Megalo Box
Episode 6 - "Until The Last Dog Dies"

Aragaki's superior training and experience put Joe at a major disadvantage in their match.

OP: "Bite" by LEO Imai
ED: "Come to Me" by Emi Nakamura

No spoilers. The flashbacks are hard enough.

Previously on Megalo Box: This...IS a boxing show, right?

Saved by the proverbial bell.

Last time: The boxing equivalent of an army guy's wife sending him pictures of her in bed with another man.

NOW say "I must break you"--COME ON SAY IT! That was the perfect opportunity.

So this isn't just a personal vendetta against his teacher.

And he walks off like "next victim."

You do know you have to punch him back, right?

There ya go.

Joe absorbing the blows and then landing one of his own. He's leveling up.

Take that you stupid war veteran!

Don't beat him up, you'll make him angrier!

Nanbu-wan has taught you well.

Joe's only getting stronger by absorbing these blows.

Oh we got a fight right here.

Miyagi? Was that a Karate Kid reference?

Well, that was anticlimactic.

"His body may be broken but his spirit will get stronger" Yeah but you need the body to continue

Win by forfeit? Well, a win's a win.

You had a good career. There's no shame in the way it ended.

EVA? IS NERV his sponsor?

Yeah yeah yeah, I'll pay when tomorrow starts today...

Old boxers never die, they just fade away.

What kind of a promo is this? Someone hit him with a chair or something!

Those guys are pretty good at stopping mid-punch when the bell rings. Figures those leg implants couldn''t take the duration of a longer fight. Doubtful the Megalonia fighters will have that kind of weakness though. That smug jerk was kinda right at the end, is Joe really going gearless all the way?

Episode 6 was pretty sweet,

Previous episode: Enter Aragaki and Gansaku's past seeing Aragaki haunts him, great drama there.

Aragaki, my favorite great interesting major rival antagonist:D.

Joe getting up from the 9th count to continue to fight Aragaki was great.

Joe to distribute his weight taught by Gansaku was great.

Aragaki/Gansaku's flashback memories was great/interesting.

Aragaki developing having a change of heart forfeiting at the start of the 5th round was sweet:anime:.

Joe vs. Aragaki was a great intense boxing fight.

Aragaki getting along reconciling with Gansaku giving him a betting slip for Joe from his war days was sweet/touching.

Mikio appears, my favorite great new rival villain, a terrible smug arrogant creep having a plan to stop Joe from making it to Megalonia, he'll fail, hehehe:p, nice cliffhanger.

Got to give credit to the animators for this show. This has been one of the most underrated shows on the lineup. Looks like we won't get very many short shows after this one.

I thought that this episode was pretty good. Joe getting up was expected, but he actually did put what Nabu taught him into place. It was clearly affecting Aragaki and reminding him more of his early days with Nabu as his coach. The match was a bit closer than I expected after how it looked at the end of the previous episode.

While I find Aragaki more sympathetic and interesting than Joe, I was okay with how Joe won the match. Aragaki's leg implants couldn't really last through a long match without injurying himself in the process. It might have felt a bit anticlimactic after they spent the previous episode hyping up the match, but I felt like it was pretty fitting. Aragaki was ranked so much higher than Joe and had nearly knocked him out in just the first round. Winning by forfeit made sense. Joe might have been able to win if they had been able to go a bit longer, but it would have been hard on both of them.

I liked that Aragaki was about to talk to Nabu at the end. That match was a good way for his boxing career to end. He also showed Nabu that he still valued their time together since that's what kept him from killing himself years ago. Overall, it was a pretty good episode.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
