"Batman: Assault on Arkham" Animated Feature Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

August 12, that's pretty decent. Though one wonders what animated releases await in September-December. Hopefully Beware season 2 at least.

They do seem to be getting into another phase of bare bones special features... I, too, love the commentary tracks.

WB are rather inconsistent with their special features... this looks like a particularly disappointing batch. As far as the release date goes, I would have held it off until September, if only to position it closer to Arkham Knight's release.

I do wonder how long these DC Universe releases will remain profitable. I mean, lets face it, the crews aren't re-using 10 year old background designs out of choice.

I'm guessing one of those bonus episodes will be Justice League Unlimited's "Task Force X". Not sure about the others.

Still wish they got Kari Wahlgren for Harley Quinn, she would have been gr

can anyone explain to me why for last three dc animated movies in a row we gotten criminal minds alum as the voices first shemar moore as cyborg in war, thomas gibson as deathstroke in son of batman and now mathew gray grubler as riddler for this one i not complaining i just curious about it.

Voice directors casting couch is their home sofa in front of the television.

I wish they would stop casting actors like that. I've felt that a lot of these latest films have had stiff/forced voice jobs (not natural sounding), and they could do a lot better if they actually had auditions.

As the others have alluded to, Andrea Romano has both a list of who she wants to work with, those she's already worked with, and also casts from her favorite shows. Criminal Minds happens to be one of them currently. I'm not sure if it's always like that and not a mix of auditions, too. It should be.

I just saw a "sneak peak" of this film and i have to say, i'm both worried and repulsed.

An Angry Harley Quinn + someone's ear = a disgusting image that will not leave my head (no matter how hard i try)

I'm torn: i want to watch this movie as a Batman fan, but after what i just saw (retch), i'm not sure anymore

BTW, who was that silver-haired woman in the blue tights?

I wonder if they'll stay true to the video games.

I would hope that at least some of Batman's moves from the game make it into the movie :).

1) I finally got a chance to listen on CBC's interview with Jay Oliva posted back on May 12. While it's more about Oliva's career, he did sorta solve a mystery at the 1 hour, 3 minute mark. For those that did a wondered 'wait, Assault on Arkham was directed by Jay Oliva but now after this trailer it's co-directed by Jay Oliva and Ethan Spaulding, what gives?' The answer is Oliva got pulled off Assault on Arkham for two months, April-May (of 2012 or 2013 I guess, it isn't specified), to work full-time on the Superman 75 short. In those two months, Spaulding worked on Assault.

2) Super PR Guy released a new teaser image on Friday. Real subtle, Riddler.

3) Teaser images so far

May 30 - Joker

5) New clip

Troy Baker talks about his take on Joker and a new Joker-centric clip on a new episode of DC All Access. And yup, Baker introduces the clip in his Joker voice.

Jennifer Hale as Killer Frost... no surprise there ;).

I think Young Justice is pretty much the only animated DC work where she hasn't played Frost .

Seeing Joker getting bitter over Harley's "new man," who I assume is Deadshot, is pretty interesting considering how he tends to treat her. Thought it looks like Harley is, of course, not completely over him since she gives him a method of escaping from Arkham. Though I wonder if it was actually unintentional?

It seems a commentary is coming to the Batman: Assault on Arkham Blu-ray. Sadly, four featurettes were stated to be a part of the set, but only one featurette and a documentary have been announced. Maybe they are saving those other featurettes as a surprise or ...there was a typo by the company. “Batman: Assault On Arkham” Sets An August 12th, 2014 Release Date, Initial Blu-Ray Details Also, I'm still hoping to see the Batman 75th anniversary shorts on home video. The Superman 75th anniversary short made it's way to the Man of Steel Blu-ray. Without a big live-action Batman movie releasing, I hope an animated set receives the shorts; this or Beware The Batman Season 1 Part 2. Lastly, I would like to see something for the video game series, whether that's a trailer for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight, or a featurette about the Batman Arkham series as a whole. And maybe a post-credit scene revealing where Deathstroke was during this movie.

Yeah, commentaries are generally my favorite BluRay extras. Glad to see one is coming for this film. Maybe they should also package a coupon for Arkham video games, heh.

Find it hard to beleive how this upcoming set has more than one normally-considered "politically incorrect" cartoon in new restoration form..

I'm not Canadian but I'm kind of upset that Teletoon became Cartoon Network Canada.
It's official: I have now preordered GTA VI for PlayStation 5; the more expensive and feature-complete Ultimate Edition of the game, that is. I also intend to buy a PS5 Slim optical drive next month (EDIT: Done!) in the hopes of maybe indirectly convincing SIE to reverse its controversial plans to go all-digital on all post–Jan 2028 PS console games, even though GTA VI is a digital-only game.
Happy anniversary to "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout".
