Next/Now bumpers from Bounce ,opting for messier options, instead?

The live-action Flintstones movie. I only watched the sequel and even I didn't like the whole live-action movies out of cartoons trend

The same way STAR Channel UK never returned after it's 2021 closure

We never had STAR Channel, the channel closed as FOX, but I agree that its essentially the same thing.

The early days of Disney Channel in Europe is so much more interesting compared to the channel later on in its life, which is why I enjoyed writing that history article a couple of years ago.

exactly in fact keep it coming with the old continuities and magazines and the like on this thread it's really cool to see to see some rare stuff and you and Francisque talk about feeds like UK and Italy in the late 90s and early 2000s is very informative and intriguing to me
Link? Flew over my head though.

I don't think DC Iberia has ever had Next bumpers even during both the Red & Blue and Circles eras. They only started implementing the Now (Ahora) bumpers during Bounce.

DC UK also didn't use Next bumpers as much, naturally since they're the only DCI network to have continuity announcers during idents; most of said bumpers that surfaced online so far were used either before film airings or Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show.

DC UK was much smarter, using as "idents* their Now/Next bumpers as there was such a ridiculously small amount of idents for Bounce anyway, while Spain clinged to these idents, showing the same idents over and over, while the most fascinating aspect of Bounce, the bumpers (like Dogs, Space, Butterfly etc.) would be sadly lost.
The Spanish feeds were kind of messy and bizarre, and still are to some extent.

DC France also similarly had shorter Now bumpers.
DC Italy used both Next bumpers and idents, but idents would be replaced by Now bumpers in 2006.

The Next bumpers WERE actually used by DC UK, but only when the shows had non-normal credits (the credits with a clip, where an announcement could not be inserted), otherwise, an announcement would be inserted onto the credits, saying the next show and other stuff.
The Now bumpers were there all the time, though.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
