You be the Judge!

to me this is easy, the sharingan because you can see someone elses moves and take it.

This should make you almost unbeatable.

Yea, with the ability to predict your opponents moves, you should should have a significant advantage.

I'd also assume that being able to shut down the flow of chakra is a bit of an advantage. But it really all depends.

Right now,

Itachi would own any Byakugan.

Sasuke? Probably not.

Kishimoto said in the Official Character Databook that the Byakugan is better than the Sharingan.

End of discussion.

This is not the end of the discussion, this is someones opinion. So what? Kishimoto stated that, but others can disagree.

I have seen no reason to believe any Hyuuga could take down Itachi.

Uh, no. They can't disagree. Kishimoto is the creator of the Naruto world, all the characters, and the Byakugan and Sharingan.

You can no sooner disagree with him about the Byakugan being greater than the Sharingan than you can about Naruto having blue eyes.

I have seen no reason to believe any Hyuuga could take down Itachi.

Regardless, now we're talking about individuals, not the eyes. We know the Village Hidden in the Leaves is supposed to be stronger than the Village Hidden in the Sand, but that doesn't mean Konohamaru could beat Gaara.

I'd argue Hiashi could beat Itachi, but this isn't the place for that.

The question is which is greater between the Byakugan and Sharingan. Kishimoto, the ultimate authority on Naruto, has flat out said the Byakugan is. Therefore, there's no point in arguing that.

Sharingan! It's got the best advantages, and with what Itachi can do with his... no doubt.

They're both useful for different tasks.

Byakugan is best suited for reconnaissance and tracking, with it's ability to see long distances through solid matter. In combat, it does have usefulness as far as being able to see nearly 360 degrees, as to avoid surprise attacks. However, in actual combat, it's really only good with the Hyuuga Gentle Fist style of combat using it to pinpoint the particular weak spots.

Sharingan, on the other hand, is more suited to combat. Being able to read your opponent's movements and understand them accurately is important in battle. Unlike the Byakugan, the Sharingan also possesses an offensive form in the Mangekyou genjutsu. The Byakugan, to my knowledge, does not possess any offensive qualities.

If I recall correctly, the Sharingan is actually sort of a genetic offshoot of the Byakugan, and they were originally from the same family...meaning that the Uchihas and the Hyuugas are probably distantly related.

Well to be fair that would mean the Byakugan is best with whoever's using it since all Hyuuga's are trained to use the gentle fist style. Sure it depends on how far some will go with them but all are trained to use that style when using the Byakugan in fighting. I mean it's not like we've seen anyone not part of the Hyugga clan who can use the Byukagan. To compare, even though Kakashi can use the Sharrigan he's not part of the Uchida clan so he can't use it as well as an Uchida who trained as long with it (or someone like Itachi) because he dosen't have they're strength.

Yup. According to the manga before the Hinata/Neji fight in the Chunin exams, it is stated "Sasuke's own Uchida clan can trace it's orgins back to the Hyuga clan." Which means that the Hyuga clan once included the Uchida clan but they branched off. Guess that makes sense if there's a main regular branch of the Hyuga and a cadet branch. Guess the third branch was the Uchida until it became it's own "Tree" or something.

But as Spoontang said they're both good for different reasons. The Byakugan is more for percieving an opponent's mental state when in battle and knowing what's happening all around the battlefield. The Sharrigan is good for percieving an opponent's attacks (mainly genjutsu and ninjutsu) and actually being able to copy them once learned. In pure combat I would say Sharrigan if used alone but in a combination attack with another jutsu I would say Byukaguan if there was someone who could use it on the level of Itachi. (Maybe Hiashi but we haven't seen enough of his fighting to determine that).

But I do remember Kakashi or someone say during the Chuunin Exams that the Byakugan was the stronger of the two.

Actually he said The Byakuagan was "an ocular art in some ways simialr to the Sharrigan, but in its penetrating perceptive ability... the Byakaugan surpasses the Sharrigan completley". In other words he says it's stronger at seeing into a person and knowing who they are more then the Sharrigan would be able to do. Dosen't mean it's stronger as an attack or a technique though unless you were specifically talking about "penetrating perceptive ability".

It should've ran for as many seasons and episodes as its post-predecessor Uncle Grandpa did.
I wish Imgur wasn't allowed on this forum until the time is right for a return since it's been unavailable in the UK since last September, so I don't see why people use links from the site for here when it's no longer available in the UK and I'm really angry that their parent company made this stupid decision.
Happy 45th anniversary, MTV.
MeTV Toons is a great channel when it comes to classic cartoons, but we know it can be way better. The Duck4Real (me!) elaborates on this in his latest YouTube vlog. Watch it!
