Guys seriously it’s over for CN

They could really use that money for linear channels. They get tens of thousands of dollars/euros a month. They would be able to acquire more content and hire a few extra people in the promo department. Even the US needs it a lot. Not sure why they're not going to use the YouTube money. It goes to somewhere else sadly.
Even an independent web channel, a hobby channel, can do better

The Cartoon Cartoons EMEA channel is slowly doing that but with intrusive show bugs entering the safe zone, something other official channels like Nelvana's didn't have.
I noticed that too! Was that channel originally Boomerang's YT channel?

Yeah, it used to be Boomerang USA's YouTube channel, until it was handed over to the UK team and turned into the Cartoon Cartoons EMEA channel.
Their screen bugs made it really annoying to watch their fosters uploads lol

Have you guys seen those channels that upload videos like "Saturday morning Cartoons on CN in 2007"? They stitch together a few episodes with bumpers and real commercials you would've seen on the channel back then. I kind of like that minus the ads. I would totally watch a live stream that simulates the Noods or Check It era with all the shows from back then and the bumpers haha.

And their Flintstones uploads post–Cartoon Cartoons rebrand inexplicably had the Swedish dub audio audible underneath the English audio for some reason.

It's like how the Finnish dub audio was audible on a few official UK YouTube clips of Gumball.

Boomerang never change!

WBD released a massive document detailing their upcoming split. Zero mention of CN in those 500+ pages.

I haven't kept up with the latest round of news. It's my understanding that CN is basically being sold for parts. Like Netflix wants to buy CN Studios but not the CN brand.

AS is mentioned 3 times. I don't see CN as a channel being gone because it's connected with AS. Adult Swim just doesn't fit to be a 24/7 network. It's just not going to work. I would start panicking if or when there will be any sources that CN will indeed shut down. This discussion has been going on for 3 years so I won't trust until I see such claims.

I guess you're right about that! People are exaggerating things online too easily!

While CN might be screwed when they are losing most shows on linear, they can acquire a lot of stuff. We just don't know if Netflix are willing to share the shows. Even if they don't, CN has options from other companies. They can air the shows that have aired in the past.

As for linear TV, it's going nowhere even when tough times are ahead.

Name a long laundry list of acquisitions that a Discovery Global–owned Cartoon Network without anything owned by Warner Bros. could possibly air globally.

Yeah unfortunately real life declines are not spectacular like the channel just up and shutting down. The sad reality is that CN the channel will still nominally exist in auto pilot mode like it is today. What I'm worried about is the fate of CN Studios. It already barely exists independently of WB Animation. Netflix could fully fold it into their own animation division.

Okay we'll do it the hard way. Here's the list of shows they could air:

- Totally Spies
- Iyanu
- Total Drama (and DramaRama)
- Pink Panther and Pals
- Lana Longbeard
- Ninjago
- Garfield and Friends

These are the most logical and likely shows to air. They could fill a lineup easily with these so again, CN's gonna be fine. We just don't know what they will have left and what they acquire but as for returning shows, these are the most likely ones.

They could also air public domain shorts too.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
