Adi Shankar to create a Far Cry Anime for Netflix:

It's based on an expansion pack for Far Cry 3 it seems and I guess Netflix is still using the term anime to market these adult animated series.

I thought this was going to be a more traditional animated take on Far Cry, but this take seems like it'll lend itself well to animation...

Yeah - as an American cartoon fan who prefers that far over anything anime and knows the truth/difference between both sides of the argument by now, it's getting sad and annoying, now. It's like being called an American cartoon that wants to be serious and not TLH is just a curse, now. It's real sad and annoying to see such a label, even if the show turns out hopefully good, honestly.

That's a whole generation of kids/teens being lied to about what's an American cartoon, what's an anime, and what isn't either, and it sucks to see just that, furthermore.

Never heard of the games. Trailer gave some Suicide Squad vibes down to the exploding brain bit. Might watch it if I have NF active when this comes out.

This looks AWESOME! I don't know what to be more excited for, Scavenger's Reign? Castlevania? New Invincible? the Rick and Morty anime? All so good that I feel like I can't even binge watch the other shows I gotta watch!

I am not super familiar with the games, but those games seem like an anthology rather than one cohesive story.

Saw all 6 episodes, and let me say this…

Rayman in the show is quite reminiscent of how Ubisoft has been treating him over the past years, basically ever since Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Fan of Far Cry games, I found this show is interesting.

Umm. This was a show. I thought with Arcane that Netflix was willing to release action cartoons without the "anime" label, but I was wrong. At least at the beginning of the show it had the text "A Netflix original series" instead of "A Netflix original anime." I would personally love for a show to be introduced as, "A Netflix original cartoon" and not have any negative stigma attached to the word. Don't know when cartoon will stop being a dirty word and Netflix feeling like they have to call it an anime to get it accepted. Anyway, the anime label didn't help this show chart.

As for how this show compared their landmark Castlevania and Arcane series, this series seemed to be mostly big, dumb violence. We've seen the cliché freedom fighters vs. evil empire story and Suicide Squad style explosive collars. Nothing narratively that creative. Characters were boring and one note except for the frog guy who saved this show from being unwatchably boring. And finally we've got to talk about what this show did with Rayman,
I thought Shadow the Hedgehog was edgy and silly. Shadow never said an F bomb ever or snorted cocaine.
It seems game fans gave this show high marks with a 93% Rotten Tomatoes audience score, so I'm in the minority. I think it pales compared to the rest of this recent batch of American adult animation, but I guess it works for those who want to cartoon characters kill each other. It's just that there's better alternatives out there.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
