This week on Samurai 7...
Kambei's rescue has created deep rifts between Katsushiro and his sensei. At a time when every move is critical, with Ukyo's plot rapidly unfolding, can the samurai survive their team being split in two?

Last time on Samurai 7...

Kambei managed to overpower his executioner in front of the masses with the help of Mizuki's hairpin, but was quickly deterred from any further action when Ukyo announced that he was pardoning him and freeing the kidnapped women. He and the others, including the freed women, then headed to Firefly House to spend the night. Meanwhile, Tessai approached Ayamaro and told him that the emperor had no intention of keeping him alive and that he had no more use for his former "father." Tessai added that because he served him for so long, he wanted him to live and told him to flee. After, Ayamaro fled the capital, but was caught by Mohawk. Just as he was about to kill Ayamaro, Kyuzo arrived and killed Mohawk, after saying that he will not let him harm Ayamaro or Kambei. At Firefly House, the group talked about Sanae and how she truly loved the Amanushi. Katsushiro momentarily changed the subject, lashing out at Kambei for charging into the capital by himself. The subject was soon back to Sanae, and a frustrated Katsushiro said that there was nothing that could be done. Kirara angrily told him that she felt partly at blame, because she was not strong enough to save her. She added that he possibly couldn't understand the hardships the women in Kanna went through. Kikuchiyo then arrived and cracked a joke about how Kambei was getting soft. After, Kambei stood up and hit Katsushiro and Kikuchiyo with the back of his sword calling them fools.
