Digimon Adventure Gets a High School Sequel

I have been look Wikipedia and Wiki website with Digimon Adventure Tri information about Davis, Yolei, Cody and Ken then there is no information about what happen to Davis, Yolei, Cody and Ken in Digimon Adventure Tri.

Why would there be information on the wiki website when the movie hasn't been released and all we saw was the first five minutes? Just wait until the movie comes out since that will provide more information on what happened to them.

Yeah, I too don't think that the 02 Digidestined got killed off, but they will be important to the plot, like the original kids have to go and find them, or the monster they face causes the original kids to step up and save the day.

Anyway, I thought this was an OVA or something. I didn't know this was getting a theatrical release. According to the wiki, it's a six part theatrical event? Is it going to be a short film format like the original Digimon films?

I'm not sure if they've revealed how long the movie is going to be yet. I'm hoping that it's longer than the original Digimon films, especially when it will probably be awhile before we get the second movie in this series.

I don't know if the runtime was revealed yet either, but a lot of OVAs get theatrical releases in Japan nowadays; the current Gundam OVA is getting a similar treatment, and AFAIK, most of the these OVAs run for a little more than an hour

It comes out on DVD less than a month after its theatrical release, so it's basically an OVA series for all intents and purposes.

As for length, according to reports from the first screenings, it's about 80 minutes long.

Does that mean we'll get SIX 80-minute movies?! That's pretty cool.

And also that adds up to 24 full length episodes

I, for once, really hope it does get a TV cut, just because that would make it a lot easier to license/simulcast.

I'm still waiting to see how this is going to be handled here. It seems like Saban isn't involved with Digimon anymore or at least doesn't want to have anything to do with this, and I would like to see another company like Funimation take this property if possible...it would be weird though if the dub used the Japanese names because I'm so used to "Tai", "T.K.", etc.

Yeah, I'm not sure how they'll handle the dubbing these movies either. While a dub is pretty far away anyway, the fact that Saban hasn't mentioned anything about Digimon Adventure Tri does make it seem like they aren't interested in it. I'm not even sure if they still want Digimon at this point. Funimation getting the license would be pretty nice, especially so that these movies could have a faithful dub, but I don't know how likely that is. I just hope that there will be some legal means to watch the movie not too long after it comes out in theaters.

It's worth noting on Saban's website that they posted up temporary, on the list of properties they're representing, Digimon (or Julius Jr. for that matter) is not listed.

Hell, worth noting is when the site WAS up, Digimon and Julius Jr. were both hidden on the Entertainment Brands page. Unless you hovered your mouse over the Properties list, you wouldn't know there was an option to scroll over.

Also, Saban's been incredibly quiet about Digimon in general, and the Twitter and Facebook pages haven't been updated since September (Twitter early September, Facebook late September). Not only that, at the Licensing Expo, Saban Brands wasn't the one to represent the property, but rather the UK network who has the rights, as well as Toei Animation themselves. So I'm personally getting a feeling they're more or less done with the property.

EDIT: Want to stress is they probably still have it, just that it's probably no longer an active brand for them. Still, it's entirely possible they could pass on tri. and allow someone else to pick it up. Given Toei Animation has been doing some promotional stuff themselves, even at it's minimal, I suspect Saban Brands is not involved with this.

So no Digimon Fusion season 3 next year then? Not that I'm particularly surprised or cut up over it, I just don't like things being left unfinished. Some other Saban properties are becoming Netflix-exclusives (Power Rangers, Glitter Force) and I thought Digimon would be heading that way too.

If Saban does pass on Adventure tri., I honestly don't see it getting picked up, but you never know.

I don't think anyone would pass on a Digimon franchise with the old cast returning. Especially since Toei is seemingly marketing it here.

Kinda to add onto this.

Starting Friday, November 27th, it seems that Digimon Fusion has been removed from Nicktoons scheduling. The Weekday slot (with Digimon and LBX) has been replaced and Sunday's (November 29th) time slot has replaced Digimon with a rerun of NFL Rush (though this was originally scheduled to be another premiere of LBX). I'm keeping a very close eye this week to see exactly what's happening, but not looking good.

If it's gone, I'm wondering if Nickelodeon's rights for the series simply ran out about that time. Nicktoons was originally going to replace the Friday slot (Nov. 27) with an hour of Harvey Beaks (10AM), but that got changed to match holiday programming. But the original plan seems to suggest they had to replace the slot suddenly, rather than finishing out the week. The following week seems to be cycling through Nickelodeon content, with Harvey Beaks on Monday, and Pig Goat Banana Cricket on Tuesday.

Anyways, I'm speculating at this point. We'll know more probably by the end of the week. I could be totally off the mark with this and I usually am.

I thought that Power Rangers becoming Netflix exclusive wasn't true. I thought that someone from Saban denied it. If Saban doesn't pick up Adventure Tri, then I'm pretty sure some other company would pick it up. A movie series centered around the original Adventure characters would be too good to pass up.

Although, I'd be totally fine with the Young Hunters series not being dubbed. It was so horrible that it never should have been made. All it does is ruin an otherwise good series.

Regarding Power Rangers, Saban has issued a statement that the information posted online is simply untrue. As to whether or not Nickelodeon renews the series beyond 2016, that's still up in the air.

But yeah, I agree with you on Digimon Adventure tri. Even if Saban doesn't pick it up, it's likely someone else will, or even Toei Animation could be handling it themselves.

Also, in regards to the Hunter season, apparently Ben Diskin commented on it when someone asked him. This was posted over at the Ranger Boards:

" if I'd done any recording for the 3rd arc of Fusion, I'd also be under a new NDA and wouldn't be allowed to talk about it. However, I can say with complete honesty that I don't think we're gonna do it. If we haven't started by now, it's unlikely that they'll just randomly have us dub it in the future (and we haven't started.)"

So yeah, it's looking unlikely at this point.

If it's still up in the air, it's possible that Power Rangers moving to Netflix could be true. I hadn't considered Toei Animation handling it themselves. That is a good possibility give that they're promoting Adventure Tri themselves and there hasn't been any news about the movies being picked up.

That's good to know. That would explain why there was a "The End" sign at the end of the Dark General arc. It's too bad for dub fans and the original voice actors potentially reprising their roles would have been probably the only good thing about rewatching that series, but Young Hunters was awful and I don't think that fans would be missing that much. At least it is still up on Crunchyroll so people can still check out legally if they want to.

This does make it more likely that Saban is losing interest in Digimon though. It's a pretty bad sign if they aren't likely to dub a season and no mention of Adventure Tri for a U.S. release doesn't help either.

That's pretty neat that the move is going to air on TV in Germany. Hopefully, it means that there's a good chance that the movie will be available for other countries not too long after it is released in Japan.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
