Drawn Together Episode 35 - "Toot Goes Bollywood" Talkback

This is the next-to-last episode of Drawn Together's third season, and it airs tonight at 10:30 PM EST. In this episode, you'll see Toot being worshipped as a goddess by the people of India. I saw a preview of it on Comedy Central's site, and it sounds awesome! See if you can find the parodies of Donkey Kong and The Mary Tyler Moore Show! And even though I haven't seen any previews of it, there's supposed to be a Foxxy storyline as well.

This third season was awfully short. Why is that?

Plus knowing that last week's the last episode upsets me considering I was hoping to enjoy new episodes uninterrupted with school work, since my semester ends next week.

Not my favorite episode of the season but I had some really good laughs (especially with the live-action segments and the wacky music video).

The next episode looks epic, so I'm kind of wishing this show wasn't on the edge of cancellation.

I liked the episode a lot, it felt a bit racist like their mexican episode but it was still funny. The indian music video gag doesn't even compare to the real life ones, man those are 100 times weirder.

Is Judge Fudge a character from Drawn Together?

Yes. He's appeared in Drawn Together several times, always spouting the same catchphrase he says in his webtoon nonstop. He was one of the steroid users Hero met at Popeye's house in "The Lemon-AIDS Walk". He appeared in "The Drawn Together Clip Show" as the person who supposedly "won" last year's Drawn Together. He was also the judge who presided over Foxxy's trial in "N.R.A.y RAY".

This one has to rank as one of the most bizarre episodes they've ever done. I'm going to need to watch it again before I can give an honest summation of how good it was. But it was so out there, I couldn't help but be amused.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the Toot story. I was worried this episode was going to make Toot look really bad. And yes, they DID make fun of her, but it wasn't any worse than most other episodes- and she got some vindication in this one, which was REALLY nice to see. It was really heartwarming how they all went to India to rescue her- and on top of that, admitted she isn't really a cow. And then Toot decides to give up her life of unlimited sex and being worshipped to stay with them... awwwwww. But come on, people, I don't care that they've mentioned it twice now. Toot does NOT weigh 220 pounds! For someone her height, her frame simply isn't large enough. (Yes, I know it's a joke- but still.)

I hate to say it, but this was probably the worst Foxxy story they've done. (That's not much of a condemnation, though, given that her stories are usually excellent.) I've stated several times that the show is far too reliant on the movie parodies, and this was a prime example. The Kill Bill stuff was not especially creative. It was basically just copying from the movie without putting any kind of real twist on it. "Lazy plagiarism", as Toot would say. Also, the story was kind of a return to the darker elements they were using in the first half of the season, which really dragged the show down. This wasn't as bad as "Spelling Applebee's" or "N.R.A.y RAY", but still, I could have done without it. The song at the end was amusing, though.

So basically, this one was worth it for the Toot story... and maybe the Foxxy story will grow on me with repeated viewings.

Pretty good episode..not the best, but not bad...

I kind of hope the series returns as it appeals to me a bit more than South Park which kind of is hot and cold for me...

The highlight of the episode was the live action segments with the guy in the junk yard (Bill Cosby's character). He looked familiar and I was right..it was Otis Day from Otis Day and the Nights who performed "Shout" at the toga party in Animal House...awesome!

I got a big kick out of the Bollywood production numbers, because, if you've never seen an India-made film, they truly are that bizarre! The Foxxy subplot ... I thought the "implanted memory" reveal was lame. Would've been funnier if the gang had gangbanged her, but it was so traumatic for them that they'd repressed the memory, which is why they're all gay! And, yeah, it was pretty funny that Otis Day (the actor actually had his name legally changed to that of his Animal House character a few years back) was the live-action, derelict version of Bill Cosby. Was that Tara Strong as his mugging victim?

That definitely wasn't Tara. It kind of looked like Abbey McBride, the voice of Ling-Ling. But I'm not sure.

The story wasn't the best, but the gags had me rolling with laughter. Especially the amount of "circle up" jokes and Fat Albert word comparisons.

It was an OK episode, but it was slightly dull and I'll give it a 7/10. I wonder why Clara is being so nice in the past few episodes

Eh, I laughed a few times, but most of the episode felt like an excuse to make more "lol Toot is fat" jokes.

Looking at that pic of Abbey from when they showed the DT VAs behind the mics, I'm pretty sure it was her. Makes sense since she really didn't do much else this ep (I think Ling Ling had one line, which is more then some episodes sadly but still not a lot). Speaking of characters who haven't had much screentime...

Clara hasn't been getting much either in the last few episodes. Thinking about last major role she had was "Trapped In A Parking Space Part 2". Ever since then she's had minor role as one of the gang/barley in the story at all. Maybe that's the reason she's so nice: because they haven't had time to really potray her as being mean since she hasn't really been in the show.

Mainly because it seemed like the Toot plot would just be one concescutive fat/cow joke they've already done in "A Tale Of Two Cows" among other such Toot=cow jokes, but it was alright. Mainly for Toot randomly calling people dreamy, the Donkey Kong refrence (though really can't they parody modern games more then they have, espically with a video game charactter on the show and all), Toot getting hit by the car in a Mary Tyler Moore ripoff jump, the non-sublte rips on Indian food, gods and lifestyle, Toot making fun of they're stupid song, the King of Indian giving computer advice, Toot having her way with 9 million of the indian citizens, the gang coming to india and Spanky's lne about being hung, and at the end where Wrecking Ball toot saved the day and they took the red line back home. The Foxxy plot wasn't bad either. I think I'd like it more if I actually saw more of Fat Albert or Kid bill but it seemed like a decent mending of the two (even though the Fat Albert jokes started getting old after awhile. And thinking of it, Animainaics, South Park and Fairly Oddparents made some better FA jokes without taking up so much of the plot to explain it). The best parts were Foxxy whoring to guys who keep calling her on the phone, Woodlor's hypnotism, the getting it in a circle joke, the live action scenes (well at least the one with the guy holding up the girl randomly. That one was pretty funny), Foxxy just remembering after she was let out about "Fat Alan's" gang, Fat Alan mentioning that unlike his creator bill cosby they aren't child molestors (the fight was good too though that's when the "They should call you a something something" joke stopped being funny) and Woodlor showing up at the end. I could of done without the song but a decent ending to the plot of a pretty decent DT. I'm hoping next time though all the castmates get more of a chance to shine, espically if it's going to be the last episode of the show and all.

That bit with Donald's mask coming off was funny- I remember hearing once that he wore it on the original show because of really bad burns or something.

A part of me wonders if maybe the writers intended "Lost in Parking Space" to be a turning point for her character. She was mean in the episodes leading up to that one, then faced a real crisis with it, and ever since then, she's been quite nice. I don't think they did- they really don't seem to care much about character development- but I wonder, all the same.
