Ben10 got a very limited attempted run on Toonami and was pulled QUICKLY. After the fact, we learned Cartoon Network didn't want Ben10 associated with Toonami as the fate for the block had already been all but sealed.
Totally Spies, while a great series, never aired on Toonami.
Both series DID run on Miguzi though.

Totally Spies never aired on Toonami. My point was that there were action shows that aired outside of Toonami while the block was still running. Miguzi was created in 2004 when weekday Toonami ended.
Totally Spies had been on the network since 2002 or something by that point.
Why oh why are so many people locked into this funk of thinking Toonami is going to start at 12:00.
Sure the "First run" just might --- but when they start thinking about acquisitions on a scale that would make a kick ass Saturday night block --- do you REALLY think they are gonna spend a lot of money to air shows so far off the radar? NO! That's like throwing money away. Would you throw a couple of thousand dollars away?
Well, the thing is that right now we know [adult swim] picked up two or three new anime for this year, and they are unlikely to get anymore until next year. The three shows they got are likely short, half year series like
Durarara, not long runners like
Fairy Tail or
One Piece that could use double strip premieres and earlier time slots.Basically, they probably have gotten more senin series right now best suited for late nights, not shounen's suited to prime time. Also...[adult swim]'s action lineup has started at 12 for a few years now. Even rebranded as Toonami, that wont change until they have an assurance that action premieres will do better than comedy repeats.
It's not that I don't believe that Toonami could start earlier, it's that it most likely won't right off the bat. That's what I implied in my original post.
But let me ask you this, how many acquisitions do you think [adult swim] would get for Toonami? It's not going to be a whole lot, and certainly "classics" will be of lower priority. We should expect two-three new anime a year like we've always had, and that's fine, especially if we can get a long runner like
One Piece that can earn ratings and run double premieres potentially a whole year (not more than a whole year, one year-straight).
Its not realistic to think that's going to happen right of the gate. There's been *A LOT* of discussion on this topic and I sadly agree its going to be hard pressed getting Cartoon Network to sign off on that many time slots.
I think we should be looking at Boomerang for some possibilities. Flinging that around the Adult Swim boards has actually gotten some interesting feedback.

Yeah, I don't think we'll see the day when Toonami takes up all the time slots on weekdays after 1:30, especially with
The Cleveland Show arriving next year, most likely in double strip format. We could get an hour of Toonami though, I'd certainly like 12-1weekday airings.
But Boomerang could certainly hold a Toonami everynight. If Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. finally get the corporate synergy going, there would definately be enough programs to air six hours a night, and evern two-three hours in daytime. But that would require effort, which is not something you'll ever see associated with Boomerang in the immediate future.
I gotta be clear on a few things there.
DXD kind of realized post tense that grabbing Naruto was a mistake on their part. THEY weren't willing to run the more graphic episodes. It caused them a lot of problems but in the end, it might have made it cheaper to acquire if Disney still doesn't have their claws in it.
I think Disney XD's contract to air
Naruto Shippuden has expired, and Viz has been looking for a new place to air it. I'd welcome
Naruto Shippuden on a new Toonami block, but it already aired close to a hundred eps on Disney XD, so it would take a year of double-strip airings to get to newer epsiodes if they started at the beginning. But yeah, Disney XD bit off more than they could chew when they decided to air
Naruto Shippuden, much like how 4Kids found themselves flumoxed when they had to deal with
One Piece's not-american kid-friendly content.
Avatar is a Nick series. It will *NEVER* be on CN. Voltron Force is a disaster, it should stay on Nick where it needs to die. Making a NEW (truly kick ass) version of Voltron would be fun to do for Toonami though.
As far as the Hub goes --- they made their channel for their shows. Those things aren't going ANYWHERE.
I think the guy meant that shows that once captured the Toonami spirit, which was unique to the block in 2001, have been reciprocated amongst multiple different channels that have content simmilar to Toonami golden age programming. I personally only consider
Dragonball Z Kai to have that type of vibe, but I don't think j32885 meant those shows specifically could have aired or will air on Toonami.
Also, Paradox295, they will air the FOX shows all night on weekdays once
The Cleveland Show hits. Seriously, that's what they will do. It will stink to not have shows that deserve weekday airings like
Robot Chicken and
Aqua Teen Hunger Force keep their slots, and who knows, they might, but I really think they'll air all the FOX shows in one hour blocks on weekdays, taking up 8 of [adult swim]'s 9 hours since they'll repeat the night's showings in the early mornings like they always do.
Hey, maybe they'll have a one hour Toonami separate the first run and secon run showings of the FOX shows when that happens! Probably not, but it actually would be a pretty cool idea to have Toonami right smack in the middle of the [adult swim] weeknights.
Also, just throwing this out there, we could see Toonami come back this Saturday at the earliest. I mean, all they really have to do is make bumps for the current [adult swim] action shows, and if they use T.O.M. 3 era graphics, that will be a cheap and easy task to do by Saturday night. I'm not saying it's likely, but it's definately possible. But I hope to finally get a confirmation on the anime shows [adult swim] has in it's arsenal for this year. My guess is
Panty & Stocking, Tiger & Bunny, and
Inuyasha: The Final Act. I'm pretty sure about
Panty & Stocking becuase [adult swim has dropped hints before that they know the show exists, and I WANT then to finally air
Inuyasha: Final Act because everyone's been waiting for, like, a year and a half for it and
Inuyasha was popular just a few years back so JUST AIR IT ALREADY [adult swim] AARGGGH!

Inuyasha fan, I just want them to air
Inuyasha: Final Act because there's no reason that they shouldn't. I also think Toonami's return could really benefit from a sequel sereis to a popular anime like
Inuyasha, and because I want Toonami's return to last a good series like this is needed from the get-go.

Oh, that's what we're doing now? We're posting what we hope to see on Toonami? Cool, it's cool to read on what animes you guys want. While, I realize Toonami being brought back is nostalgia filled for most of us, it's cool, but, Toonami, as stated above, needs to be mainstream, and needs mainstream animes. So, this is what I'd like to see:
Fairy Tail
One Piece
Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist)
Gintama
D.Grayman
Soul Eater
You guys do know, that the animes that we've come to know and love were once "new" to us as well? While most of us know these animes I've listed, the younger audience may have never heard of them, see an ep, than love it. Heck, I remember seeing an episode of Trigun thinking "omg, another one of those cowboy-space-like shows? Ugh", then, as I watched it, I fell in love.
Those are pretty good choices since most of those have episodes not seen dubbed in the United States yet, so the potential for new episodes premiering on television still exists. Obviously,
Soul Eater isn't a good candidate since all it's episodes have been available dubbed for a long time in the United States.
The problem in airing older stuff is that the nostalgic value of a returning series dissapears quickly, and thus the ratings sour quickly, so you need more current and newer series in main viewing hours and have to keep things fresh.The only anime that I've seen still draw ratings in endless repeats is
Dragonball Z, but it's an exception, not the norm. Believe me,
Outlaw Star reruns won't do well in prime viewing hours after a couple weeks pass and people start taking it for granted.
