"To all those wondering if Fionna and Cake would be getting a third season, so far we haven’t heard anything about that. Instead, it looks like the team that created it is moving on to something else: a new HBO Max series, also aimed at adults, called Adventure Time: Bubblegum and Marceline.

The series is about, obviously, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, who played the WT/WT game across several seasons of the original Adventure Time series before officially becoming a couple in the series finale. We got to see brief flashes of their life together in Fionna and Cake, but their own show promises to be far more substantial."

Considering the ending of season 2 of Fionna and Cake was Hunson encountering Marshall Lee in Fionna World it is still possible to easily tie that back into this story. I mean THAT was the big hook as though the idea of Fionna and Hunter and others having more adventures outside their little city was interesting THAT'S what I really wanted more of so as long as this series really touches on that i don't need a season 3 of Fionna and Cake.

But even ignoring that I am glad even as we are prepping for Side Quests, CN does know the value of Adventure Time isn't just in the kid fans but in the older fans who want new stories with people already established and I'm certainly down for more bubbline. Like the Distant Lands special was good (well when it was focused on Bubblegum or Marceline like anything with the glass people was annoying) but giving an entire series makes sense plus yeah if Harley Quinn is gone having another saphic starring animated series on Max makes sense. Despite what I hinted it though I would also want to touch on Bubblegum hijinks as much as whatever is going on with Marceline like there's plenty you can do with both pars of the couple.
