"spongebob square pants SUCKED! Just like all nickelodeon shows! Its just an immature excuse to show gross, worn out bathroom humor, so brainwashed little kids can get a few laughs. Whatever happened to good shows on nick, like "You Can't Do that On Television"? or "Pinwheel"? and HEY! what the hell happened to the original Double Dare? AND THE ELEPHANT SHOW??? I GREW UP ON THAT!", the angry little man says in 2001.

I think you found the ultimate example of "fandom panic" and "dissing stuff today in favor of stuff that really wasn't top-tier" (sans YCDTOTV) lol.

(for the latter I instead do the "dissing stuff today in favor of the stuff that really WAS top-tier and high class cinema (aka basically most Golden Age Cartoons, after all...they still hold up today!)" lol)

This is hilarious to read in hindsight.

Some of them, yes. And I do think that Lou was seen positively by most people (sans some like Mark Kausler). But most of them DESPISED the output that they were making.

It's really interesting though that so much defense of Lou has popped up considering the bigger picture here: The cartoons sucked.

The bigger picture to us, not to the people who worked for him. I'm sure they would rather have worked on shows they were proud of, but better any work than none at all, and better still a place they enjoyed working.

Eh. To each his own. I'm just the consumer after all, not the animation worker.

I guess, as they say "it's a living".

On January 4th 2003, a guy offers to sell episodes of My Little Pony and Jem on the TTTP board. Obviously, you can predict the reaction these people then have:

A similar situation happened again on the TTTP on June 14th 2003 but it didn't last nearly as long as the previous thread:

On March 16th 2004 on the TTTP, Nelson Hughes makes a joke post sarcastically praising the new "Scooby Doo, Where Are You!: The Complete First and Second Seasons" set and you can tell he is just SEETHING with rage at the series here!:

On August 31st 2016, a poll is conducted on the Cartoon Network Forum to called "Which show is better Teen Titans Go or Wabbit?". (Interesting comparison, considering that aside from both being reboots, they don't share much similarities with each other):

Yeah, I agree. I wouldn't have even posted this thread (it just seemed like you're typical mid-2010s Toonzone poll at face value and I'm not really as interested in those threads as I am with 2000s Toonzone polls (mainly for trying to find out examples of how some people reacted to some shows back in the day)) if it wasn't for the fact that Michael Ruocco made a Tweet about it.

Oh that posts (just saw your other posts). That post was made in response to someone coming in and attacking people for hating TTG. You don't see those posts because they were deleted.

I already knew that. It was just him going from "it's ok to like Teen Titans Go" to "it's not ok to like Teen Titans Go" that I really found funny.

Some people get mad at the fact that Scooby Doo will get "Lifetime Achievement Award" at Cartoon Network's Anvil Awards show and most demand Bugs Bunny to get the award instead:

Even though I also think Bugs Bunny is better than Scooby Doo...oof some of the comments here are just harsh. To some people this was probably their Crash beating Brokeback Mountain moment.
Just seen a Cartoon College bumper on MeTV Toons where Bob Bergan places Colonel Rimfire alongside Elmer Fudd being 2 classic cartoon hunters that have both succeeded in making us laugh.

I'm not really sure, Bob. I've laughed at Elmer Fudd FAR more than Colonel Rimfire. One is a dumb but funny hunter, the other is a generic hunter. You know which one I'd pick.
I've just read some dumb 40s articles from a lady named Florence Fisher Parry about Golden Age cartoons. They're pretty condensing.

You know, I have a hunch that a 5 year old kid today would probably like a "frenzied and dizzy" Tex Avery cartoon more than some simple preschool thing like Ham and Hattie. I think you would probably do as well.

Oh and one more thing, she's also has a condescending take on kids saying: "Little children go through a curious stage of savagery, as every parent knows, and can be conditioned to take almost anything in stride." Ouch.

Perhaps parents should educate their children about "frenzied and dizzy" things and prepare them for it. After all, the kids are going to encounter stuff like that later in life.
I have been reading a Tex Avery Facebook group lately and let me tell ya...it's hilarious for how bizzare some of the posts are.

(in reality, to quote Joe Adamson on the same thread "She had a lot of respect for Tex and finally came to see that when the split between her parents occurred she made a mistake in siding with her mother, who, like WC Fields' wife, was full of resentment")

Here's another funny comment from that Facebook place (from somebody goofing around after being fed up with one of the two people I mentioned earlier making annoying comments): "And Tex Avery was Spartacus. And Ward Kimball was Spartacus. And Rudy Larriva was Spartacus. Grim Natwick was older than Spartacus, so he doesn't count"

On March 17th 2010, someone makes a thread about John K where his goal for it is to only feature POSITIVE  comments about the guy!

That sounds like it would go over as well as Cans Without Labels.
Anyone ever experienced that weird melancholic feeling where you watch/read something that's an adaptation of a popular character, and you find out that was the only thing done with that version?

Like you're aware that there are other adaptations of that character but something about that version really made you wish that there was more done with that incarnation beyond that work.

Two of the things that come to mind for me are the Hanna Barbera version of Alice in Wonderland, and Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade.

I guess you could call that a yearning for more stuff done with those versions? IDK it's a weird feeling.

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
